Jury was only out for 35 minutes before returning Guilty verdicts on First Degree Premeditated Murder, First Degree Felony Murder, Armed Carjacking, Carjacking, Armed Robbery, Robbery, First Degree Assault and Grand Theft. Because Alvira was not death penalty eligible due to his age, Brittany Barkley was not death penalty eligible.
The States Attorney's Office will seek Life Without Parole and a consecutive 30 year sentence which is the maximum she can receive. Judge D. William Simpson ordered a Pre-Sentence Investigation at the request of the Defense Attorney. Sentencing will occur within the next 45-60 days.

Judge Simpson is the judge you want if you want to get a stiff sentence. We need more judges like him. He has no fear of sending anyone to jail, doesn't matter who you are, who you know or who your parents are.

This is one of the three that carjacked and killed Anitra Pirkle. She was at Elmers Tastee Freeze last spring when they decided to end her life.
I ate lunch beside him a few weeks back at Peakys. Thank god enough time had pasted.
This is the 3rd person involved in the Anitra Pirckle murder. It's sad that she only gets life...Anitra did not get life without parole. Sometimes an eye for an eye makes sense, at other times most of the world it seems would be without sight.

The article I read said her former female "lover" testified against her, claiming that she saw the defendant steal the dagger that was later used to commit the murder.

To the three who decided to take my friends life, I wish you nothing but what you deserve. I am not a bible thumper, but in the case of this human trash, I take some comfort in the thought that they will spend the rest of eternity with the smell of brimstone in their nostrils.

If the killing was gang-related, they will get their wish. There are plenty of gangs to join in jail.....
None of them deserve anything other than the death penalty but if that cant happen,they should spend the rest of their lives incarcerated and never breathe free air again.

Life without parole is actually cheaper for taxpayers than the death penalty. Multiple mandated appeals and other lengthy processes associated with the death penalty cause more incurred costs for the state than 3 squares and a cable tv for the rest of their life.
