Every crawl space in Sandstone court is flooded year round. The builder made it that way. This is going to be a future disaster for the owners.

If you are thinking of buying anywhere over there, get a home inspection first!

So, I see there's a new name for a broken pipe from freezing weather that should be a call to Joe the plumber. It's titled, "Flood With Electrical Hazards". Probably some dangerous rabbits in the yard as well! OH, MY!

These callers should be referred to a local plumber and charged with 911 abuse. But, no, it's an excuse to go for another fire truck ride with a lunch stop on the way back...

As the life threatening Pro Qa's are reaching epidemic levels.

Many citizens of our area have experienced water leaks and broken pipes due to the extreme cold weather. Those citizens call 911 for assistance and the fire department responds to help in any way possible. Sometimes it is a very simple task of finding and turning off a valve. Other times it involves a bigger process that includes water removal and placing salvage covers over the occupants valuables.

When a leak or break happens the citizen needs help now. Hundreds of gallons of water can enter their home quickly and destroy everything they own. If you call a plumber it may take hours or days. They too are quite busy answering calls for service. The fire departments job is not to repair the problem or take work from any trade. Their job is to simply respond and make every attempt to assist the citizen in their time of need. To prevent the unnecessary loss of property and prevent further loss.

I might add that this task is carried out by both Volunteer and Career members at a moments notice. It has been the practice of this and every other department throughout the United States for many years. The bottom line is that when you call the fire department for help they will come quickly and do their best to help.

My pipes don't always burst; But when they do, I call 9-1-1. Stay thirsty, my friends!

4:06, Really? You don't have Google Maps? It's a search engine to loc... oh, never mind. Buy a unit there and learn for yourself. And, hey, you won't need a home inspection...

Maybe we should call plumbers to put out fires. I am sure it would be cheaper than a bunch of paid firemen. And the plumbers probably pack their own lunches.

Many departments have stopped the practice of water removal due to complaints from plumbers and restoration companies like Servpro. Just like if you lock your keys in your car. Pop A Lock has filed suit in many cities citing unfair competition with non emergency lock pops done by fire/ police agencies.

I know my husband packs his every day (actually I pack it). Sometimes he doesn't even have time to eat it. There are times that the fire department needs to be called for broken pipes. It many cases it is an electrical hazard. I can recall one time that the pipe busted before the main cut off valve for the house. The cut off at the curb was not working either.

Call the water department, or if you are on a well pump, simply turn the breaker off. If it's in the middle of the night for a metered location, shut off the main valve, usually in arms reach of the crawl door. This is nor hard, and should be normal operating procedures for all homeowners.

Stupid people, I guess, are required to be in a separate category, and be in need of 9-1-1 help.

Because a mind is a terrible thing.
