Obamacare Leaves Doctors On The Hook For Deadbeats

The Affordable Care Act doles out three months of free health care to individuals who choose to default on their premiums; providers and insurers pick up the tab.

Tucked inside nearly 11,000 pages of the Affordable Care Act is a little-known provision that doles out three months of free health care to individuals who choose to default on their premiums.
People who receive the federal subsidy to be part of Obamacare will be allowed to incur a three-month “grace period” if they can’t pay their premiums and then simply cancel their policies, stiffing the doctors and hospitals.

Their only repercussion is that they have to wait until the following year’s open enrollment if they want coverage on the exchange.

“It will help break the system,” said Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, one of a core group of Republicans who oppose Obamacare. “This is a huge piece of evidence to show this can’t work, you will break the system and bankrupt people involved.

Happy 238th Birthday To The U.S. Marine Corps

Nov 10, 1775:

Birth of the U.S. Marine Corps

During the American Revolution, the Continental Congress passes a resolution stating that "two Battalions of Marines be raised" for service as landing forces for the recently formed Continental Navy. The resolution, drafted by future U.S. president John Adams and adopted in Philadelphia, created the Continental Marines and is now observed as the birth date of the United States Marine Corps.

Serving on land and at sea, the original U.S. Marines distinguished themselves in a number of important operations during the Revolutionary War. The first Marine landing on a hostile shore occurred when a force of Marines under Captain Samuel Nicholas captured New Province Island in the Bahamas from the British in March 1776. Nicholas was the first commissioned officer in the Continental Marines and is celebrated as the first Marine commandant. After American independence was achieved in 1783, the Continental Navy was demobilized and its Marines disbanded.

Fox News Reporter’s Case Highlights Need For Federal Media Shield Laws, Panel Says

A panel of Fox News contributors spoke out this week in support of FoxNews.com reporter Jana Winter, who faces possible jail time for refusing to reveal the sources of her reporting in the case of Aurora, Col., gunman James Holmes.

"As a source, I sort of expect people to pull a Judy Miller, right?" said Julie Roginsky, referring to Miller's 2005 stint in jail after refusing to name sources involved in her reporting of the Valerie Plame case.

"If a judge ever went to them and said, 'who gave you this information?' I would fully expect them to stand by me no matter what because you have that sort of source confidentiality, which to me is sort of like attorney-client privilege," she said.

Delmar Delaware Mayor Houlihan And Council Screw Up Again

I can't believe they did it! They put a price tag on the most precious commodity Delmar has and decided it wasn't worth the money! The Delmar, Delaware Council decided against putting a School Resource Officer, (SRO) at Delmar High School!

Several months ago, Delmar applied for a grant that would help fund an School Resource Officer. The grant would pay 75% of the salary of this SRO over a three year period. The fourth year would be fully funded by the school. The officer would spend 9 months at the school and the summer months patrolling. Funding was discussed. Of the 25% match, the Delmar School district would be responsible for paying 3/4 of the salary. The other 1/4 would be funded by other sources. The Delmar Police Department offered to pay for 33% if Delmar, De and Delmar Maryland would each pay 33%. AND DELMAR, DELAWARE DENIED IT!!

What are they thinking??!!! I know what they are thinking. They now have police officers walking through the school once or twice a day, so why have an officer there full time? The truth of the matter is that police officers didn't have this extra duty until a certain Mayor's children began attending. Pretty convenient that it also helped give them a reason to reject the grant for an SRO! And THIS is your Citizen of the Year?

Again, this is something that the Delmar, Maryland Council supported but couldn't get because Delaware didn't see a need!

When are the people of Delmar, Delaware going to see that their elected officials don't care about them! They obviously don't care about your children! Did they even ask any of those that they represent what THEY wanted? Of course not! To put in any more than one hour a month is too much to ask for that council!

Remember this at the next election! They wouldn't even come up with a few hundred measly dollars for the safety of your children!!

Names And Faces You Might See Running For Wicomico County Council

 Muir Boda
 John Cannon
 Larry Dodd

I'd like to say that there are some new faces, new ideas, new blood, but from what I've seen and heard so far this is what you might get.

Is there anyone else out there we might be missing?

Don't Forget To Vote Today In Pittsville: UPDATE: Is George Whitehead A Black Panther?

I just received word from a Pittsville resident that George Whitehead is sitting at a table INSIDE the voting area just across from the voting booths.

