Fletcher Is Now The 4th Person In The System With Parole & Probation Involved In Shooting

You can now add Edwin Lamont Fletcher as the FOURTH suspect involved in a shooting with Police over the past 2 months who is in the system with Parole & Probation.

Salisbury News continues to educate the public just how overwhelmed Parole & Probation Officers are, working on 600 to 700 cases at a time, PER OFFICER.

Delegate Norm Conway continues to IGNORE the dire need of more Officers and has refused to represent Salisbury by asking the state for more funding.

How many people have to risk their lives and or DIE before the state will recognize just how serious a problem we have in Wicomico County. Remember, one Police Officer lost his life in Florida recently by a Salisbury man in the system who simply couldn't be properly monitored for lack of Probation Officers?

We need new representation in Annapolis and you need to vote for Carl Anderton to replace Norm Conway.

How about the judges give tougher sentences. My friends in law enforcement get frustrated by the ridiculously light sentences these thugs are getting.

Maybe they shouldn't have been paroled!?

8:53 - completely agree!!! So many thugs, arsonists, druggies, driving on revoked/suspended, keep getting NO JAIL TIME. What is wrong with the judges? Stop slapping the States Attorneys and LEOs in the face with your poor sentencing.

Maybe courts need to take another look at who they put on probation and who they keep in jail

At least everyone of these criminals on Parole/Probation is complying with the law of not possessing a dangerous weapon!! The idiots that make theses laws are a waste of good air!

@9:26 a Vehicle is not a Dangerous Weapon? Really? Moron!

Carl has my vote!

Norm Conway you are absolutely, positively useless. Term limits, everyone, term limits. This fat cat should have been gone years ago.

Hang all the judges. They are just politcal appointments/lawyers in black robes. They are at times complete liberal idiots. As for stormin Norman if you have wrapped a sub with the written request you would have gotten a better response.

Conway cares only about himself and the B.O.E. what a waste

No answer is available.Too many criminals and too little prison space.

9:34, Don't point fingers at the Judges.

Your liberal Governor is the one who is setting up soft sentences. The Judges simply follow a strict guideline. Believe me, they no more want to put people back on the streets any sooner then you do.

These are very decent paying jobs and each and every Judge on the bench has EARNED their position.

Point your blame towards the Governor.

Look I am not going to blame the officers - any officer - our justice system is a joke and it starts with the states attorney office. How many of these cases are plea bargained? How many are tried by inexperienced prosecutors? I know for a fact when Matt took over he fired many life long prosecutors with unbelievable experience and you can't tell me that we have not seen more and more cases not even being tried in a court of law. I am all for young attorneys who start off in the states attorney office, but in a violent city like Salisbury we need experience!!! Its that simple. I know there is a lot of anger toward Davis - but at least he brought these cases to trial! I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me, but enough is enough - it is so sad to watch this once wonderful city and community fall like this. Thank you Joe for your reporting - these stories have to get out!

9:11 most judges give sentences suggested or plea bargained by the State's Attorney - it is a fact look it up!

I have personally sat in Court Rooms where the States Attorneys Office offered plea deals agreed upon by the States Attorney and the Defense.

The Judge flat out REFUSED the plea deal and sentenced them to the maximum sentence allowed by law. Again, I've seen it with my own eyes.

They will wait until we have a local LE shot and killed, then maybe they will do something other than lip service. I won't hold my breath though.

Joe: Maybe that happened because you were in the court room! There was accountability with you being there!

9:29 I was being sarcastic, criminals don't follow the law.

It is not the sentences that are the problem. If a person is charged with a crime and gets 15 years, but then is released in 2 years for good behavior, that has nothing to do with the governor, the police or the judge. These sentences need to be served closer to the original term. The parole process should be refined to prevent more dangerous career criminals from serving shorter terms than they originally receive.

well, at least the stupid public radio station got some money....

It's not so much the judges but the states attorneys. I too have sat in the courtroom and the judge has asked the SA if they had a sentence recommendation and of course most being buddies with the defense lawyers say they don't. The SA has or should have a more in depth knowledge of the defendant's crime and prior criminal history then a judge so should always recommend sentence. MD also has mandatory early release (overcrowding is NOT a problem in MD so that can't be used as an excuse) so it's not a "truth in sentencing" state. 10 years means around 3 really.

Anonymous said...

It does have something to do with the governor and all the other law makers 10:15. Anyone of them can push to make MD a truth in sentencing state where 10 years means 10 years. It would never pass though with a democratic controlled state. They want to use the less prison population numbers as a bragging platform to say how they've reduce crime.

for what its worth said...

mr albero is 100% on it!

The sad truth is the liberal tide now is too strong to stop i think.
Starting with a muslin president down to a govenor who is married with children and is for same sex marriage AND BOTH WHO THINK MORE TAXES WILL FIX EVERYTHING AND IT IS FAR FROM THE TRUTH.
Salisbury is full of animals like this. dope dope dope everywhere!
Our govenor and his entitlement liberals should look what happened at msp north barrack a week ago and let this be a real life deterent in marijuana legalization in this state.
Man i just do not get it anymore what the hell happened to common sense.

Don't insult animals, for what it' worth. Salisbury isn't full of animals, it's full of a sub culture of something that resembles human beings who, for multiple reasons, failed to evolve into civilized human beings. The reasons they never evolved can be attributed to genetics, upbringing and the breakdown of a REAl family unit which is a female mother and a male father who are in the child's life on a daily basis are positive role models and not of the criminal element themselves.
