It's often been said that some people are born leaders. The question is, will those people lead their business, institution, congregation, or whatever group they head to greater heights of success and fulfillment? Or will they use their position simply as a means to further their own personal agenda and goals?
Headlines might make you think the latter is the more common scenario, that excessive greed and a “me first” attitude have become the mantra of today’s leaders.
But I don’t believe it.

Well the problem is that those who do use their talent to further their own personal agenda usually put it out there in every news outlet, press conference, whatever is available. Like Sheriff Lewis. He used the Sheriff's Office to further his own personal agenda. He'll run for Norm Conways seat because he has made enough political connections as Sheriff. And he knows he doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of beating Ernie Leatherbury in the next election for Sheriff. Sheriff Lewis lied to the citizens and he lied to his deputies to get their support in the first race. They won't support him again. I hope others learn about how he really is before they elect him as a state delegate.
Honesty, intergity and a lot of hard work.
What Makes A Great Leader?
Joe Albero ;)
Not afraid to tell you the truth even if it hurts.
I'm ready for some ice cream....
TDP- Tell one that is like that? They cannot be found.
Joe speaking of leadership. Do you still have shirts available? I would like to stop by on Tuesday afternoon and get a couple.
What makes a great leader? One who leads by example. And while doing so he/she exhibits respect toward others, the ability to listen and accept constructive criticism, and holds him/herself to a standard higher than that which most find acceptable. A great leader is humble and honest and understands that people aren't perfect and that there are certain weaknesses inherent in all human beings. A great leader makes the tough decisions for the greater good - even when it will cost him/her personally.
9:50, you just described Debbie Campbell in my book. That woman has taken more grief than anyone who has served this city. With the beatings Jim Ireton gives Terry Cohen, she's running a close second to Debbie.
There are truly so few, how are we to know. Compare our current leaders to Washington, Jerrerson, Lincoln, Franklin and decide do we really have great leaders today? Once people get to Washington, they forget about us until election time.
