Newly formed Twin Islands Media Group has announced it will acquire Variety Hits 96.5 WCTG from Sebago Broadcasting and Country “Wow 101.5” WOWZ Chincoteague, VA from Jackman Holdings.
The company will begin to operate both stations and Signal Above LLC’s 87.7 WDCO-LP Salisbury MD (which currently simulcasts WOWZ) on April 1. WCTG and WOWZ are both currently operated via LMA by GSB Broadcasting. Not included in the sale is GSB’s 92.5 WICO-FM Pocomoke City MD, which currently simulcasts WCTG.
The partners in Twin Islands Media Group include veteran programmer and Washington DC area on-air talent Chris Roth, engineer Joshua Bohn who is also principle owner of Bohn Broadcast Services, and Dana Ryan who most recently co-hosted mornings at iHeartMedia AC “Magic 96.5” WMJJ Birmingham.
Twin Islands Media Group is a privately held company that focuses on creating local radio to benefit the local businesses and the communities they serve.
Rothschild Broadcasting is selling Country “Cat Country 97.5” WKTT Salisbury MD to Joseph Morris and Ron Banks’ RoJo Broadcasting for $305,000. The buyers will begin operating WKTT via Time Brokerage Agreement on March 1.
Banks recently served as MD/Nights at Urban “Power 101.7” WZEB Ocean View DE. Rothschild had purchased WKTT and News/Talk1320 WICO Salisbury from Delmarva Broadcasting in November 2015 for $300,000.

I hope that they don't screw up WCTG's song list any more that it's been since the change a year ago. We actually used to be able to listen to some B sides on WCTG.
But the important question is...will any of these stations broadcast Rush Limbaugh?
any idea of the formats?
we really need a good talk radio station sing wico switched.
This could be one Hell of an opportunity for the freelance writer Molly, Send us your 'poetic resume' Molly

The trouble is, she still wouldn't know who she was working for!
If they are left wing they are D O A
"If they are left wing they are D O A."
Kind of like the public radio stations from Salisbury U. I'd give them money if they just played classical music and dropped the NPR.
Yes, CTG's song lineup used to be mostly free form, but it's moving more toward a canned format.
When I first started listening some 6 years ago, it was fun to hear a really good mix of old and new rock, both soft and hard, with some non-top40 songs in there, the stuff that was still good but not at the top of airplay in its time.
It's gone downhill since then, moving toward satisfying the tastes of millennials to sell advertising, from the look and sound of it. I suppose that that's called progress.
Cat Country finished up their run with some pretty gruff voices, not my idea of pleasing radio voices.
Not sure what I will listen to now
I used to love listening to Steve's "One Nation Underground" on WGTC. We need more programming like that. When will radio stations realize that just being a iPod wont cut it anymore? Just like Ocean 98 USED to b really cool when it first started, too- then it started just playing the same classic rock everyone else plays.
Where's Bill Reddish now - he used to be on WICO with a good morning show for some years.
Live 97.5 seems great thus far, looking forward to the breakfast club. The Saturday night mix I heard was on point!
I used to listen to CTG and OC 98 they both played great music. Now I listen to internet radio WMVY out of Martha's Vineyard MA. and KGSR out of Austin TX. Great music from both. If you have Sirius/XM listen to the Bridge.

Let's hope not. There are some announcers around here I don't like hearing on the radio either.

There is already a station that broadcasts Rush.
