'The Hunt' canceled by Universal following significant backlash

Universal Pictures has canceled the September 27 release of the controversial movie "The Hunt," in the wake of significant backlash over the film that depicts privileged vacationers hunting "deplorables" for sport.

NBC’s Universal Pictures, which shares parent company Comcast with NBC News and MSNBC, told Fox News on Wednesday that the movie’s marketing campaign would be “temporarily paused” on the heels of the tragic mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, Dayton, Ohio, and Gilroy, California.

At that time, it had no plans to shelf the movie itself.

NRA Warns Trump and McConnell Against Gun Control

On August 8, 2019, NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre issued a statement taking exception with the gun control push currently emanating from the White House and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

On Monday, President Donald Trump voiced his support for “strong background checks,” saying, “Republicans and Democrats must come together and get strong background checks, perhaps marrying this legislation with desperately needed immigration reform. We must have something good, if not GREAT, come out of these two tragic events!”

On Wednesday, Trump followed up by pushing background checks again. The Associated Press quoted him saying, “There’s a great appetite, and I mean a very strong appetite, for background checks. And I think we can bring up background checks like we’ve never had before.”

Has Attorney General Bill Barr Lost Trust in Corrupt FBI? AG Calls on FBI… AND INSPECTOR GENERAL… to Investigate Epstein’s Death

Attorney General William Barr released a statement Saturday on the investigations into the death of Jeffrey Epstein in an apparent suicide in while in federal custody at the Manhattan Correctional Center in New York City early Saturday morning. The FBI and the DOJ IG are investigating Epstein’s death, Barr said.

Kristinn Taylor reported on Barr’s statement.

“I was appalled to learn that Jeffrey Epstein was found dead early this morning from an apparent suicide while in federal custody. Mr. Epstein’s death raises serious questions that must be answered. In addition to the FBI’s investigation, I have consulted with the Inspector General who is opening an investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Epstein’s death.”

An earlier report described Barr as “livid” about Epstein’s death, “Attorney General William P. Barr, upon being informed of Epstein’s death while in federal custody, was ‘livid’ and determined to figure out exactly what happened, said a person familiar with his reaction.”

Former ‘Sex Slave’ Says She Met Al Gore Through Jeffrey Epstein’s Close Aide, Unsealed Docs Say

A woman who claims she was a sex slave for billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein says she met former vice president Al Gore, according to documents unsealed on Friday.

The documents were made public Friday after a U.S. Court of Appeals upheld a lower court decision to make public more than 2,000 pages of court filings in a since-settled 2015 defamation case brought by Virginia Roberts against Epstein confidant and aide Ghislaine Maxwell.

Roberts “has stated in court papers and multiple interviews that Maxwell recruited her while she was working at Mar-a-Lago,” the Daily Mail reports. “Other famous friends that Roberts said she had met included Heidi Klum and Naomi Campbell, in addition to Gore.”

How was Jeffrey Epstein able to kill himself? AOC leads furious critics demanding answers

Billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein allegedly committed suicide in his Manhattan jail cell on Saturday morning just 24 hours after a New York court unsealed 2,000 pages of new documents that implicated a number of high-profile men in his sex trafficking scandal.

The former financier, 66, was said to have been taken off suicide watch just days before his death at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, in downtown Manhattan, despite being hospitalized two weeks ago after allegedly making a separate unsuccessful attempt to take his own life.

The nature and timing of Epstein’s death has prompted widespread speculation of foul play, with many demanding a thorough investigation be carried out to determine why the sex trafficker was no longer on suicide watch and just how he was able to hang himself.

Leading the charge was Democratic Congressional freshman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who demanded, ‘We need Answers. And lots of them,’ in a tweet on Saturday morning.

NOT ONE Democrat Presidential Candidate Responds to Question Asking if They Condemn Antifa

Despite the well-documented violence of the radical left Antifa group -- the Department of Homeland Security classifies it as “domestic terrorist violence” – not one of the 23 Democrats running for president would condemn Antifa when repeatedly asked by over the course of 12 business days.

The Trump administration did respond, within a day, condemning Antifa.

