What A Government Shut Down Should Look Like...

Obama's dangerous delusions about Islamic extremism

“We cannot kill our way out of this war,” State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews Monday night. “We need in the medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s a lack of opportunity for jobs --”

Here, Matthews, cut her off.

“We’re not going to be able to stop that in our lifetime or fifty lifetimes,” he blurted out. “There’s always going to be poor people. There’s always going to be poor Muslims, and as long as there are poor Muslims, the trumpet’s blowing and they’ll join. We can’t stop that, can we?”

Matthews, who is neither a hawk nor a knee-jerk critic of President Obama, had put his finger on the problem. To call economic deprivation a root cause of religious fanaticism is simply nonsensical.

As easy as it would be to blame Harf, it became obvious two days later, on Wednesday, that her blathering is administration policy. She was only expressing views of her boss.

Obama: Islam not responsible for terrorism

President Obama on Wednesday said that Islam was not to blame for the spread of terrorism, dismissing calls for him to link such violence to so-called Muslim extremism.

“We are not at war with Islam. We are at war with people who have perverted Islam,” Obama said at the White House’s summit on countering “violent extremism.”

“No religion is responsible for terrorism,” the president said. “People are responsible for violence and terrorism."

Obama has been roundly criticized for not using the phrase “Islamic extremism,” as detractors accuse him of downplaying the religious motivations behind a spate of recent terrorist attacks.

The president directly addressed the simmering controversy over what he sees as the root cause for the rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. But he said such criticism failed to reflect the complexities of the factors responsible for the growth of so-called violent extremism — and he insisted that terrorist leaders were eager to convince young people that the West was “at war” with Islam.

YouTube has a new App just for Kids

Google is releasing a sanitized YouTube app just for kids.

Called YouTube Kids, the Android app only plays age-appropriate videos and has a simplified design that even young children who can't read will be able to navigate. The app, which will carry ads, will be available in the U.S. from Feb. 23.

YouTube says it has seen nearly 200% growth in family entertainment over the past year.

As its popularity with children has increased, so have concerns from parents. The site bans explicit sexual content, but there are dark corners of YouTube where kids can accidentally end up. There is a "Safety mode" on the regular site and apps, but it's still easy for kids to stumble onto inappropriate videos, or worse, read the comments.

"Parents have been asking us to make YouTube friendlier for kids and for families," said Shimrit Ben-Yair, the group product manager for YouTube Kids.

IS WASHINGTON FABRICATING THE ECONOMIC DATA?

48 million Americans cannot provide for their most basic human needs

Clint Siegner: Bureaucrats in the U.S.S.R. kept issuing glowing economic reports right up until the Soviet state collapsed.

Of course, many snickered at those reports for years. Widespread poverty and unemployment were obvious and no amount of government bluster obscured that reality. People generally understood that economic reports were little more than another propaganda tool.

Here in the U.S., official data is considered more reliable. Americans have been told the economy is getting better since bottoming in 2009. There is some evidence to support this. In particular, real estate prices have made a big recovery due to cheap credit, and the stock markets are back to making new highs. So when officials tell us things are getting better, we have reason to believe them.

But, investors should be careful before suspending all disbelief. The well-paid bureaucrats in Washington have the same powerful incentives to support their government’s narrative as their peers did in Moscow.

While we don’t have bread lines, we do have record numbers of people on food stamps. But these 48 million Americans who cannot provide for their most basic human needs are hidden from public view because they get debit cards and coupons to blend in at the grocery store.

Franchot happy with “new sheriff in town”

You’ll have to pardon Comptroller Peter V.R. Franchot for feeling a little personal vindication.

After eight years on the Board of Public Works seemingly tilting at procurement windmills, the state’s top elected Democrat said he’s taking some personal satisfaction from a new Republican governor who seems to be of a like mind when it comes to watching how state dollars are spent.

“My view is it’s a whole new day on the Board of Public Works and the ultimate beneficiaries will be the taxpayers of Maryland,” Franchot said following just his second board meeting with Gov. Larry Hogan.

Hogan, Franchot and Treasurer Nancy K. Kopp Wednesday voted to defer six spending requests totaling nearly $50 million over questions about poorly explained cost increases or bidding processes.

