The Police State

There really isn’t much difference between the Cheney-Kristol neocons of the Left and the Obama-Pelosi-Clinton leftists, when you get right down to it.

And I refer to leftists or to the Left rather than using the common term “liberals,” because they are not liberal. For me, “liberal” describes someone who advocates liberating people, someone who believes in freedom.

The Left consists of people who believe otherwise, even the opposite of genuine liberalism and liberation. They want laws and regulations which tie people down and chain them up and restrain their freedom.

With their degenerate social agenda, economic edicts, mandates and diktats, the Left have made the people prisoners of society’s meddlers, control freaks, social misfits, nanny-government bureaucrats and their armed enforcers.

John McAfee Predicts Hackers Will Empty Obamacare Enrollees' Bank Accounts

Obamacare websites have "no safeguards" to protect Americans who enroll in the health insurance exchanges from hackers who will "empty your bank account," according to internet security pioneer John McAfee.

McAfee said he could create a fake Obamacare exchange website for "a couple hundred dollars" and expect a big return on the scam.

"I'll ask you your social security, your date of birth, [so] an hour later I can empty your bank account," he told Fox News' Gretchen Carlson.

Ben Carson: Obamacare Worst Thing To Happen To The U.S. Since Slavery

Dr. Ben Carson didn’t mince words: Obamacare is “the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery.”

Dr. Carson made the declaration about President Obama’s sweeping health care mandate Friday during a speech at the Values Voter Summit

“It is slavery because it aims to make all of us subservient to the government,” he said. “It was never about health care. It was about control.”

Western Md. Health Exchange Finds Paper Trail Around Obamacare Glitches

One of Maryland’s six health care groups contracted to enroll Marylanders in Obamacare health insurance plans has found a way around computer glitches the state has been experiencing since the health insurance exchange opened Oct. 1 — they’re going back to paper.

Healthy Howard, which services residents of six Western Maryland counties, has only been able to complete enrollment on the computer system for five people since the exchange opened. After being open one week, the state had enrolled only 326 people through its site.

Despite concerns that enrollment hasn’t been possible, on Thursday Maryland Health Benefit Exchange Executive Director Becca Pearce stated in an email that consumers can create an account, which is the application process, shop and compare plans and make a selection online. Once a plan has been selected, applicants will be sent a first-payment notification within a few weeks.

Poll: Americans Find Little To Like In Washington

WASHINGTON (AP) - Americans are finding little they like about President Barack Obama or either political party, according to a new poll that suggests the possibility of a "throw the bums out" mentality in next year's midterm elections.

The AP-GfK poll finds few people approve of the way the president is handling most major issues and most people say he's not decisive, strong, honest, reasonable or inspiring.

In the midst of the government shutdown and Washington gridlock, the president is faring much better than his party, with large majorities of those surveyed finding little positive to say about Democrats. The negatives are even higher for the Republicans across the board, with 4 out of 5 people describing the GOP as unlikeable and dishonest and not compassionate, refreshing, inspiring or innovative.

Negativity historically hurts the party in power - particularly when it occurs in the second term of a presidency - but this round seems to be hitting everyone. More people now say they see bigger differences between the two parties than before Obama was elected, yet few like what either side is offering. A big unknown: possible fallout from the unresolved budget battle in Washington.

O'Malley: Health Care Website Fix Could Take Another Month

Fixing glitches on Maryland's online marketplace could continue for as long as another month and a half, Governor Martin O'Malley said Friday, comparing the effort to dealing with a hurricane or a snowstorm.

Still, he said improvements are being made every day. Maryland Health Connection, the online portal where people can shop for health plans and enroll in them, also updated the numbers of people who have visited the website and created accounts since it opened on Oct. 1, when it ran into problems almost immediately.

"There's a lot of different families and a lot of different entities and individuals going through this, but my sense is probably for the next month or so - month and a half - we will be working out the glitches on the portal," O'Malley said.

Is Red State America Seceding?

Pat Buchanan covers many movements across U.S. to divorce from urban rulers

In the last decade of the 20th century, as the Soviet Empire disintegrated, so, too, did that prison house of nations, the USSR.

Out of the decomposing carcass came Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Moldova, all in Europe; Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan in the Caucasus; and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in Central Asia.

Transnistria then broke free of Moldova, and Abkhazia and South Ossetia fought free of Georgia.

Yugoslavia dissolved far more violently into the nations of Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Kosovo.