In emails and telephone calls to the press offices and campaigns of the 23 Democrats running and to the Trump campaign, asked the candidates to answer two questions about Antifa based on background about the group reported by Politico. asked the candidates, 1) Do you condemn Antifa? And 2) Do you believe federal law enforcement agencies should take all lawful steps necessary to prevent Antifa from engaging in ‘domestic terrorist violence’ during the 2020 U.S. election campaign?

Jeffrey Epstein was not on suicide watch when he hanged himself

Convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was not on suicide watch in the Manhattan prison where he hanged himself Saturday morning, officials said.

Department of Justice spokesman Lee Plourde told The Post that Epstein, 66, was not “currently” on watch in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center while he awaited trial on child sex-trafficking charges.

Plourde refused to say whether that meant Epstein had been taken off additional monitoring or whether he had never been getting special attention to make sure he did not kill himself.

“I’m not going to discuss his previous medical status,” he said

CNN Sympathetically Profiled Illegal Immigrant Dodging Deportation — 8 Months Later He Killed A Man While Driving Without A License

An illegal immigrant who received positive press coverage during his fight against deportation earlier this year struck and killed a father of five in Colorado on Aug. 2 while driving without a license.

According to press reports, Miguel Ramirez Valiente was charged with careless driving with a revoked license after he over-corrected his truck while driving on a state highway near Colorado Springs, hitting Sean Buchanan.

Buchanan was riding a motorcycle when he was hit by Ramirez Valiente, who came to the U.S. from El Salvador 14 years ago.

Documents: Plant owners 'willfully' used ineligible workers

Unsealed court documents say managers at two Mississippi processing plants owned by the same Chinese man appeared to be actively participating in fraud.

JACKSON, Miss — Six of seven Mississippi chicken processing plants raided Wednesday were "willfully and unlawfully" employing people who lacked authorization to work in the United States, including workers wearing electronic monitoring bracelets at work for previous immigration violations, according to unsealed court documents.

Federal investigators behind the biggest immigration raid in a decade relied on confidential informants inside the plants in addition to data from the monitoring bracelets to help make their case, according to the documents.

The sworn statements supported the search warrants that led a judge to authorize Wednesday's raids, and aren't official charges, but give the first detailed look at the evidence involved in what Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have described as a yearlong investigation.

Good Guy With Gun Stops Potential Attack At Walmart After Man Shows Up With Rifle, Body Armor

An off-duty firefighter who had a firearm with him stopped a potential attack from taking place at a Walmart in Missouri after a 20-year-old man showed up to the store with a rifle, body armor, and over 100 rounds of ammunition.

"His intent was not to cause peace or comfort to anybody that was in the business," Lt. Mike Lucas with the Springfield Police Department said. "In fact, he’s lucky to be alive still to be honest."

Although it's not yet clear what the man's intent was, Lucas said, "We definitely have some crimes here."

Focusing on ways to bring real change

In the wake of the deadly mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, last weekend nearly all 2020 Democratic presidential contenders have called for the outright ban of socalled assault weapons.

It’s a common Democratic rephrase after a horrific tragedy, and at first glance seems to make sense. After all, why would somebody need to own a military-style gun used in war zones and associated with drug dealers and criminals by the media? Former President Barack Obama called for an assault weapon ban after Sandy Hook, saying such a measure would curb gun violence.

However, this is a misleading argument. Assault weapons, depending on how they’re defined, would most likely include a ban on the AR-15 which is a typical sporting rifle, which is module, meaning owners can add on to it, unlike other rifles. The AR-15 is “the most popular rifle in America; at a conservative estimate, there are between 8 and 15 million of them inprivate hands,” according to the National Review’s Charles Cooke.

Rock ’n’ roll will never die while Hollywood makes hits

Hip-hop tops today’s music charts, but classic rock rules the movie houses.

A rock ’n’ roll wave has crashed into theaters in the wake of last year’s blockbusting “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the Freddie Mercury/Queen biopic that earned north of $900 million globally and won Rami Malek the Oscar for best actor. The Elton John fantasy biopic “Rocketman” has snared a respectable $185 million worldwide this year.

“Yesterday” — the “what if nobody remembered the Beatles” reverie — has become a certified summer sleeper, earning $67 million at the U.S. box office, and the Bruce Springsteen-inspired “Blinded by the Light,” which opens next week, shows that Hollywood can’t get enough rock.