Now ANYWHERE else in the state of Maryland the laws are, you must be at least 100 feet from the entrance doors of the building. One has to wonder just how Town Attorney Paul Wilber has their election rules set up.

The election board was called and they recommended they contact the Town about the matter but guess what, the people who answer those kind of questions are the ones in the election. How convenient.

Salisbury Police Department Makes "Huge" Mistake

I say "Huge" because most of the Salisbury Police Officers trying to actually FIT into this vehicle simply cannot do so. Many Officers are banging up and bruising their knees because they just can't get in.

Remember now, these vehicles are loaded with all kinds of extra equipment as well and Mayor Ireton and Chief Duncan have ordered a FLEET of these tiny GM vehicles.

There are times when saving gas simply doesn't work. Trying to fit someone you've just arrested is also a major challenge. If an Officer is 5-10 or taller, forget it, they just aren't going to easily get in and out of these vehicles.

Once again your Salisbury Leadership has made a HUGE mistake at taxpayer expense.

Long-Time Humane Society Director Forced Out After 37 Years

WEST OCEAN CITY — Amid allegations of coercion and duress, long-time Worcester County Humane Society Director Kenille Davies last weekend confirmed she was stepping down after 37 years on the job at the West Ocean City facility during an impassioned speech at the organization’s annual fundraising dinner.

At the annual fundraising dinner at Adolfo’s, Davies addressed the fact she was stepping down as director of the Worcester County Humane Society and made it clear it was not her decision.

According to Davies, two Board of Directors members and their attorney are forcing her out after her years of service running the organization’s facility in West Ocean City near Eagle’s Landing and replacing her with an unnamed individual at a salary of $50,000.

Maryland Man Shoots Home Intruder: Charged With Murder

“Why didn’t you call 911?” This is the only argument the State of Maryland has against Matthew Pinkerton. Matt is a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He shot and killed a home intruder by the name of Kendall Green, just before 2 a.m. on September 15, 2013 in the town of Glen Burnie, Maryland.

As reported by the Capital Gazette:
“Pinkerton shot Green once in the chest from 10 to 15 feet away, but Green continued to advance toward him, his wife Jessica and two friends who were at the house, [Peter] O’Neill (Pinkerton’s attorney) said. That’s when Pinkerton shot him again. He died at the scene.”

The state has charged Matthew Pinkerton with 2nd Degree Murder. Their sole basis for this charge is that he should have called 911. There is no nationwide average response time for a 911 call, however unless they are faster than 1,310 ft/s, there really is no point in calling 911 in the case of a hostile home invasion. While the Assistant State’s Attorney, Glen Neubauer, maintains that he should have called 911, and that even the act of grabbing the gun in the first place is “bizarre behavior in itself,” Pinkerton’s lawyer, Peter O’Neill, said it best when he acknowledged that, “By the time 911 is called, he’s dead.”

Smart Meters

Joe:Thought you would be interested to know that I had a knock on my door this morning and there was a technician from Delmarva Power at my door. He said he was here to "update" my electric meter. I asked if that was a "smart" meter and he said yes. I told him I had opted out of this and did not want it. He left. My point is: I opted out and they are still showing up to install these meters. So what would have happened if I was not at home, would they have installed it any way? Apparently opting out means nothing. Thanks. Thought people might want to know this information.

Mizeur Pledges Income Tax Relief To Most Marylanders But Would Raise Rates On Wealthy

Del. Heather R. Mizeur proposed an income tax cut Wednesday of up to $150 a year for the vast majority of Marylanders that would be offset by a tax hike on the state’s highest earners.

The Democratic gubernatorial hopeful also called for gradually raising Maryland’s minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $16.70 by 2022 as part of larger economic plan.

“We know that when we put more money into the hands of middle-class workers, it gets spent, boosting the economy,” Mizeur (D-Montgomery) said, promising she would be “a champion for middle-class Marylanders.”

UPDATE: Shelter Director Stepping Down Amid Controversy; Board’s Side Partially Revealed

WEST OCEAN CITY — Amid hints of coercion, long-time Worcester County Humane Society Director Kenille Davies last weekend announced she was stepping down after 37 years on the job at the West Ocean City facility during an impassioned speech at an annual fundraising dinner.

Davies announced last Friday at the dinner at Adolfo’s she was stepping down as director of the Worcester County Humane Society but made it clear it was a not a voluntary decision. According to Davies, two Board of Directors members and their attorney are forcing her out and replacing her with an unnamed individual at a salary of $50,000.