The Slovaks seceded from Czechoslovakia. Yet a Europe that plunged straight to war after the last breakup of Czechoslovakia in 1938 and 1939 this time only yawned. Let them go, all agreed.

The spirit of secession, the desire of peoples to sever ties to nations to which they have belonged for generations, sometimes for centuries, and to seek out their own kind, is a spreading phenomenon.

O'Malley Touts Record Oyster Planting

Gov. Martin O'Malley is touting a record year for producing and planting native bay oysters in Maryland.

O'Malley talked about the latest efforts to revive Maryland's badly depleted oyster population at a news conference in Annapolis. Since 1994, the Chesapeake Bay's oyster population has been at about 1 percent of historic levels.

The University of Maryland Horn Point Lab Oyster Hatchery team in Cambridge produced 1.25 billion Eastern oyster spat this year. The state says that as a result, 750 million baby oysters have been planted at the Harris Creek Sanctuary, which is 377 acres.

OBAMA CARE AT AGE 77

Your hospital Medicare admittance has just changed under Obama Care. You must be admitted by your primary Physician in order for Medicare to pay for it! If you are admitted by an emergency room doctor it is treated as outpatient care where hospital costs are not covered. This is only the tip of the iceberg for Obama Care. Just wait to see what happen in this year and 2014!

Age 76 Today, I went to the Dr. for my monthly B12 shot that I have been getting for a number of years. The nurse came and got me, got out the needle filled and ready to go then looked at the computer and got very quiet and asked if I was prepared to pay for it. I said no that my insurance takes care of it. She said, that Medicare had turned it down and went to talk to my Dr. about it. 15 minutes later she came back and said, she was sorry but they had tried every-thing they could but Medicare is beginning to turn many things away for seniors because of the projected Obama Care coming in. She was brushing at tears and said, "Some day they too will get old", I am so very sorry!! Please for the sake of many good people. . . ..be informed please .

YOU ARE NOT GOING TO LIKE THIS... At age 76 when you most need it most, you are not eligible for cancer treatment * see page 272 What Nancy Pelosi didn't want us to know until after the healthcare bill was passed. Remember she said, "We have to pass the Bill so that we can see what's in it." Well, here it is.

Obama Care Highlighted by Page Number THE CARE BILL HB 3200 JUDGE KITHIL IS THE 2ND OFFICIAL WHO HAS OUTLINED THESE PARTS OF THE CARE BILL.

Judge Kithil of Marble Falls , TX - highlighted the most egregious pages of HB3200 Please read this....... especially the reference to pages 58 & 59

JUDGE KITHIL wrote:

** Page 50/section 152: The bill will provide insurance to all non-U.S. residents, even if they are here illegally.

** Page 58 and 59: The government will have real-time access to an individual's bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts.

** Page 65/section 164: The plan will be subsidized (by the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - ACORN).

** Page 203/line 14-15: The tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax. (How could anybody in their right mind come up with that?)

** Page 241 and 253: Doctors will all be paid the same regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors' fees. This is what they do in Sweden too. I know because Alf's daughter Ann is an OBGYN, and her husband, Thorsten, is a surgeon.........

** Page 272. section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration care according to the patient's age.

** Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception.

** Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an "end-of-life planning" seminar every five years. (Death counseling..)

** Page 429, line 13-25: The government will specify which doctors can write an end-of-life order.

HAD ENOUGH???? Judge Kithil then goes on to identify:

"Finally, it is specifically stated that this bill will not apply to members of Congress.

No wonder they did not see the need to read it....doesn't apply to them!!!

THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NEED TO STAND UP TO WASHINGTON .....NOW! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!

Honorable David Kithil of Marble Falls , Texas

All of the above should give you the ammo you need to oppose Obamacare.

MCAULIFFE INVESTED $47K IN VENTURE OF DONOR WHO PLED GUILTY TO STEALING IDENTITIES OF TERMINALLY ILL

Virginia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Terry McAuliffe acknowledged Wednesday that he invested $47,000 in a business operated by Joseph Caramadre, who recently pled guilty to charges of "fraud, conspiracy, and identity theft" in a federal courtroom in Providence, Rhode Island.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Providence Journal reported that, according to federal prosecutors, Caramadre and his associates "stole identities of terminally ill people. They then used that information to purchase investments his clients profited from after the people died."