Police Arrest Two More Teens In Robbery, Assault Of BPD Lab Technician

The Baltimore Police Department has arrested and charged the two remaining suspects in the July robbery and brutal assault of a police lab technician.

The boy and girl were arrested in the 400 block of Wellesley Street in the 59-year-old man's car, police say.

Both the boy and girl were transported to the juvenile booking facility and charged with robbery and assault.

On July 24, the 59-year-old man was walking in the unit block of Albemarle Street around 6 a.m. when he was approached by three teens.

With Trump Donors Now Being Harassed, Should We Remind Joaquin Castro Of the Anti-Bullying Law He Once Praised?

Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) and his loser twin brother Julian, a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, are unapologetic over the former posting a list that pretty much targets Trump donors. Rep. Castro posted a list of those who have given the maximum to the Trump campaign because, apparently, he thinks that freedom of association and free speech are problematic…unless you support the Democrats. It’s not doxxing per se, but it does invite harassment. It narrows the search for the left-wing lynch mobs, which even MSNBC couldn’t defend. And yes, the campaign of personal destruction is already begun against some of the donors listed. Our friends at Twitchy wrote about it:
When Joaquin Castro outed a group of Trump donors on Twitter as a means to shame, intimidate, and yes target them, the Left and the media (same difference) made every excuse in the book for why it was ok.

‘It’s public information anyway!’

‘Why are they ashamed of donating?!’

‘They support white supremacy, they deserve to be outed!’

In other words, it was the donor’s fault that Castro doxxed them.

Listen to this (note, you will want earbuds/headphones on if you listen to this in public):

Gun sales surge fueled by first-timers, mostly for ‘concealed’ pistols

Gun sales are surging after the weekend mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, fueled by first-time buyers seeking pistols they can carry with them for protection.

The latest jump validated a big increase in purchases and background checks recorded by the FBI that show the four most recent months higher than the same months in 2018.

What’s more, the trend in the “National Instant Criminal Background Check System,” or NICS, is on a path to make 2018 the second biggest year since 2016, when gun owners and prospective gun owners filled stores before the presidential election that was expected to elect gun control advocate Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Sen. Patty Murray: 'Mental health issues don't cause mass shootings'

Sen. Patty Murray asserted on her Twitter account that the true cause of mass shootings are not people who have mental health issues but rather firearms.

Murray tweeted this week in the aftermath of the mass shootings that occurred in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, within 24 hours of each other.

"Mental health issues don't cause mass shootings, guns do," the Washington state Democrat said, calling for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to vote on House-passed gun control bills.

In the case of the shooter at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, in 2012, the New York Times reported his mental health problems were "completely untreated in the years before the shooting." His mother had resisted recommendations from doctors that he take medication for some of his problems.

Vigilantes, mob justice grow as violence mounts in Mexico

Vigilante attacks and mob justice appeared to be on the rise in Mexico this week as violence mounted, more than two dozen bodies appeared along roadsides and the government ruled out any new crackdown on criminal gangs.

Prosecutors in the northern state of Sinaloa said Thursday five young men have been murdered in recent days, and in all five cases toy cars were carefully placed atop their corpses. The men were apparently car thieves, and the toys indicated both the reason they were killed and served as a warning to other thieves.

The latest such murder came Wednesday. Prosecutors said the victim had been identified as the same man seen on security camera footage earlier that day stealing a pickup truck at gunpoint from a woman outside her home in the state capital, Culiacan.

That same day, a total of seven suspected kidnappers were killed by townspeople in the largest mass lynching in recent memory in the central state of Puebla. Some were beaten, some hanged.

Fla. GOP Holding Voter Registration at Gun Show

Just a week after two mass shootings left 31 people dead in Texas and Ohio, the Republican Party of Florida is planning two voter registration drives at a gun show, the Tampa Bay Times is reporting.

Emails were sent out Thursday asking for volunteers to help sign up voters at the Pembroke Pines, Florida, gun show Saturday and Sunday. Pembroke Pines is about 30-minutes south of Parkland, where 17 people were murdered in a school shooting last year.

"This is a great opportunity to engage the community and promote the values that make this country strong, prosperous, safe, and great!" the email said, according to the newspaper.

Republican Party chairman Joe Gruters said they did not consider canceling or postponing the voter registration effort, according to the newspaper.

