Maryland Offers License-Free Fishing Days

The Maryland Department of Natural Resourcesinvites anglers to experience our state’s myriad waterways during license-free fishing days on June 1, June 8 and July 4. These annual events allow everyone the chance to test their fishing skills or reinvigorate their love of fishing without needing a license, trout stamp or registration.

Maryland hosts this opportunity annually on the first two Saturdays in June and on the Independence Day holiday. An individual may catch and possess finfish in any tidal and nontidal waters of Maryland, as long as it’s for recreational purposes.

“We are lucky to live in a state where you can fish in fresh, brackish and salt water — often all in the same day if you want,” Recreational Fishing Outreach Coordinator Erik Zlokovitz said. “This opportunity allows recreational anglers to try their hand at something new before committing to a license.”

All anglers must follow current size and catch limits. An online guide is available and a printed version can picked up at many service centers or local bait-and-tackle shops. Anglers are encouraged to submit their catches to the Maryland Angler’s Log or compete in the new FishMaryland competition. The department also has dozens of other resources to help new or experienced anglers, including angler access maps, Click Before You Cast and fish identification charts.

Anglers who decide to get or renew their license can do so either online, on the department’s mobile app, by phone or in person at any Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration licensing center.

Residents of Virginia Beach have been left fuming after Memorial Day weekend beachgoers left piles of garbage on the shore.

Public work crews and citizen volunteers responded to the Chic's Beach area of Virginia Beach before dawn on Monday to clean up after the mess left after the annual 'Floatopia' party.

A total of ten tons of garbage was removed from the shore, compared to the average of one ton following a typical weekend, WAVY-TV reported.

Video of the disgusting aftermath shot by resident Melissa Noel quickly went viral after she posted it on Facebook, drawing furious reactions from locals and elected officials alike.

Waller: Memorialize Our Fallen Heroes by Keeping America from Becoming a Memory

Every Memorial Day, I think about those men and women I know who died in combat against our nation’s enemies. I think especially about the families who lost Marines under my command and how I owe it to them to ensure that I preserve not only their memory, but the safety and security of the very nation for which they gave their lives.

Similarly, every American owes a debt of gratitude to the generations of warriors who preserved our nation’s freedom against the evils of Colonialism, Imperialism, Nazism, and Socialism/Communism. If Americans expect to maintain that freedom, we must match our gratitude with a commitment to defeat the threats that, today, could turn our Republic and our freedom into a memory. These types of threats are referred to as “existential” — they hold at risk the very existence of America as we know it.

Today’s “existential threats” are embodied in the “Red-Green Axis” and the methods by which those adversaries are currently working to bring an end to America. The Red-Green Axis is an ideological and political combination of Marxism-Leninism and Sharia. The “Red” part of this Axis consists of threats ranging from the Socialist and Communist states of Russia and China to the Socialist movement in the United States, part of which is firmly entrenched in American society and even within the American government.

Since its inception, those involved with the Torch Run have taken very seriously their role as “Guardians of the Flame”, and the relay is an important and celebrated part of every Special Olympics competition. Without the funds raised by those dedicated to the Torch Run efforts across this state, and across the world, Special Olympics would not be able to provide the inspiring opportunities that they do for our incredible athletes!

Statewide, the Maryland Torch Run Relay consists of four different legs – Eastern, Western, Central and Southern – and throughout the entire week, thousands of Torch Run volunteers will cover hundreds of miles, eventually converging on Towson where the individual flames will be united in the Final Leg Ceremony and then officers from around the state will travel the final 2.5 miles to the Opening Ceremony at Towson University. It is there that the Flame is handed off to the Special Olympics athletes who have the honor of taking the final lap with the torch and then lighting the cauldron and officially declaring the 2018 SOMD Summer Games open.

Better Marriages, Happier Women

We’ve been conditioned for decades to believe the key to a happy and enduring marriage is one based on “progressive” values and a rejection of the traditional religious views of the relationship between husband and wife. But new studies reveal otherwise.

