The National Rifle Association sued the City of Chicago, Illinois and Village of Oak Park, Illinois so citizens could protect themselves with handguns.
We lost. Gun ban won. The word came down June 2, 2009.
These two municipalities ban the possession of most handguns. But you are probably thinking we won in Washington, DC with the Heller case didn’t we? Didn’t that clear the right to own a handgun to protect yourself?
No. Here is why:
The courts felt that Washington, DC and the Heller case dealt with law enacted under the authority of the national government, while Chicago and Oak Park are subordinate bodies of state.
In short, courts are deciding the Constitution of the United States and the 2nd Amendment doesn’t apply to the entirety of the United States of America.
Beware:
1. This decision will be used around the country to ban you owning a gun.
2. Courts will decide that the 2nd Amendment will only apply to long guns because they better serve the intent of the Founding Fathers in that guns are for a citizen militia and long guns serve that purpose. Therefore handguns are unnecessary to the security of a free State according to the language of the Amendment.
3. States will argue that they are independent of the federal government and can ignore the Bill of Rights, as they successfully did in Chicago.

Probably one of the most glaring attacks against our personal freedoms.
So states can now opt out of certain constitutional protections?
This will go to SCOTUS.
Hopefully, they'll do what's right for we freedom loving Americans.

Just like every other "anti-gun law" in the Country, this one is pointless. The people they are trying to keep the guns from are the "criminals." I'm not sure if they have every looked up that definition, but it basically means people who break the law. SO, they can pass as many LAWS as they want, and it will never decrease their crime rate. In fact, criminals LOVE laws like this because they are almost guaranteed that their victims will be unarmed and unable to protect themselves! In fact, when D.C. had their gun ban...they still had one of the highest gun crime rates in the Country! Now how on Earth would that happen Mr. Politician? Q: Why does a criminal not attack a police station A: Oh, yeah because the victims are armed. Q: Why does a criminal attack in schools? A: Oh, yeah because you're NOT allowed to carry a gun on school premises...however the "criminal" still did, despite the law. Wow-the criminal broke the law? Strange. No guns...higher gun crime rates. Need I repeat myself? I wonder how long are we going to tolerate this attack on our fundamental rights? I also encourage you to join the NRA and/or Gun Owners of America.
Right on 9:31 we are losing our freedoms so quickly it isn't even funny. Especially now that Obama is moving with the speed of a gazelle. Our founding fathers we roll over in their graves if they could see what is happening in America today. Obama is throwing the Declaration of Independence and Constitution right out the window. I just looked over the Maryland Criminal Law. I see how clever Legislature was while writing the language. Dance through the legal jargon and you will see. You can carry a weapon. Strap an AK-47, AR-15, HK MP-5, or any other long gun that is legal to own, on your back for self defense and go about your business provided it's not concealed. The state would have the burden of proving "The intent or purpose of injuring an individual in an unlawful manner" in order to bring about some type of prosecution for doing so.
Carry a concealed hand gun and you've got a problem. Concealed carry laws are a no-brainer. 40 other states in the union have recognized this and have enacted legislation that abolishes bans on concealed carry. In no case has the "doomsday" fear been realized. There are no wild west shootouts. No one is running around shooting people. None-sense propaganda.