TED CRUZ: OBAMA HAS BECOME ‘AN APOLOGIST FOR RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORISTS’

Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz accused President Obama of being “an apologist for radical Islamic terrorists” on “The Kelly File”
Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz accused President Obama of being “an apologist for radical Islamic terrorists” on “The Kelly File” Wednesday for his refusal to name radical Islam and stand up for its Christian and Jewish victims. (VIDEO: Ted Cruz: Obama’s ISIS Strategy Driven By ‘Photo-Ops And Press Releases’)

CRUZ: This is a president and administration that has turned a hard heart to the persecution and suffering of Christians abroad, to the persecution and suffering of Jews abroad. You look at the Christians– where is the president speaking up loudly and consistently for Pastor Sayid Abedini, an American in prison in Iran for expressing his faith? When Meriam Ibrahim was in Sudan, sentenced to 100 lashes and hanged by the neck until dead for her Christian faith, the president would not speak up.

Just a couple weeks ago the president made reference to the horrific terrorist attack in Paris where radical Islamists went into a kosher deli, and the president said it was a “random” act of violence. There’s nothing random about it! These were radical Islamists going to a kosher deli to target people because they were Jews and to murder them because of their Jewish faith.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan plans to unveil his own chicken manure rules

As one of his first acts in office, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) halted implementation of new regulations that would limit the amount of chicken manure that farmers can spread on their fields as fertilizer — angering environmentalists and prompting lawmakers to propose legislation that would force the new rules into place.

One such bill will be the focus of a state Senate committee hearing that is scheduled for next week.

On Thursday, however, an aide to Hogan said the governor plans to unveil a revised version of the regulations on Monday — a day before the Senate hearing.

Ex-Virginia first lady Maureen McDonnell sentenced to 1 year

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Former Virginia first lady Maureen McDonnell was sentenced Friday to one year and 1 day in prison for her role in a bribery scheme that destroyed her husband's political career.

U.S. District Judge James Spencer sentenced McDonnell on eight public corruption counts. The couple had been found guilty of doing favors for a nutritional supplements executive in exchange for $165,000 in gifts and loans. Prosecutors had asked for an 18-month sentence for the former first lady. Defense attorneys requested probation and 4,000 hours of community service.

Fighting back tears, McDonnell apologized to her family and Virginians and said she takes full responsibility.

"I would ask in your sentence today that you consider the punishment I've already received," she said. "My marriage is broken, my family is hurting and my reputation is in shatters."

Michelle Obama’s secret annual Aspen ski trip exposed after her motorcade was permitted to sneak around a car accident

Can’t have royalty wait for an accident to be cleared like the riff raff have to, can we? This whole freaking family is out of touch in the extreme with everyone but their sorry selves. Notice how the Obamas don’t vacation together much? Obama was off playing three days of golf, over Valentine’s Day no less. He golfed while 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians lost their heads on the sands of Tripoli. Mooch and offspring skied while 2 where shot and killed in Copenhagen by those radical Muslims they just can’t bring themselves to name. But I’ll bet the slopes were killer.

From the Daily Mail:

While President Obama flew to California for a few rounds of golf this weekend, his wife and daughters headed to Aspen for a secret trip – but it didn’t stay secret for long.

The trio arrived in Colorado on Friday and would’ve stayed under the radar had it not been for a car crash and some eagle-eyed Instagrammers.

What Would Jeb Do On Iraq? He Won't Say

The son and brother of the last two Republican presidents vowed to be his "own man" in a foreign policy speech Wednesday. But he failed to outline a plan to deal with a major focus of those previous two Bush foreign policies: Iraq.

Likely presidential candidate Jeb Bush spoke and took questions for more than an hour at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. He addressed trade deals with Asia and Latin America, support for Ukraine, pushing democracy in Cuba, stopping nuclear proliferation, fighting the so-called Islamic State — even the revolution in Tunisia.

But on Iraq, the closest he came to a plan was conceding that George W. Bush's administration erred in its conduct of the war and accusing President Obama of encouraging the rise of ISIS by withdrawing U.S. troops from the country too soon.

"There were mistakes made in Iraq, for sure. Using the intelligence capability that everybody embraced about weapons of mass destruction turns out to not be accurate. Not creating an environment of security after the successful taking out of Hussein was a mistake," Bush said, then he praised his brother's "surge" of troops to stabilize Iraq in 2007 as an act of political courage.