That’s right: Married men and women are happier when religion is part of their lives.

Of a new report on marriage, faith, and families by the Institute for Family Studies and the Wheatley Institution, authors W. Bradford Wilcox, Jason S. Carroll, and Laurie DeRose write in The New York Times Sunday Review, “The happiest of all wives in America are religious conservatives, followed by their religious progressive counterparts. Fully 73 percent of wives who hold conservative gender values and attend religious services regularly with their husbands have high-quality marriages.”

Princess Anne Barrack DUI Checkpoint

During the upcoming weekend Troopers from the Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack will be out stopping impaired drivers by targeting those who put lives in danger.

On Friday, May 31st, the Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack will begin strict enforcement patrols by conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Somerset County. The goal will be to locate impaired drivers and to promote public awareness of the dangers of impaired driving.

If your weekend plans include consuming alcoholic beverages, plan a safe ride home or assign a designated driver as well. Keep in mind that impairment by alcohol and/or drugs can be deadly to you and your family. Drivers caught driving impaired can expect the impact of a DUI arrest to include jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes, license suspensions and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.

I am absolutely stunned.

Baltimore Teens Arrested After Allegedly Stealing Dirt Bikes; Leading Police On Chase Through 2 States

ABERDEEN, Md. (WJZ) — A 14-year-old and a 17-year-old from Baltimore are in police custody after they allegedly stole dirt bikes in Pennslyvania and then took police on a chase through two states.

Maryland State Police pursued two stolen vehicles Wednesday morning along the I-95 corridor in Harford and Cecil counties, causing severe traffic delays around the area.

According to Maryland officials, Pennsylvania State Police reported they were involved in a pursuit of two white vans around 5 a.m. Wednesday across state lines. The vans were stolen from Baltimore City and were traveling on Route 1 toward Maryland. Police believed the suspects stole dirt bikes from a Pennsylvania business.

Assateague Horse Incident Highlights Balloon Dangers

ASSATEAGUE — An Assateague wild horse nearly choking on and ultimately ingesting a piece of ribbon this week highlighted the dangers of balloon releases and potential impacts on wildlife.

On Monday, one of Assateague’s famed wild horses was seen struggling with a section of ribbon that had been attached to a latex balloon caught in its throat. National Park Service rangers attempted to intervene, but couldn’t get close to the struggling horse because the other horses in her band were so protective of her.

According to Assateague Island National Seashore Chief of Interpretation and Education Liz Davis, the horse was ultimately able to chomp through the ribbon and did not ingest the balloon although it is uncertain just how much of the ribbon she ingested. The incident illustrates the dangers of balloon releases and where they end up and ultimately impact wildlife.

POLL: AMERICANS DON’T WANT ‘CULTURALLY SENSITIVE’ MOVIE REMAKES

Most Americans don’t want politically correct movie remakes, a recent Morning Consult/Hollywood Reporter poll found.

Just 21 percent of those polled said filmmakers should get rid of offensive plotlines and stereotypes when remaking old movies, while 55 percent said they should adhere as closely to the original script as possible. The sentiment largely held true among Democrats, Republicans, whites, blacks and hispanics, according to the poll, published last week. Even among Democrats, the most opposed to adhering to the original, 47 percent said the remake should not “change with the times.”

Morning Consult tied the poll to Disney’s string of live-action remakes of old classics, most recently “Aladdin.” Earlier this year, Disney released a remake of “Dumbo.” The movie did not include a scene from the original in which Dumbo meets a group of racially stereotypical crows led by “Jim Crow.” And an upcoming remake of “Lady and the Tramp” will not include the Siamese cats featured in the original because they were deemed offensive to Asians.

I Toured the Texas-Mexico Border. Here Are 8 Things I Learned.

LAREDO, Texas—Guarding this sector of the southern border involves a set of challenges that is quite different than nearby stations in the Lone Star State.

I learned this during a tour of the border last week that included this city of about 250,000 across from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, just a few hours away across the Rio Grande Valley station.