Several sources close to the situation maintained this week an internal investigation into the shelter’s finances revealed numerous concerns and serious questions, and, as a result, Davies has reportedly been offered a two-year severance package to retire at the end of the month. No specific allegations of any wrongdoing by the long-time director have been made public. The humane society’s Board of Directors declined to comment on the situation this week, and attorneys have reportedly been hired by Davies as well as board members.

PRMC To Open Their Own Pharmacy

Once again PRMC, (who pays no taxes in the City of Salisbury claiming to be a not for profit Hospital) will soon open its very own Pharmacy inside the Hospital. This will compete with the local mom and pop shops as well as chain Pharmacies.

They will cater to in patient customers as well as their entire Staff of employees at PRMC.

Obama: 'I'm Sorry' Americans Are Losing Insurance

Seeking to calm a growing furor, President Barack Obama said Thursday he's sorry Americans are losing health insurance plans he repeatedly said they could keep under his signature health care law. But the president stopped short of apologizing for making those promises in the first place.

"I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me," he said in an interview with NBC News.

Signaling possible tweaks to the law, Obama said his administration was working to close "some of the holes and gaps" that were causing millions of Americans to get cancellation letters. Officials said he was referring to fixes the administration can make on its own, not legislative options some congressional lawmakers have proposed.

In the piece, Metz speaks out against modern parenting and political correctness, writing about an incident involving her son’s pick for show and tell.

“Hendrix was picking out what he wanted to take to school for Show & Tell. He chose a little Imaginext action figure … with the action figure comes a little yellow object […] He gathered the action figure … and the yellow drill and proudly told me he’d chosen that for Show & Tell. Then you could see him thinking. And he promptly changed his mind and said to me, ‘You know what, I better not take this. My teacher will probably think it’s a gun, and then I’ll get in trouble,’” Metz writes.

Kmart To Open At 6 A.M. On Thanksgiving For Shoppers Who Hate Their Families

Just in case you hate your family so much that you can’t wait until 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving to pretend that shopping at Macy’s, JCPenney, or Sears is more important than spending the holidays with your “loved ones,” Kmart — the store you used to buy socks at before the Walmart opened in your area — has decided to open at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving to give you shelter from nagging questions about your job, love life, hair, friends, and why you never call.Kmart isn’t just opening early for the throngs of people who simply can’t spend a single second more talking to their Aunt Ida, don’t really care about their little brother’s opinion regarding the college football ranking system, or the rank odor of cousin Stan’s “secret recipe dry rub turkey” roasting in the oven. The store is also providing a true safe haven for family haters by staying open straight until 11 p.m. on Black Friday, just in time for you to sneak back into your parents’ house, grab your bag and claim you have to leave because there is a work emergency you need to tend to immediately.

A Comment Worthy Of A Post 11-6-13

Anonymous said...

We have had at least 3 large protests in D.C. recently. Bikers, truckers and now miners. All peaceful, on the part of the protesters. Can't say the same for government agents or the police.

All of you are blind to what is going on right in front your noses.

Arming and equipping the police like the military. Police brutality, illegal actions committed by the police, AND CLEARED of any wrongdoing. Which includes violating rights and MURDERING people, kids and pets.

And yet there are those among you who applaud these police actions. Even a 13 year old kid got what he had coming according to some of you.

Those people might as well go join the police side. They are not on our side, nor do we want them with their current way of thinking and allowing abuses and CRIMINAL ACTS to go unchecked, much less punished.

The government is prodding us every single day, in every way they can think of to provoke us to do something. Yet we sit on our collective asses, doing nothing other than bitching and moaning and saying 'someone' ought to do something.

There are people out here who would LOVE to do something. But the signals we see from some of you is that you really DON'T WANT anyone to do anything. If you did, you would not say crap like the kid deserved to be murdered. Even shot while on the ground facing away from the cops.

You people really don't care. You're fat, lazy and happy in your own little bubbles. You think a peaceful protest here and there will change the minds of those in power, and they will say, oh, I'm sorry. You are right, I have done terrible things. I will resign and give my power back to you.

That scenario will NEVER happen.

People are getting fed up and protesting. That's a good thing. It shows others they are not alone in their disgust of this admin and the police.

The founders of this country took enormous risks becoming free. Many lost their houses, fortunes, and just about anything they could lose.

Some of you won't risk missing an episode of your favorite tv show.

Until you are prepared to risk losing something, your money, your house, your LIFE, nothing will change. It will only get worse.