Hypocrisy Alert! ‘Anti-Gun’ Attorney and Activist David Malik Arrested at Cleveland Hopkins Airport in Possession of Gun and Ammo

What a shocker… another Liberal anti-gun activist gets caught with a gun and ammo. Bad Progressive! My belief is the Marxist Progressives want the guns taken away from Americans so they are more ‘easily controlled.’ These elitists believe laws don’t apply to them – they are for the riff raff, the masses. They also know that guns are the very best protection out there and that the world utopia they are crafting is making the world and America more and more dangerous each day that passes. Guns also allow for independence and they just can’t have that. Thus, they become closet gun packers and owners. Time to come out of the closet boys and girls – if guns are for thee, then they are for me.

The two question referendum will be put to a vote at a special election 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 in the district office board room.

The commissioners asked Ring about the possibility of adding an additional crossing guard somewhere along State Street to try and better contend with the number of students who cross at various places along the road.

Despite Obama Wasting $39 Billion on Solar Energy, Only .5% of Our Power Comes From Solar

Despite the fact that Obama has thrown over $39 billion in our tax money at the solar energy industry, America still only gets a tiny .5 percent of its energy from solar. Yet Obama wants to keep throwing billions more of our tax dollars at this non-existent energy source.

As Obama and his minions spend the week idiotically claiming that giving jobs to ISIS terrorists will solve the Islamic terror that has been going on since well before the 1400s, we find some of the massive waste he has perpetrated right here in the USA.

Despite receiving an estimated $39 billion in annual government subsidies over the past five years, the solar energy industry accounted for just one half of one percent (0.5%) of all the electricity generated in the U.S. during the first 10 months of 2014, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Between January and October of last year, the U.S. produced a total of 3,431,473 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity. But only 15,973 million kWh were generated by solar thermal or photovoltaic (PV) solar modules that use semiconducting materials to convert sunlight into electricity, according to EIA’s latest Monthly Energy Review.

The amount of solar power generated last year was up from the 9,252 million kWh produced in 2013, but still remained a tiny fraction of the nation’s total power generated in 2014 despite billions of dollars in subsidies spent on hundreds of solar programs at the federal, state and local level.

Frigid Weather Leads To Spike In Frozen Pipe Incidents; Several Area Restaurants Hit With Damage

OCEAN CITY — Persistent frigid weather over the last week or so has resulted in hundreds of incidents of frozen water pipes bursting and flooding residences and businesses, including a couple that will be forced to close for a couple of weeks.

Late last week and through last weekend, temperatures around the resort area rarely if ever got above the freezing mark and many of the days saw high temperatures in the teens. Through mid-week, temperatures rose slightly, but a winter storm dropped about six inches of snow on the area Tuesday, complicating the issue. Late this week, another blast of arctic air has arrived in the area, resulting in the same extreme drops in temperature.

As a result, the area has seen hundreds of cases of frozen pipes bursting and flooding residences and businesses with no relief in sight. Ocean City Communications Director Jessica Waters said on Wednesday there had been over 200 reported cases of frozen pipes bursting in the resort alone, including 37 from Monday to Wednesday.

The Muslim Brotherhood is an international political, financial, terrorist and movement whose goal is to establish a global Islamic State (Caliphate).

They have and continue to exert tremendous influence of the American government’s foreign and domestic policies under President Barack Hussein Obama.
The violence in the Middle East and across North Africa is a direct consequence of the Muslim Brotherhood’s effective control over American foreign policy in the region.

They operate through various “civic” front groups, as well as through American institutions who take their money as operational funding (Georgetown University, Brookings Institution).

DEEP CREEK DUNK ORGANIZERS URGE CAUTION DUE TO IMPENDING STORM

(McHENRY, MD) – A forecast of heavy snow followed by an icy mix in Western Maryland counties tomorrow is causing organizers of the Deep Creek Dunk to urge caution and even reconsideration for all those intending to travel to Garrett County for the event.

As of this morning, weather forecasts are calling for up to a foot of snow in Garrett County tomorrow. Snowfall is predicted to begin in the morning and continue through the day, followed by an icy mix as temperatures finally begin to warm into the 30’s in the evening. Snow is also predicted for all Western Maryland counties along the route most take to reach the Maryland State Police/Natural Resources Police Deep Creek Dunk site in McHenry, Md.