Sanctuary State Likely to Free Illegal Alien Accused of Killing Father of Two

The sanctuary state of Illinois is likely to release an illegal alien accused of killing father of two Corey Cottrell on bail after being incarcerated for less than a month.

As Breitbart News has chronicled, Jose Rodriguez, a 27-year-old illegal alien from Honduras, is accused of running a red light on June 22 in the sanctuary state of Illinois, causing him to hit and kill 39-year-old Corey Cottrell, who was riding his motorcycle at the time and was on his way to see his mother, Kathy.

Rodriguez was ordered deported six years ago but never left the U.S. At the time of the crash, prosecutors say the illegal alien fled the scene and turned himself in the following day.

Prairie State Wire‘s W.J. Kennedy first broke the news that McLean County Judge Scott Drazewski lowered Rodriguez’s bail from $1,000,000 to $100,000 on Thursday despite prosecutors and the Cottrell family begging that the illegal alien remain locked up to ensure he not is deported before he is convicted of killing Corey.

Rodriguez has already met the $100,000 bail requirement and thus is likely to be released from local custody within the next 48 hours and should he be immediately arrested by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), he is expected to be deported — evading charges in Corey’s death.

Elderly couple found dead in apparent murder-suicide, left notes about high medical bills

The 77-year-old man first called police and told them of his plans to commit suicide, saying 'we will be in the front bedroom' before hanging up.

A sheriff's department in Washington state shared a story about an elderly man who killed his ailing wife and then himself, apparently because they did not have enough money to pay for medical care. The devastating story was shared on the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office Facebook page and has gone viral.

A 77-year-old man called 911 and told the dispatcher, "I'm going to kill myself," according to the sheriff's department. He indicated he had prepared a note with instructions and the dispatcher tried to keep him on the line, with no success. The man disconnected the call, and when deputies arrived at the house, they sent a robot mounted camera inside.

Both the man and his wife were found dead by gunshot wounds. Detectives are investigating it as a likely murder-suicide.

Ex-NFL Player Says He Asked Trump to Blast Cummings, Baltimore Decay

A former pro football player says he asked President Trump to highlight the decay of Baltimore and Rep. Elijah Cummings’ (D-Md.) role in allowing the city to fall apart.

Ex-NFLer and businessman Jack Brewer recently met face-to-face with Trump following a visit to Baltimore which left him shocked and dismayed.

“I had a chance to meet with President Trump, and I told him, ‘Please call out Elijah Cummings and Baltimore.’ I asked him to do that three weeks ago and he did it,” Brewer said during an appearance on Fox Nation’s Deep Dive.

“I’m seeing these kids that don’t have any core, no culture within them. They don’t have anyone teaching them and training them.”

Brewer blasted Cummings for being at the “front and center” of a corrupt political machine which focuses solely on “issues that help them raise money.”

Baltimore Police Sergeant On Life Support After Being Shot Thursday Afternoon

Baltimore Police Sergeant Isaac Carrington is currently fighting for his life after being shot multiple times on Thursday afternoon outside his home in an attempted robbery. Sgt. Carrington is currently in critical condition but was taken into surgery Friday afternoon.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison told media that "an initial investigation revealed that the 43-year-old Carrington was standing in front of his lawn, speaking with a neighbor, when an unknown vehicle believed to be an Acura, pulled onto the street."

Then, a masked gunman hopped out of the vehicle and demanded property. The neighbor threw down his personal belongings and ran. Witnesses say that Carrington, who was not in uniform, attempted to subdue the assailants but he was overpowered.

Baltimore housing authority spent nearly $200,000 to replace new toilets amid Poe Homes water outage

At Baltimore’s Poe Homes public housing complex, city officials had just installed toilets designed to use less water when a water main break disrupted service to the nearly 300 residents in June. Once it was restored, water pressure was so low, the new toilets wouldn’t flush.

The city’s solution: Spend $188,732.77 for plumbers to work overtime replacing the efficient commodes with old-fashioned models purchased by the dozen from Home Depot.

The Housing Authority of Baltimore City hired two contractors to perform the emergency work amid a water outage that sparked outrage from city leaders, according to invoices obtained by The Baltimore Sun through a public records request. City Council President Brandon Scott called it “unacceptable for residents to be without water for this long.”