I traveled along the 171-mile stretch of border as a reporter for The Daily Signal, and here’s some of what I learned firsthand from Border Patrol agents who guard it.

1. Cartel Control

The violent Cartel del Noreste controls and profits from illegal immigration across the southern border.

“The Laredo sector is unique compared to our bordering neighbors to the left and to the right of us, up river and down river, in that we sit right across the border from the headquarters of the Cartel del Noreste, formerly known [as] the Zetas Cartel,” Joel Martinez, deputy chief of the Border Patrol for the Laredo sector, told me during an interview.

“They are the main reason we are not getting the massive humanity coming at us,” Martinez said of the drug cartel, “because they control that part of the border so violently.”

Martinez continued:

"So last month they discovered through interviews with aliens that a lot of people were being held against their will until they could pay the Zetas, or the Cartel del Noreste. That being said, our agents were actually able to identify the smugglers and the keepers of these houses. And working with FBI and other federal partners, and also our Mexican partners, we were able to identify exactly where these stash houses were, and who these smugglers were.

"And keep in mind, they’re pretty ruthless. If you don’t pay, they start punishing these people severely until the families pay. So we just got a conviction on two of them on our side, on the American side; when they did come across, we were able to identify them."

REP THOMAS MASSIE BLOCKS DISASTER AID BILL

Kentucky Republican Rep. Thomas Massie blocked a disaster aid bill in the House by objecting to a unanimous consent vote Tuesday, delaying $19.1 billion dollars of aid.

“If the Speaker of this House felt that this was must-pass legislation, the Speaker of this House should have called a vote on this bill before sending every member of Congress on recess for 10 days and I object,” Massie said on the House floor.

This comes as Senate negotiators agreed to a nearly $20 billion disaster relief package for Americans Thursday, with hopes it would pass the House Friday. However, Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy originally blocked the disaster aid bill in the House by objecting to a unanimous consent vote, saying the bill should include funding for the crisis at the border and that members should be in town to actually vote on the legislation.

Roy thanked Massie, after he objected to the unanimous consent vote Tuesday, saying in a statement, “I commend my colleague, Rep. Massie, for objecting to today’s Unanimous Consent on a $19.1 billion-dollar emergency supplemental bill that has been languishing for over 8 months because Speaker Pelosi and the Democratic conference would rather play politics on impeachment than do the work of the people.”

If You Can Kill a Human Before They’re ‘Viable,’ Why Does Doing the Same to a Turtle End in Jail Time?

Hypocrisy is not a new look for the left.

While the left pickets on the front steps of state legislative halls over a bill that dare protect a human baby once a heartbeat is detected, they are silent when it comes to a law that protects the unviable fetuses of the Atlantic Loggerhead.

A quick read of Florida’s Marine Turtle Protection Act proves my point: “A person, firm, or corporation that illegally takes, disturbs, mutilates, destroys, causes to be destroyed, transfers, sells, offers to sell, molests, or harasses any marine turtle species or hatchling, or parts thereof, or the eggs or nest of any marine turtle species described in this subsection commits a felony of the third degree.“(FLA. 379.2431 (1)(d)(5))

Yes. You read that right.

Wife of math teacher says 'cultural confusion' led husband to play beer pong with students

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (ABC7) — The wife of a high school math teacher accused of playing beer pong with his students says "cultural confusion" led her husband to make an innocent mistake, which could now cost him his job.

Two weeks ago, Quince Orchard High School teacher Tadesse Goshime attended a graduation party at a home in Montgomery County. The family hosting the celebration had invited the 66-year-old because their child enjoyed interacting with him at school.

Upon entering the home, someone suggested Goshime mingle with a group of teens that had gathered in the basement. Goshime reportedly left the party approximately 30 minutes later with little fanfare.

DEMOCRATS’ NATIONAL POPULAR VOTE SCHEME

Is a devious plan in gear for Hillary's 2020 presidential run?