DON'T BUY THE MEDIA SPIN: THE SHUTDOWN IS KILLING OBAMACARE

I love a defunding fight as much as anyone, but I really want to see ObamaCare get a stake through its heart via widespread civil disobedience. If people refuse to sign up for ObamaCare, the program collapses. Nothing would be more satisfying than to see ObamaCare go the way of Prohibition (without the violence): as something else that pushed the wonderfully unruly American people too far.

Contrary to what the media are telling you, the shutdown is not helping ObamaCare. Again and again, conservatives have been taunted by the media with the cry of, "If you hadn't shut down the government, we'd be covering the ObamaCare launch debacle."

Kitchen Fire Causes Blaze on Ocean Block

On Thursday, October 10, 2013, at approximately 5 p.m., Ocean City Communications received a call for a house fire in the area of 128th Street.  Ocean City Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, which was located on the ocean block, and found fire coming from the home upon their arrival.
According to witnesses, the fire began in the kitchen and rapidly spread through the interior of the home.  Crews from the Ocean City Fire Department worked immediately to control the fire, which was extinguished a short time later.
The occupants of the home were able to safely exit upon arrival of fire department, however a cat remained inside.  Fire Department personnel located the animal and safely returned the pet to its owners.  No injuries were reported by the occupants or the animal, who was transported to the Ocean City Animal Hospital.
“It is National Fire Prevention Week and we have been spreading the word to our residents and visitors that more fires start in the kitchen than any other part of the home,” said Ocean City Fire Department Chief Chris Larmore.  “Thankfully, no one was injured in this incident; however it is a testament to how dangerous kitchen fires can be.  We hope that by sharing this year’s fire safety campaign with our community we will be teaching residents how to prevent kitchen fires from starting in the first place.”
The cause of the fire, which was investigated by the Ocean City Fire Marshal’s Office, is classified as accidental. To learn more about fire prevention week and how to prevent kitchen fires, visit http://www.firepreventionweek.org/.

OBAMACARE STATE OF THE UNION: COSTS SKYROCKETING, CUSTOMERS DROPPED

The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, is rocking the health insurance plans and premiums of Americans nationwide. "They are incredibly more expensive—double, sometimes triple, what customers are paying now, and the benefits don't seem to measure up," reported the Alabama news affiliate. More

Shutdown Doesn’t Stop Grant for ‘Reproductive Health’ in Pakistan

USAID seeking applications for program that will cost $24.5 million

BY: Elizabeth Harrington, Washington Free Beacon

Though the government shutdown has reached its tenth day, the federal government has deemed the collection of grant proposals for the improvement of reproductive health of women in Pakistan “essential.”

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) created a grant on Thursday seeking applicants to administer “family planning” in the south Asian country through its Maternal and Child Health (MCH) program.

“The MCH Program’s overall goal is to dramatically and sustainably improve health outcomes of women and children in target areas, and the MCH Program comprises five components: 1) Family Planning/Reproductive Health; 2) Maternal, Newborn and Child Health; 3) Health Communication; 4) Health Commodities; and 5) Health Systems Strengthening,” the grant said.

The funding will provide “health communication” targeted at married women of reproductive age. The USAID is accepting applications through November and the project will ultimately cost $24.5 million.

“We’re kind of at your mercy here,” Justice said.

“I would like to think that municipal government could act a little more responsibly than federal government,” said Mayor Rick Meehan. “Municipal government has the opportunity because we are smaller and we’re sitting down here with everyone at one time.”

PELOSI: WE HAVE TO IMPLEMENT OBAMACARE BEFORE WE MAKE ANY CHANGES TO IT

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that Democrats will not consider making any changes to Obamacare.

She said lawmakers may consider amending the bill — but only after it’s been implemented.

“None of these suggestions [are] acceptable,” Pelosi said in reference to Republican efforts to delay the law’s individual mandate for one year.

“After we open government and a plan is in place — any law that a Congress makes, a Congress can make another law and so bring your ideas forward. But not, with government shut down and before the plan is even in effect, are they going to make changes,” she said. “We’ll see how it works — [we're] open to other suggestions, but not shutting down the government unless you have your way, before the bill is implemented.”

Woman Freaks Out On Airplane Flying To Tampa

Obama’s Crisis Of Credibility

President Barack Obama is like a novice flier thrust into the cockpit of a 747. He’s pushing buttons, flipping switches and radioing air traffic control, but nothing’s happening. The plane is just slowly descending on its own, and while it may or may not crash, it at least doesn’t appear to be headed to any particularly useful destination.