You have to be prepared to die, and KILL, if you want your country and your freedoms back.

How many of you are willing to do that?

You can't expect others to do it for you if you are not willing to do the same.

Stop looking for that 'someone else' and start looking at YOURSELVES.

Under Pressure, Delmar Delaware Mayor Houlihan Reinstates Commitment For SRO

Based on the FACT that it was Salisbury News who broke the story about Mayor Houlihan and the Town Council refusing to fork up the $300.00 to keep the School Resource Officer, (SRO) in Delmar Middle and High School, Houlihan called for a special meeting this morning.

It was decided, AFTER I personally offered to pay out of pocket for the Resource Officer, Delmar Delaware has now agreed to fulfill their original commitment and pony up the money and reverse their formal decision.

Houlihan stated it was just a misunderstanding. He claims that Rob Thompson had seconded the motion BUT NO ONE HEARD HIM. The Council then proceeded to DROP it and now, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, it was a misunderstanding. YEAH, RIGHT!

In other words, citizens got PISSED OFF as Salisbury News was the ONLY source to expose what had happened and the pressure was, (once again) on. This clown of a Mayor needs to go.

Oh, and when Houlihan finds out who my source is he's going to make damn sure they are fired.

DAD’S ATTEMPT TO TEACH SON A LESSON ENDS IN THE MOST TRAGIC WAY IMAGINABLE

When James Comstock refused to buy his 19-year-old son a pack of cigarettes, the teenager took off with his dad’s truck. In an attempt to teach his son a lesson, Comstock called the police and reported his vehicle stolen.

The attempted lesson ended with police fatally shooting the man’s son, Tyler, on the Iowa State University campus.

The father is now outraged and confused as to why police were so quick to use deadly force.

Three Armed Robberies In Salisbury Maryland Today?

Sources have informed me that there were three armed robberies in Salisbury today. My source said it came directly from a Salisbury Officer.

WBOC had an interview yesterday, (so I'm told) with Chief Duncan who admitted crime, (theft) was up in Salisbury. It should be known to all of you, I forwarded pictures and information to WBOC and the Daily Times about the 4 A/C units stolen from our roof tops and both have refused to publish/broadcast it.

I personally feel the public should be made aware of it as hundreds of units were stolen in the City and County over the summer. Many were taken from foreclosed homes. IF the public was made aware stuff like this was going on they might be more open to keeping a better eye on their neighbors and report suspicious  activity.

It's a shame how vindictive the local media is. Maybe I should call it retaliation, I don't know. It's an even bigger shame that your local media covers up crime because of the pressure of local civic organizations putting pressure on them to try to keep everything nice in Salisbury.

All is good though because it was published here and we get more local traffic than they do anyway.

Food-Stamps Folly

Donna Brazile says Republicans’ proposed cuts are “cruel,” but who’s really heartless?

Democratic strategist Donna Brazile recently penned a column for CNN about food stamps and it went positively viral, generating lots of buzz and more than 5,000 comments to date. For voting to slow the growth of food stamps over ten years and increase oversight to prevent fraud, Brazile called House Republicans “pure and simple heartless” and equated their vote with lacing up “some combat boots with rough, crushing soles to kick and kick again the 48 million Americans who count on food stamps.”

In typical liberal fashion, Brazile turns notions of compassion and dignity on their head, casting big government and its devotees as the righteous defenders of the poor and calling anyone who challenges the efficacy of government anti-poverty programs, or who even dares to suggest we reinstate commonsense work requirements that Obama gutted, heartless monsters who kick poor people while they are down.

Doctors said yes, and Bowers chose to take no extra measures to stay alive. He died Sunday, hours after his breathing tube was removed.

You Lie

Never before in the history of the Republic has a president lied so boldly, so unequivocally, so repeatedly about a matter that has such a significant impact on hundreds of millions of Americans — and that also happens to be his administration’s signature achievement.

Before Obamacare we had, for all it’s faults, the finest health-care system in the world. But 47 million were uninsured. We were told Obamacare would insure them. So Obamacare blew up the best health-care system in the world and yet 30 million will remain uninsured. The core reason for the law was a lie.

In return for the bright, shining, false promise of Obamacare, 3.5 million Americans have had their plans terminated, and that number is expected to rise to over 100 million when all of the law’s mandates kick-in. Millions won’t have their preferred choice of doctors or hospitals, and many doctors and hospitals simply refuse to participate in the train wreck. Medical technology and innovation are stifled by the law’s tax and regulatory burdens. The promise of improved health care was a lie.