Former First Lady Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election of 2016, and the Democrat’s defeat at the hands of Donald Trump was the biggest story in the world. In September of 2017, Clinton went on record that the electoral college helped Donald Trump win the presidency and told CNN, “I think it needs to be eliminated. I’d like to see us move beyond it.” The proclamation did not get as much traction as her defeat, but the 2016 loser wasn’t done.

“I win the coast, I win, you know, Illinois and Minnesota, places like that,” proclaimed Clinton in a March, 2018 speech in Mumbai, India. “So I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward.” Clinton was on record that eliminating the electoral college was a move ahead, so by implication without that, “arcane election body,” as CNN put it, the progressive Democrat would win in a landslide.

Establishment media have been slow to track Democrat efforts to eliminate or weaken the electoral college. Fortunately, Tara Ross has been keeping watch for the Daily Signal.

Clarence Thomas Exposes Abortion's Ties to Racist Eugenics in Scathing Fetal Remains Case Opinion

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court refused to take up the issue of Indiana's ban on abortion specifically for the sex, race, or disability of the baby to be killed. Justice Clarence Thomas wrote a powerful opinion revealing the connections between the racist eugenics movement and the abortion movement. He warned that if Planned Parenthood is able to get sex-selective, race-specific, and disability-targeted abortions codified as a woman's right under the Constitution, that would enshrine a horrific movement rightly left in the past.

"Enshrining a constitutional right to an abortion based solely on the race, sex, or disability of an unborn child, as Planned Parenthood advocates, would constitutionalize the views of the 20th-century eugenics movement," Thomas warned. "In other contexts, the Court has been zealous in vindicating the rights of people even potentially subjected to race, sex, and disability discrimination."

Yet abortion activists argue that Roe v. Wade (1973) was correct in ruling that abortion is a fundamental right for women. They claim that this right should override any other concerns, even race, sex, and disability discrimination applied to an unborn baby.

Thomas condemned this abortion argument, showing how it echoes the disgusting eugenics movement. He argued that the Indiana law "and other laws like it promote a State's compelling interest in preventing abortion from becoming a tool of modern-day eugenics."

Supreme Court Upholds Indiana Fetal Remains Law Against Planned Parenthood Challenge

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court upheld an Indiana law treating the bodies of aborted babies the same as other deceased human bodies, acknowledging their humanity despite a challenge from Planned Parenthood. The Court reversed the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, which ruled that Indiana's fetal remains law involved a state interest that was not "legitimate."

In a nearly unanimous decision, the Court ruled that Indiana did indeed have a "legitimate" reason to prohibit the inhuman disposal of human remains, noting that even Planned Parenthood did not claim that this law would prevent women from obtaining abortions.

As Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in his concurrence, "Indiana law prohibits abortion providers from treating the bodies of aborted children as 'infectious waste' and incinerating them alongside used needles, laboratory-animal carcasses, and surgical byproducts. ... A panel of the Seventh Circuit held that this fetal-remains law was irrational, and thus unconstitutional, under the doctrine of 'substantive due process.' That decision was manifestly inconsistent with our precedent, as the Court holds."

Liberal groups sue over Trump administration's conscience objection rule

A collection of legal groups sued the Trump administration Tuesday over new rules that protect medical workers with religious objections from being forced to provide or refer to abortion, sterilization, or medically assisted suicide.

The Center for Reproductive Rights, Lambda Legal, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and Santa Clara County are asking the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of California to strike down the rule, which they are referring to as the "denial of care rule." The groups are representing medical facilities, community centers, and civil rights organizations across the U.S.

"Religious liberty is the right to believe or not, to worship or not, as you see fit," Richard Katskee, legal director at Americans United for Separation of Church and State, said in a phone call with reporters. "When it is distorted into being a weapon, a way to discriminate against and harm other people, to make them bear the costs and burdens of your religious exercise, that goes way beyond what is constitutionally permissible, yet that is exactly what the government has licensed here."

