The Truth About Wind Turbines vs. Solar In Ocean City Maryland

HERE IS THE STRAIGHT FACTS AND MATH.

All of the impacts that were on the table in this meeting were as follows: environmental, all marine life, skyline visibility and overall aesthetics (which no one wants to see when looking out at the ocean), taxpayer costs, maintenance, hurricane damage and noise.

The deck was stacked early at the meeting in Ocean City Maryland as they strategically loaded their speakers early for the first three hours so locals wouldn't have a chance to speak.

They were trying to convince us that we need to go green now, as if we are all against it, attempting and trying to create two sides, pro and con.

The fanatical environmentalist (not the real environmentalist) stated we are in a catastrophic crisis and we should just do it anyway at the expense of anything and everything to save us from drastic climate change saving our children and grand children's futures.

They insisted that turbines must be approved now, even 10 miles offshore and in plain view to save the future generations and Ocean City.

The argument was made that water levels are rising and Ocean City will be under water any day now if we don't approve this now.

One person said he would love to see them bigger, the bigger the better even if they are in his back yard.

Most of those people making those statements not only are not from the Eastern Shore, they're not even from Maryland.

The others that were a part of the stacked deck said they were for it as they all had a financial gain to make.

One ironic thing is the one gentleman making these claims left right after his cataclysmic climate change speech to drive back to where he's from and left his trash on the floor beside his seat.

Some people are even pushing to just vote for it now as it is politically charged to go green without educating themselves of all green options available.

SUMMARY

-We are all for all forms of green energy. There wasn't one person there against that statement.

-We need to reduce our carbon footprint. However, we need to apply which green energy option makes the most sense to achieve our goals. (All the gains with the least impacts)

-The truth is that the ocean is rising at 3 mm per year, per NOAA. -After several years of these measurements, it became apparent that the rate of rise in the global mean sea level (GMSL) deduced from satellite measurements averaging more than 3 mm/yr per NOAA's navigation charts are the elevations.

-We can utilize each form of green energy and simply pick one that best suits each situation.

-The turbine proposal is permitted to use 73 square miles of space or 46,595 acres.

-We heard 120 megawatts (MW) was to be installed. However, the math adds up differently to thirty two, 853 ft tall 12 MW turbines which equals 384 MW!

-We heard that they were going to be installed at 12 miles, 19 miles and then 26 miles but their permit says they can install them as close as 10 miles off shore as that is Federal water. Which is it? At 26 miles the turbine would look like the tip of your thumb. At 10 miles it will look like your entire finger.

-It was even stated that once they get past these hearings Marylander's don't even have a say as it will get approved anyway. It's out of our jurisdiction and in Federal waters.

BOTTOM LINE

-We all want to go green.

-We all don't want global warming.

-We all wants all forms of green energy.

-No one wants to see it from land.

-No one wants the negative impacts.

OPTIONAL SOLUTION.

-Would it make sense to still achieve the same MW generation with ZERO potential impact from above??

-Achieve all of the positive impacts and address all the concerns of everyone except those who stand to benefit financially

-Going green.

-Less Global Warming

-Skyline preserved.

-Saving the marine life.

-Saving the fisherman.

-Greencoast.org -Solar Farm Acres per Megawatt

For example, for a 1 MW solar power plant installation, the solar farm land requirements would be around 4 acres, when using a crystalline technology. When we use thin-film technology, a 1MW plant will require an average of 4.5 to 5 acres of land.

-Do the math. 384 MW times five acres equals 1,920 acres.

-You can install a complete operational 384 MW solar farm in under 2,000 acres, (not 46,595 acres), 3.13 square miles not 73 square miles. (The turbine site is over 23 times larger than a solar site)

FINAL ANALYSIS.

-We are all for wind. However, if they can't move it beyond the impacts of the shore line where it is not visible and work to resolve the additional issues, then it's not the correct green energy option.

-Solar would be the better solution and achieve the same output without any of the impacts/concerns in everyone's testimony.

Keep in mind, it is an Italian company who is doing this project but they call themselves US Energy.

Who's benefiting from the energy???

There were people from New Jersey who came to the meeting and said, if you don't think it will visibly impact Ocean City, come to our back yard and see for yourself.
After 6 hours of testimony, no one came up with another solution which we have provided here with FACTS.

Bottom line, The Mayor and Council of Ocean City, Marybeth Carozza, Wayne Hartman and Andy Harris firmly agree with the following, We are all for wind. However, if they can't move it beyond the impacts of the shore line where it is not visible and work to resolve the additional issues, then it's not the correct green energy option.