Daily Times Has Hidden Price Increase To Subscribers

There are many customers/subscribers to the Daily Times who are on what they call an easy pay program. This is where they get billed a specific amount of money each month for the paper.

One customer noticed an increase in their latest bill. Why, because the Daily Times is, (without your knowledge) charging $1.74 more for your upcoming Thanksgiving Newspaper.

When the Daily Times was called and questioned about the increase they stated that they have additional sale flyers in the paper. This means the Daily Times is making MUCH more money than usual from those ADVERTISERS, so why charge the subscriber more money for the paper? The Daily Times stated it cost them more money for their carriers to deliver a larger paper, therefore the subscribers have to pay for it.

So each of the subscribers are paying an additional $1.74 per paper and one customer/subscriber asked, are you paying the carrier $1.74 additional for each paper delivered? They had no comment.

Mardela High School Wins State Semi Finals

Joe...is a shame that no local media were in Cambridge tonight to cover the MD 1A boys regional final featuring Mardela HS and Cambridge South Dorchester HS. Mardela boys won 2-1 to advance to the 1A state semifinals on Saturday against North Carroll HS. Guess you have to be a big city school to get some media coverage.

This is the first time they have gone this far since 1973.

Pittsville Candidate George Whited Sits Inside Election Room

As we mentioned in an earlier Post today, this Candidate sat inside the voting area in what some have said an intimidating environment.

Leave it to the Pittsville Good Ol' Boys to do whatever they like. This needs to be investigated. One witness told me they went back an hour and a half later and he was still sitting there.

BREAKING NEWS: Terry McAuliffe Projected To Win Virginia Gubernatorial Race

Democrat Terry McAuliffe is projected to defeat Republican Ken Cuccinelli in the Virginia gubernatorial election.

HOLDER: WE MIGHT STILL PROSECUTE ZIMMERMAN

Despite the complete failure of both local and federal law enforcement to find any evidence whatsoever of George Zimmerman’s supposed racism ending in the death of black teenager Trayvon Martin in February 2012 in Florida, the Obama administration continues to threaten prosecution against Zimmerman. On Monday, Attorney General Eric Holder said that despite Zimmerman’s acquittal in his second-degree murder trial, the Department of Justice was still considering whether to bring civil rights charges against Zimmerman. “I'm not sure exactly how much longer that will take, but we will get to a point where we are able to make a determination,” he said.

The Obama administration has taken an incredibly active role in the Zimmerman case, with President Obama originally intervening before Zimmerman’s arrest to state that if he had a son, he would have looked like Trayvon Martin; after Zimmerman’s acquittal, Obama gave a speech on race relations in America implying that Zimmerman had racially profiled Martin.

CUCCINELLI CAMPAIGN SAYS NATIONAL GOP ABANDONED THEM: 'WE WERE ON OUR OWN'

A campaign strategist for Republican Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli said that the national GOP abandoned the campaign in its final days.

At the end of the race, Cuccinelli was closing in on Democrat Terry McAuliffe, who eked out a two-point victory on Tuesday despite exit polls that showed McAuliffe was up by seven points.

According to the Washington Post, Chris La Civita said that financial support from national Republican sources dried up on October 1.

“There are a lot of questions people are going to be asking and that is, was leaving Cuccinelli alone in the first week of October, a smart move?” La Civita said after Cuccinelli's concession speech, according to the Post. “We were on our own. Just look at the volume [of ads].”

‘SHUT THE F*** UP’: YOU MAY JUST START LAUGHING AT HOW WORKED UP SOME ON THE LEFT ARE OVER CMA AWARDS MOCKING OBAMACARE

Though video the CMA Awards’ opening act mocking Obamacare went almost immediately viral, not everyone thought the skit was funny. In fact, some on the left were downright furious that the awards show dared to mock President Barack Obama and his signature health care law.

As reported by TheBlaze, country music superstars Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood performed “Obamacare by Morning,” a spoof based on George Strait’s remake of Terry Stafford’s 1973 classic “Amarillo by Morning,” after Paisley faked a back injury. The crowd erupted in applause and sent the Internet buzzing. Even the “Duck Dynasty” crew made a surprise appearance.

NEW MEXICO MAN REALLY HAD NO IDEA WHAT HE WAS IN FOR AFTER COPS PULLED HIM OVER FOR NOT USING HIS BLINKER

A man in New Mexico was pulled over by police for a minor traffic violation. When officers said a K-9 unit sniffed drugs on the driver’s seat, the officers forced the man to undergo invasive medical procedures, including an anal exam.

