University of Maryland President Wallace Loh admitted at a news conference on Tuesday that the school's athletic training staff "misdiagnosed" the collapse of a 19-year-old football player and that their failures led to his death weeks later.
Loh said he apologized to Jordan McNair's parents in a private meeting Tuesday morning for the team's mishandling of their son's medical needs.
"I wanted them to hear it directly from me this morning — the university accepts legal and moral responsibility for the mistakes that our training staff made on that fateful workout day of May the 29th, which of course led subsequently to his death on June 13," Loh told reporters.

Honestly this brought tears to my eyes that someone FINALLY took responsibility for a mistake and didn't hide behind a room full of lawyers.
Heat injuries are medical emergencies, the "call 911 right now!" kind. That the training staff didn't respond appropriately and immediately says a lot about their own training and educations. This was a needless death.
SOUNDS like they wanted him off the team coaches do this to get rid of them ....they should be ARRESTED AND FIRED.

Neglect on UMES we're are the training updates for the coaches ? Esp medically.
That makes sense. Didn't he sign some papers in the beginning stating the University would not be held liable etc. If this is PG county - it is a county that let's everyone who Sue's win.
Of course they would take responsibility. The lawsuit will be payed by you the taxpayer.
