City Council debates new fire station
Feasibility study provides three solutions, but recommends a new building

SALISBURY -- The City Council plans to discuss a recommendation to build a new Fire Station 2 during a work session today.
The recommendation comes from a feasibility study by Code and Russell Architects who were hired by the city to assist the fire department in deciding the future of Station 2. Code and Russell's report provides three solutions, but recommends the third which calls for a new building across from the current location.
Station 2 is located on Brown Street in East Salisbury. The plan calls for a 13,000-square-foot-building be raised in structural consistency with Station 16.
Salisbury News reported back on February 24, 2008, (almost a year ago) this was going to happen. Here is a part of that article but use the link to see more.
"Gordy & See aren't finished with you yet! After screwing the Taxpayers into spending more money per square foot than almost any other Fire Station in the United States, they're back for more. No, I'm not talking about their $800,000.00 Fire Boat, that's another con job. I'm talking about not one, but TWO new Fire Stations.
They have been BS'ing everyone by suggesting they want to remodel Station II but that's NOT the case at all. In fact, they want to build a brand new Station right next door to the old one and, (are you ready) put the Old Station up as a surplus item too! I wonder what Bill Ahtes plans to do with that one?
Oh, I'm NOT finished yet. They also want to build a brand new Station on Naylor Mill Road. This Station will service the North end of the City."
Let's see how Mr. Comegys handles this one and I'd ask that each Candidate take the time to share their views on this proposal.

And it still seems like a "recommendation" I'd rather hear about it closer to actuality then an idea.
The fire house on Naylor & Brown St does not belong to the city, it belongs to the vollies, SFD Volunteer INC. If they build it across the street it won't belong to the vollies, it will belong to the city. The city can then give the vollies the boot, like they've been trying to do ever since Barrie Tilghman took control of the vollies money. How can the city put that building up as surplus when it doesn't belong to them?
By the way, Gary Comegys owns property over in that neighborhood. Not sure if it is on Brown or Naylor but he owns it and I'm sure he'll sell it to the city for around ohhhhh lets say $500k.
The City of Salisbury owns Station 2 you idiot. How many times do you have to be told. The property was deeded to the City in the 30's because the Volunteers could not afford it. It doesn't matter where they build Station 2 you will be under the City's umbrella period. Damn there are some stupid people in the SFD.
The property across the streetfrom Station 2 was owned by Comegys and Ed Parker. I believe it was sold to SFD 2 Inc. They own several plots along Naylor and Brown St. We are also sitting on money that Gordy cant get his hands on.
10:30 a.m., please elaborate on "We are also sitting on money that Gordy cant get his hands on."
I pray this is true. How did you manage this?
What a bunch of sneaky scoundrels these guys are.
Given what we know and who's in charge, there is little hope for this, formerly great little city.
If its not the police chief its the mayor, or the prez of city council. Then theres the fire dept.
Why don't the citizens just roll over and give them all their money, to take away the drama of how this thing ends.
This is like a nightmare. This fire department has gone mad and theres nobody stopping it. They just got a new fire station and they want another. I have read the other story about the wasteful spending on the trucks and now this. Why Why Why ? Dont these people realize the economy is the worst since the depression ? This foolish behavior has got to stop.
If I told you how we stash the money we would be done. Yogi and a few older members have it stashed in a fund they can't find or touch. They took everything else, so we got to have something. Gordy would love to get his hands on it for sure.
Comegys sold his property at 419 Naylor St to the City of Salisbury not SFD, Inc. He sold it for $11,500 and took a loss on it, well at least he took a loss on paper.
Does anybody see a connection between the FD purposal and the Governments Stimulus bill ?
Its called greed ! They think that if they got away with it once...why not try again. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Right.
"Lets just see how dumb these people really are?" Is what the fly heard on the wall.
Code and Russell Architects
Can someone tell me where this firm is??
Well lets see if the city really owns station 2 then why didnt the mayor toss the vollies out on thier butts when they tried to break away? because she could not thats why they own the building if you like it or not they are smarter then 16, lets say that they own all but the last bay of the building dont let the deeds confuse you !!!!! the deed that city wants to play by is the one that was used when new section of the building was added onto not the old section which by the way runs down the middle of the existing bay the city is trying to claim !! thats why only one bay is owned by the city !!!!! REST BY STATION 2 INC. A NON PROFIT GROUP LISTED WITH THE STATE OF MARYLAND LOOK IT UP!!!!! INC. WITH THIER OWN CORP. SEALS LEGAL AND BIDDING, yes they would love to build a new station so the city can own it thats the only reason they are looking at doing this.Yes sta2 has some issues with the old section but to rebuild all new what a joke !!!!
Joe, I don't know if you are there but I just rode by the city council building and saw all three chiefs cars there parked beside one another. You cant tell me the 3 Stooges couldn't drive in one vehicle to that meeting. Oh I forgot its not their money. What an example they are giving to the tax payers.
Someone forgot to tell the fire chiefs, it will take more than those 3 to convince Campbell and Cohen, the only two on the council with functioning brain cells, that a brand spanking new building is a necessity. Especially when crime is running wild in the city.
During the War with Station 2 there was a divider between the old station and the new. After careful and lengthy research the City found where the Volunteers had turned it over to the city in the 30's. It was too expensive to operate and the city took over the maintenance, heat etc. When the legal verification was found, the divider came down and the war soon ended. The Mayor didn't throw anybody out because Volunteers are needed. We both agree on that. What did leave was those with a twisted mentality and greed. Huff and Puff left a loser and those with the real Station 2 spirit are active today. Please do your research or better yet contact Robin Cockey. He can quickly tell you who the owner is.
Thin Wall
Yea that would be intresting to hear what Mr. Cockey has to say being he was the attorney for Sta.2 at the time when everthing hit the fan !!! maybe you need to go ask him yourself.!! there was and are lot of good members at sta 2 and for the most part they stand together as one, sounds like to me you might have been one of those people who the chief promised if you help him crush 2 you would be in the new leadership, thats right there was several deals made. But your great chief left you in the cold didnt he !!!!!!
joe, joe, joe,
they cant put the old station up as surplus , as u see the property belongs to shore distributors, not the city, not the volunteer corporation. So try blowing that smoke up somebody's behind that doesn't know better.