It may sound nearly identical to David Eckert’s nightmarish story as reported by TheBlaze Tuesday, but this is an entirely different incident.

It does, however, involve the same uncertified drug-sniffing dog in New Mexico. The dog’s name is Leo.

Police in Lordsburg, N.M., pulled over Timothy Young for allegedly turning without using his blinker, according to police reports. Though it is unclear why, the officers with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department suspected the driver of possessing drugs, KOB-TV reported.

It's Time To Put This 9/11 Conspiracy Thing To Rest Once And For All

There is a lot of hearsay and folklore surrounding this event which may or may not be true. So we're going to need to sift through some news-clips, firsthand testimony and whatever else that can provide credible information on this important topic. There comes a point that you learn too much and you can't revert back to ignorance. In a way it's very much like when you first realized that Santa Claus is really a fiction. At that point there is really no amount of logic that can resurrect your belief in Santa again. So when did you quit believing in Santa Claus?

As kids we believed in Santa Claus. Our parents were the gatekeepers of information and, though benign, our environment during that formative time was a controlled one. We were taught to believe in Santa Claus. Initially we accepted all the information that we received at face value. However, as time progressed, we gained bits and pieces of information that led to a cognitive dissonance which, in turn, led us to question our image of Santa Claus. These “bits and pieces” led to questions such as “How could Santa Claus fit through my chimney” or “How does Santa Claus leave gifts in millions of homes during a single night”? Armed with all these bits and pieces of information, we began to get a different picture that caused all the previous illogic that we had learned to come crashing down. This finally led to an epiphany that Santa Claus really isn’t anything like what we had first thought!

There are other things in life that we have always taken for granted as “fact” that later prove to be only an illusion as well. It’s only a matter of getting more information. As in the case of the Santa Claus myth, it is only a matter of time as new evidence unfolds that we are forced to rethink our view on what the truth is.

GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE

Last week the Salisbury Police Department needed access to my roof to assess the damage and evidence left behind by the people who stole my A/C units as well as the ones on the Opportunity Shop.

In order to do the job properly the SPD needed equipment that would allow them to view each roof. I suggested they call the Salisbury Fire Department and without hesitation they came right away.

They were more than just kind and courteous. They were truly professional and it couldn't have been done without them. Thank You!

ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS START MARYLAND DRIVER’S LICENSE PROCESS TODAY

ANNAPOLIS – Illegal immigrants can begin the process to get a Maryland driver’s license beginning Monday, Nov. 4, according to Philip Dacey, a spokesman for the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration.

The first step is to schedule an appointment to get a driver’s license in January, Dacey said.

Under the Maryland Highway Safety Act, passed in early April, those residents who live in the state illegally are now eligible for a license, effective Jan. 1, 2014, that cannot be used for federal purposes like boarding a plane or entering a government building, Dacey said.

The “second-tier license”—part of a two-tier licensing system that makes Maryland the only state on the East Coast to issue licenses to illegal immigrants—gives drivers the same rights on the road as a regular license, but cannot be used as identification. The words “Not Acceptable for Federal Purposes” is written across the top.

A Letter To The Editor: Chris Adams Running For House of Delegates

Joe,

I've noticed in all the articles written about Chris Adams they only state he is president of Value Carpet One. Isn't it funny they don't list the other businesses run by that same company. They don't list S. Lee Smith, Jr. Inc which owns rental properties you wouldn't let your dogs live in. They also have a construction company named Atlas. Lord only knows how many other things they have their hands in. They sub all of their work out and pay low rates to the subs. By the way, some of the subs, you wouldn't let build a dog house.

If you tie the two businesses together you watch how many people have nothing good to say about their rental properties. I know he has a house or two on Hudson Dr. I'll try to find out where some of the others are located.

500 Federal Employees Sue Government

500 federal employees, mostly from the Bureau of Prisons, have joined a lawsuit against the government. The suit contends that withholding of pay under the recent government shutdown violated the Fair Labor Standards Act. GovExec reports, employees from other agencies are also starting to join the suit, coordinated by a D.C. law firm. Plaintiffs are trying to get damages of $7.25 for each hour they worked in the first week of October. Separately, the Washington Post reports the Merit Systems Protection Board is overwhelmed with 32,000 cases of federal employees claiming they were unfairly furloughed.