Survivors of Horrific Christian Persecution in Iran Find Blessings, Support in America

People come from around the nation and across the globe to lobby members of the U.S. Congress and the president to support their causes, but one room in the Hart Senate Office Building on Wednesday resembled a mix of a church service and a plea for help to stop the horrific persecution of Christians and other religious minorities in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Pastors, lawmakers, and survivors of incarceration in the infamous Evin Prison took turns at the podium telling stories of fear, isolation, torture, and even death. But a message of hope prevailed as people testified that despite their mistreatment and because of their faith, they felt God was in control, and they laid claim to a future where freedom to worship as a universal right would be possible.

“The ultimate freedom for the human species is the freedom to be able to have a relationship with God almighty under the terms and conditions that they choose,” Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH) said at the International Christian Concern’s Capitol Hill Policy Day event.

MENKEN/HENDERSON: Donald Trump Is Healing The Country

From the moment President Donald Trump launched his run for office in 2016, the media and the Left have claimed that he has used racially-charged language and exacerbated ethnic tensions in this country. A pair of sociologists at the University of Pennsylvania, Daniel Hopkins and Samantha Washington, recently set out to measure the result of what they described as President Trump’s “explicit, negative rhetoric targeting ethnic/racial minorities.”

What they discovered was, to them, astounding. Though they expected racism to be flourishing under Trump, “white Americans’ expressed anti-black and anti-Hispanic prejudice declined after the 2016 campaign and election”. After carefully studying the evidence proving the media’s claims to be false, they came to the sort of truly-learned conclusion only possible in the ivory towers of academia: This demonstrated a “thermostatic response,” in which people move in the opposite direction from their leaders.

The possibility that their underlying assumption might be as faulty as their hypothesis never seemed to cross their minds.

Writing in the Spectator, Ross Clark offered a second option:

Border Patrol seeks babysitters to care for illegal immigrants so agents can return to field

The Border Patrol says it’s looking to create a new category of job that would take babysitting duties out of the hands of agents and give them over to support personnel, freeing the agents to return to the front lines patrolling the border.

The agency says it’ll be 2020 before they are ready to ramp up, and they have no sense for how many people they’ll need, what the training will look like or whether they’ll be able to find enough applicants.

But they revealed the outlines of the plan Tuesday, saying they wanted to be transparent about where they’re hoping to go, if they get approval and money.

It’s the latest in a series of moves intended to try to find something that can change the dynamics of the ongoing border surge.

“Border Patrol Processing Coordinators will take on processing, transportation, and custody responsibilities, which will free up agents for critical law enforcement operations,” said Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost.

DHS Fast-Tracks Migrants Straight into Jobs

The Department of Homeland Security has put hundreds of thousands of Central American migrants on a fast-track to jobs and a slow-track to deportation.

The revelation was hidden in a brief statement by acting DHS secretary Kevin McAleenan, who told the Senate on May 23 hearing that 100 percent of migrants carrying children are released, some without asking for asylum, and are allowed to get work permits as soon as 30 days.

The DHS is releasing the migrants on the fast-track process “because they do not have the space” to detain migrants long enough to start the deportation process, said Andrew Arthur, a former immigration judge who works at the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington, DC-based research. Congress will not fund shelters to hold more than 2,500 migrants with children, so it is allowing the border agencies to be overwhelmed by the rush of migrants.

A Viewer Writes **Electoral College**

I'm sure the majority of Conservatives who visit this blog, know why we have the Electoral College.

The states determined this concept so they each had equal representation in the voting process.

All states have representatives in Congress from all those states , because of this Electoral Concept.

Those states....like Delaware and potentially Maryland soon, want to do away with the Electoral College.

Well than ,
President Trump should fire those State representatives in Congress due to the fact....their State is not represented now as result of forfeiture of the Electoral College

Bet your butt, once President Trump announces he needs to terminate those reps....the idiot Demoncrats will stop this bull crap.

Abortion Debate Shows How Media Deploys Language Gymnastics to Serve Left-Wing Goals

“Pregnancy Kills. Abortion Saves Lives.”

That was the headline on an absurd opinion article in The New York Times, deploying Orwellian language to turn the abortion debate on pro-lifers and comfort those who support abortion on demand.