The law enforcement and Special Olympics Maryland personnel organizing the Deep Creek Dunk are issuing this alert to all those considering traveling to the event tomorrow. Despite the valiant efforts of state and county highway crews, road conditions are expected to be, at best, challenging throughout the day. Those planning to drive to the Dunk from outside Garrett County tomorrow are urged to rethink and possibly cancel their plans to attend.

“Our paramount concern is for the safety of everyone planning to attend the Deep Creek Dunk,” Special Olympics President and CEO Jim Schmutz said. “We do not want anyone to risk their safety by traveling to the Dunk in hazardous conditions. We deeply appreciate the support thousands have already shown through their donations and their willingness to participate in the Dunk. However, we would rather you reconsider your plans to attend than place yourself in potential jeopardy due to another winter storm.”

Get Out Of ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ And See A Real Love Story

It would be foolish — not to mention downright stupid — to stand between tens of millions of lusty American women and their favorite Hollywood S&M fantasy:

“Fifty Shades of Grey.”

And I don’t want get trampled, or worse.

But for those who aren’t into the bondage-as-romance thing, I’ve decided to help with The John Kass Approved List of Non-S&M Romantic Movies. No whips, riding crops, restraints or handcuffs required.

Since it is a list of love stories, not tales of domination and submission, all you need are handkerchiefs for sharing happy cries together. Maybe some gelato, too.

Whether I like it or not, women are buying “Fifty Shades” tickets like mad. The erotic thriller raked in more than $80 million at the box office in its first weekend, with women heading to the theaters in wild girlfriend packs.

“Oh, ‘Fifty Shades,’ really? I’m going to waste my time with that?” said our friend Martha on the way to dinner the other night. “Isn’t it like ‘Twilight’ for old people?”

Another friend, Alejandra, said she had no intention of seeing the movie. She said she threw out the book as it depressed her.

“I threw it in the garbage, and it was sad. It was like reading an instruction manual.”

And young women in the elevator said men should just back off.

“Men should stay home,” said a young woman. “We don’t want you with us. It’s a girl’s night out thing. We want to be out alone!”

Money is the top source of stress in our lives, beating out work, family responsibilities, and health concerns. That’s according to the new Stress In America survey, conducted by Harris Poll for the American Psychological Association.

This news isn’t super shocking—money has been the top stressor since the APA started conducting its annual survey in 2007. But this year’s results show that our money worries could also be harming our health. One in five say they’ve skipped or considered skipping a visit to the doctor when they needed health care in the past year because of financial factors. And almost a third (32%) say that lack of money prevents them from living a healthy lifestyle.

Why Republicans Might Want to Rethink Their Victory Lap on Immigration

Republicans, especially some of the potential 2016 presidential candidates, were quick to claim a victory this week after a judge in Texas ordered a temporary halt to some of President Obama’s controversial immigration actions.

"The Texas court decision reached last night is a major turning point in the fight to stop Obama's lawless amnesty," Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said Tuesday. "This is a major victory for the rule of law; the District Court's ruling states that President Obama must now stop implementing these policies in 'any and all aspects.'”

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal added: "Louisiana joined this lawsuit [that 26 states filed against Obama] because what the president is doing to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens is unconstitutional, and we’re glad the court agreed.

“On his own volition, President Obama ignored the law and the will of the American people.”

State workers offered $15K in voluntary separation program

Gov. Larry Hogan this week offered state employees $15,000 to leave their jobs, part of a cost-saving plan he announced earlier this year to shrink the government workforce.

State employees received a letter Tuesday detailing the offer of a lump sum plus $200 for every year of service if they choose to leave their jobs at the end of April. They have three weeks to decide whether to take deal.

The day after he took office, Hogan announced his intention to save $30 million in next year's budget through a voluntary separation program, but did not provide details until Thursday. Hogan's plan continues a proposal of the O'Malley administration, which sought saving another $37.5 million in this year's budget through buy-outs and eliminating vacant positions

Ireton Supports Fredericksen on School Decision

Salisbury – Mayor James Ireton, Jr. today voiced his support of Wicomico Superintendent of Schools John Fredericksen’s decision to keep schools closed again on Friday.

In a statement released this past Monday, February 16th, Mayor Ireton anticipated the difficulty of cleaning the City’s 350 lane miles of streets after the storm, stating, “After the snow ceases to fall, cold temperatures will be the main concern for the continued plowing and improvement in road conditions.  With nighttime temperatures below 10 degrees, it may take the remainder of the week for road conditions to return to normal.”

