Perdue Foods announced a “renewed focus on animal care and a continuation of its focus on premium, trusted brands that meet evolving consumer expectations. The initiative will include more activity for birds and a pilot program that will test the use of windows in chicken houses.
Chairman Jim Perdue outlined a four-part plan that he says will accelerate its progress in animal care, strengthen relationships with farmers, build trust with multiple stakeholder groups and create an animal care culture for continued improvement.
The company first confirmed its plans in a New York Times story. The New York metro area is a key market for Perdue, which pioneered the use of branding and commercials in New York and other East Coast markets.
Entitled 2016 and Beyond: Next Generation of Perdue Commitments to Animal Care, the plan was developed with input from stakeholders such as farmers, academics, and leaders of animal advocate organizations who were invited by Perdue to help shape the animal care plan that sets new industry standards, a release stated.

We had windows in chicken houses 50 years ago, how did that work out? And playground equipment for chickens? For animals who live only 7 weeks?
Isn't it a bit late?
How long has Perdue ignored animal care?

Perdue raises chickens to kill so people like you can eat them.
Ungrateful much?
You wouldn't know a chickens arse from its cloaca.
please stop making a fool of yourself.
I wish there were a thumbs up button for individual comments
1:00 gets a thumbs up.
If there were no modern poultry industry there would be billions of chickens who would never have been hatched and no chance at life at all. Is it better to give an animal life for seven weeks or not allow it to live in the first place? Personally, I would rather let them live for a while so I can feed my family at a reasonable cost.
LOL really......chickens rights....LOL FOOD SOURCE raise them for slaughter....They get a free ride to the slaughter plant! Keep'em comin' Jimmy....I'm doing my part....deep fried and BBQ'ed with a little Old Bay sprinkled on them.....Um Um Good!!!
I'm glad to hear this. Maybe it will make them taste better. It's not something I could eat before because it stunk so bad and when you cooked it, it would be swimming around in some kind of yucky liquid. I don't have this with the chicken that I buy. It's more expensive but it doesn't leave that stench on you hands when you handle it raw or stink your house up when you cook it and it tastes good unlike that other stuff you buy in the grocery store.
OMG windows are you kidding me! I raised chickens for 15 years trust me they are not intelligent enough to think hey guys lets look out the windows. The only thing they will do is poop on them and then that makes more work for the farmer to keep windows clean. This is funny stuff. Remember some of you animal rights people your pets eat chicken by products in their food.
I'm not sure I could trust anyone who puts Old Bay on fried or BBQ chicken. Crabs or french fries, okay, but chicken? But then, my wife puts Tabasco on everything so what do I know?
4:07 she is spot on!!!!! start out with a little old bay on the side....just touch the fried chicken in it, be careful NOT HEAVY coverage I think you will like it....then to keep your wife happy any hot sauce is also good with it.....you will be a old bay user, try it on steak and burgers season LIGHTLY......I know this will upset you but, I use it on my chef salad as well!!!!!
Hold up! How did this go from animal care to Old Bay? Well then, in that case don't forget to cook some corn on the cob with your chicken. The best way to eat your corn is a little bit of butter and lots of Old Bay sprinkled on top!
I think there should be a Perdue store here in town so we can buy direct. come on Jim give us a break.