While the conversation over Alabama’s new abortion law has drawn out some wild arguments from the left, it’s easy to miss the less obvious ways the media reinforce the pro-abortion side.

The media, cleverly and often subtly, use rhetorical adjustments to reinforce left-wing ideas under the guise of objectivity.

The Real Inclusive Approach to Immigrants

Is President Donald Trump’s call for patriotic assimilation, which is a part of his immigration package, a step toward totalitarianism and fascism? These are the hyperbolic claims made in a contentious op-ed by Fabiola Santiago, a columnist at the Miami Herald.

Santiago highlighted my own work in this field, citing a 2016 paper. While ordinarily I don’t react to criticism, especially when over the top, in this case a response makes it possible to elucidate some points.

For starters, she’s wrong.

As it is often the case with those whose proposals actually lead to a reduction in our freedoms, Santiago wraps her argument as a rousing defense of liberty: Assimilation would mean “the end of the romantic notion that we are a free people who can speak as we like, feel as we feel, be who we are, without fear of government reprisals,” she writes.

Troops Wearing ‘Make Aircrew Great Again’ Patch Triggers Outrage from Left

Mass outrage on the left ensued after photos emerged of United States sailors aboard the USS Wasp wearing “Make Aircrew Great Again” patches with President Trump’s likeness on them.

The images were first reported by White House reporters traveling with the president on his trip to Japan, where he stopped at a U.S. military base in Yokosuka.

After the photos surfaced online, leftist commentators and pundits began calling for the airmen to be punished, claiming they had violated the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) for engaging in political activity while in uniform.

One man who calls himself a “liberal provocateur” tried to alert their commander:

Dear Sirs. @USSWaspLHD1 your sailors/airmen are in clear violation of UCMJ bringing disgrace to the Wasp and the US Navy. Who ordered this? Who paid for it? What say you?pic.twitter.com/xFA8gIecBn

— Claude Taylor (@TrueFactsStated) May 28, 2019

He had also called them wearing the patch “fascism,” and asked if they had “armbands, too”:

Meteorologist Snaps at Viewers as Tornado Warning Interrupts ‘The Bachelorette’

A meteorologist for Fox 45 in Dayton, Ohio snapped at viewers who complained on social media about a tornado warning that interrupted Monday night’s broadcast of “The Bachelorette,” saying that the cutaway was due to a “dangerous situation.”

“I was just checking social media, we have viewers complaining already. ‘Just go back to the show.’ No, we’re not going back to the show, folks. This is a dangerous situation, okay,” Jamie Simpson said during the live broadcast.

Simpson scolded viewers who cared more about who Hannah Brown would give the next rose to than to a dangerous weather situation, which caused massive damage to the region.

“Think about if this was your neighborhood. I’m sick and tired of people complaining about this,” Simpson said. “Our job here is to keep people safe, and that is what we’re going to do. Some of you complained that this is all about my ego. Stop. It’s not. I’m done with you people, I really am, this is pathetic.”

Report on Chesapeake Bay clean-up effort: States not on track

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A new Chesapeake Bay Foundation report examining the state of the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint found good and bad news.

The report claims that no state is completely on track to meet the 2025 goal to restore water quality, but Virginia and Maryland are close to being on track. Pennsylvania, however, never met its nitrogen reduction targets and its current plan to achieve the 2025 goal is woefully inadequate, detailing only two-thirds of actions necessary to achieve its goal.

“A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and that is also true for the partnership working to restore water quality across the region,” CBF President William C. Baker said. “Today, unfortunately, Pennsylvania’s link is not only weak, it is broken.”

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation assessed Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia’s milestone progress and whether or not states are implementing the pollution-reduction commitments they made. Together, those three states are responsible for 90 percent of the pollution fouling the Bay and its rivers and streams.

They died for their Christian faith.

On the holiest day in the Christian calendar, three bombs ripped through Christian churches, killing hundreds who had gathered peacefully to celebrate Christ’s resurrection from the dead.