Again today, the Mayor addressed the condition of City roads, and voiced his support for Dr. Fredericksen.  “As the week has progressed, temperatures have remained very low, with wind chills hitting negative digits,” said the Mayor.  “My biggest concern is the safety of students.  Dr. Fredericksen has made the decision to keep children out of the cold, and to give County and City roads another day to improve.  I applaud his decision, and I support it 100 percent.”

In Brief:
  • Mayor Ireton supports Dr. Fredericksen’s decision to keep schools closed on Friday because it is the correct choice to keep kids safe.
  • Snow emergency routes receive the most attention because that’s how emergency vehicles get to you.

Are You Ready For Total Currency War?

On February 18, 1943, German Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels delivered a rousing speech at the Berlin Sportpalast, asking the German people, "Sind Sie bereit für totalen Krieg?" or "Are you ready for total War?" Germany had planned for Blitzkrieg and a short war and was unprepared for a world war as the combined military forces of the United States, England and the Soviet Union crushed the Reich relentlessly and systematically. Although the people and economy rallied in defense of Germany, total war only prolonged the horrors of war and delayed their inevitable defeat.

Today, 72 years later, another quasi-fascist empire formerly at the pinnacle of world economic power is being taken over, this time on the economic front, by China and the BRICs. Yet it retains the ability to project military power on every continent, with troops deployed in over 150 countries, and is involved simultaneously in regions ranging from Europe and the Ukraine, across the Middle East and Africa to the nations in Asia surrounding China.

The leadership of most foreign vassal states are threatened, bought off or blackmailed into doing the empire's bidding lest they be overthrown and replaced through covert black-ops that often masquerade as homegrown domestic uprisings like the Arab Spring or the Ukraine coup in 2014.

Icy Roads

Just to let your readers know, between Rd 504 (Jersey Rd) and Horsey Church Rd on 54 there is a long stretch of ice on the road.

After pulling my son out of the ditch he informed me that there were 3 other cars that were in the ditch before I arrived.

Who exactly, is Loretta Lynch?

Curious circumstances, if that? Hmmmm!

They have started investigating Loretta Lynch, Obama's pick for Attorney-General and immediately they could see an interesting and unnerving connection. It appears that when Loretta Lynch started at Harvard, she co-founded an African-American only Sorority and there was only one other girl in this sorority, Sharon Malone.

The name rings a bell...

The name of the wife of the current, corrupt AG, Eric Holder, is Sharon Malone; and she is the sister of a known civil rights activist leader Vivien Malone -Jones (one of 2 black students who enrolled in the all white University of Alabama).

They checked the age: both were born in 1959 and both went to Harvard at the same time. There were very few African-American students in Harvard in 1977-1981, so it is rather certain that Loretta Lynch is an old college Friend of Sharon Malone, the wife of the current AG, Eric Holder!!

Why is this connection important? Holder will inevitably be investigated by Congress for totally lawless gun-trafficking to Mexican drug cartels in Fast And Furious, the IRS scandal, the VA scandal, the DOJ, NSA, EPA, FEC and other scandals. Most importantly, AG Holder covered up Obama's use of a Stolen CT Social Security number (Harrison J. Bounel 042-68-4425) and Obama's use of several different bogus IDs.

It seems that a long time college friend of Holder's wife was picked up as a gate-keeper by Obama to continue all of the cover up actions by Holder and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, to shield Holder and Obama from criminal prosecution.

Remember -- Loretta Lynch, Obama's pick for Attorney-General.

Isn't it amazing how all the pieces to the Obama Puzzle are out there and as we are now seeing after this length of time they are finally coming together ............. equally as amazing is how gutless our Republican lawmakers are in pointing out these issues in their hearings and in advising their constituents. We have become a third world country led by criminals.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I submit to you that this is not the America today that it was seventy years ago. And I, for one, am saddened.

My generation grew up watching, being entertained by and laughing with so many of these fine people, never really knowing what they contributed to the war effort. Like millions of Americans during the WWII, there was a job that needed doing they didn't question, they went and did it, those that came home returned to their now new normal life and carried on, very few ever saying what they did or saw. They took it as their "responsibility", their "duty" to Country, to protect and preserve our freedoms and way of life, not just for themselves but for all future generations to come. As a member of that "First" generation, I'm forever humbly in their debt.

And then there is Obummer !!!!!!!
