The region's Transportation Planning Board is studying a series of scenarios for additional tolls, taxes or fees, and will ask the public how they feel about the possibilities over the next six months.
Some of the options they are considering include:
- Tracking drivers by GPS and charged a fee on a per-mile basis every time they take the car out of the driveway
- Charging drivers a toll every time they want to put wear-and-tear on a major highway
- Follow London's lead, and requiring drivers pay a fee to enter a congested area like downtown D.C.

They should ask these questions as citizens are entering the voting booth.
How about using the money collected in the tax on fuel for roads and bridges.
Oh, wait, they're spending that on something else.
Just how many boot-licking citizens are going to show up and VOLUNTEER to pay more taxes AND (!) give suggestions and recommendations on how they would like to be further taxed? I would hope that hundreds of citizens show up and DEMAND that they stop spending and cut the enormous waste. Then tell them that if they raise ANY taxes, it will be their last days in office and they can take the meaning of THAT in any way they like. What have we become as citizens when we ACCEPT our government telling us they will raise taxes, but will (kindly) give us the opportunity to tell us HOW we want that medicine....we don't want ANY "medicine". What guarantees do they offer that all THESE taxes won't also be used and spent on something else (other than what they say NOW) and in a few more years, we'll be given the opportunity to "suggest" more tax collecting ideas?
How about stop raiding the Highway Trust Fund and there would be no need for additional tax.
they should have to buy more gas.