Obama’s ineffectiveness, always a hallmark of his presidency, has reached a new cruising altitude this year. Not even a year into his second term, he looks like a lame duck and quacks like a lame duck. You guessed it — he’s a lame duck.

No New Leads In Missing Woman Case

BERLIN — Four months after her mysterious disappearance, the search continues for an elderly Berlin woman who has not been seen since Memorial Day.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, May 28, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office received a missing persons report for Helen Stephanie David, 77, of Berlin, from her son Ryan Putney. David lived on Carefree Lane in the South Point area and was last seen by family members around 3 p.m. the day before, which was Memorial Day Monday. According to Putney, David suffers from dementia and short-term memory loss.

An extensive search was conducted in the South Point area and along the Route 611 corridor on the ground, by air and in the water to new avail. At the height of the search effort, local law enforcement agencies were assisted by the Civil Air Patrol and search and rescue teams from as far away as the western shore of Maryland and an army of citizen volunteers combed the woods and properties around South Point with flashlights.

Like Edward Snowden, Benjamin Franklin Was Called A Traitor For Informing The People About The Actions Of Its Government

In 1773, Benjamin Franklin leaked confidential information by releasing letters written by then Lt. Governor of Massachusetts Thomas Hutchinson and his secretary Andrew Oliver to Thomas Whatley, an assistant to the British prime minister.

The letters contained opinions on how the British government should respond to colonial unrest over the Townsend Acts and other unpopular policies. Hutchinson suggested that it was impossible for the colonists to enjoy the same rights as subjects living in England and that “an abridgement of what are called English liberties” might be necessary.

The content of the letters was damaging to the British government. Franklin was dismissed as colonial Postmaster General and endured an hour-long censure from British Solicitor General Alexander Wedderburn.

Like Snowden, Franklin was called a traitor for informing the people about the actions of its government. As Franklin’s biographer H.W. Brands writes;

“For an hour he hurled invective at Franklin, branding him a liar, a thief, the instigator of the insurrection in Massachusetts, an outcast from the company of all honest men, an ingrate whose attack on Hutchinson betrayed nothing less than a desire to seize the governor’s office for himself. So slanderous was Wedderburn’s diatribe that no London paper would print it.”

Tyrants slandering patriots is nothing new. History decided that Franklin was a patriot. It was not so kind to the Hutchinsons and Wedderburns.

History will decide who the patriots were in the 21st century as well.

HISTORICAL COMMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER 10-12-13

SALISBURY UNIVERSITY

From the time in 1922 that the idea of a Normal School in Salisburywas necessary to the opening of the first classes in September, 1925, a number of steps had to be taken. Initially, a tract of land consisting of 29 acres was purchased from the W. F. Allen Company. This land had formerly been used as a peach orchard. An architect was engaged to design the main building in the Colonial style, which is now named Holloway Hall. The main building had a wing on the north end that had four classrooms for seven primary classes. The students used these to learn the rudimentary skills required to teach at the many small rural schools. This was the aim of the school when it was first opened. The two year course was all that was required. After completing these two years, and teaching at least two years to fulfill the obligation to the State, the ambitious teacher was in a position to win the B.S. degree in education. This was a lot more education than was required some 30 years earlier. Before the turn of the century, the only requirement was for someone to finish the required nine grades and assist a teacher in a small rural school for one year. After that they were a full-fledged teacher. Women teachers were not allowed to be married.

For years, I thought that the first graduating class would have been 1927. Then, I ran across a 1926 yearbook. It had a graduating class and I noted that all of the graduates had attended another Normal School during the previous year. The yearbook was named the Evergreen, a name that has survived to this day. The original graduating class consisted of 30 girls – no boys. The total attendance at the school was 105. I think the enrollment is now closer to 7,000.

The original name of the school was the Maryland State Normal School. It has undergone many name changes over the years, the first being toSalisbury State Teachers College in 1935. By this time it was a four-year school. The third year was added in 1931 and the fourth year was added in 1934. Memorabilia from the early years are often overlooked because not many people associate MSNS with the school. It only went by this name for 10 years and it was fairly small for this duration.

The next name change was not until 1963 when it became accredited for awarding degrees in fields other than teaching. It was then known as Salisbury State College. It has since had two more name changes. The first was to Salisbury State University and shortly after that to just Salisbury University.