So I must askwhat politicians are lining their pockets on this project?

The cost to create the same MW project in solar would be five hundred million dollars, including the cost of the land.

The wind turbine project proposed will cost taxpayers over TWO BILLION dollars.

But a spokeswoman said the panel has the authority to rescind or amend its order granting the wind farms ratepayer subsidies — money that is key to financing projects that together will cost more than $2 billion.

So I ask, why on God's Green Earth are we even considering wind turbines?

A Viewer Writes: DO LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TAKE CARE OF ONE ANOTHER ANYMORE

I recently attended a Fraternal order of Police meeting and this is what I observed.

1. A 20 yr veteran was disrespected for having the disabled interest at heart.

2. A board member told another 20 yr veteran who was injured how he was glad how that veteran was being treated by his work place.

3. I watched another 20 yr veteran who was injured attempt to put a motion on the floor and the President wouldnt allow it.

4. A 28 yr veteran who was injured stood up to speak and was so DISGUSTED at the board he started crying and said "Its not worth it" and walked out.

I watched the President stand up and grandstand about how she has been treated by the members and how terrible un truths have been told about her on SBYNEWS.

Then I heard them talk about allowing firefighters into the Fraternal Order Of Police Lodge so they could get there money.

I hope and pray all the members in attendance that night witnessed how much the board cared about the new building, and how much care and attention they showed to the Men and Women of Law Enforcement. I know my opinion about the board has changed!

THAT NIGHT, BOARD YOU BROUGHT SHAME ON US. YOU GUYS EMBARRASSED ME.

Nathan's Hot Dogs No Longer Served At Salisbury Sam's Club

Coming from NYC, having a Nathan's hot dog at Sam's club was somewhat of a treat for me over the years. Living in Ocean City, I'd get into the Salisbury area only once a week, (if that) and usually stop off for one of these incredible hot dogs. However, last week I ordered one and after the first bite I immediately knew something was wrong. When I went to the counter and asked, is this a Nathan's hot dog? She replied, we don't serve Nathan's any more.

That being said, the hot dog they're now serving is crap. If you were wondering why the hot dogs you recently bought from there tasted like crap, now you know.

Baltimore unveils plaques for courthouse to be named after Elijah Cummings

Baltimore Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young (D) on Friday detailed previously announced plans to name a city courthouse after the late Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.).

Cummings, who chaired the House Oversight and Reform Committee at the time of his death in October at age 68, was a civil rights advocate who graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law and practiced in Baltimore.

"Elijah was a son of Baltimore. He was proud of Baltimore," his widow, Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, said, according to ABC News. "His career as a legal professional started in this courthouse."

'It undermined his health': Elijah Cummings widow condemns Trump for calling husband’s district 'infested'

The widow of former Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings anguished over how President Trump’s remarks about her husband's district had an effect on him in his final months.

Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, who is running to fill her husband’s vacant seat in Congress, shared her disappointment over Trump's decision to criticize Baltimore while her husband battled long-standing health issues.

In July, Trump tweeted, “Rep, Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA."

He added, "As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.”

Save Our Sunrise – There Is Still Time to Voice Your Concern

Dear Ocean City Residents, Neighbors, Visitors and Friends,

Thank you for signing up for updates from the Town of Ocean City about the proposed wind farm and for your overwhelming show of support during the Save Our Sunrise Hearing that was held last Saturday, January 18th at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center. The turnout and support from the community was remarkable.

During the hearing, we echoed the Town of Ocean City’s standing. We support clean renewable energy, the potential of new jobs and the economic benefit to Maryland, but ask that these projects are placed out of our viewshed. Both Virginia and the Carolina’s have taken measures to protect their natural shoreline by requiring wind farms to be further off the coasts. Why can’t Maryland do the same?

Further, since these projects have already been delayed by the developers, we have time for the Public Service Commission to open an evidentiary hearing based on the material changes.

If you want clean energy, but not at the cost of losing our unspoiled ocean views forever, please call or write the Maryland Public Service Commission and your State and Federal elected officials. We only have one chance to do this. We need to do it right.

Joe Biden: 'I don't count drunk driving as a felony'

2020 Democratic front-runner Joe Biden said his administration would fire Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who arrest and deport illegal immigrants who are not guilty of felony crimes, adding that he doesn't "count drunk driving as a felony."

The former vice president made the comments at a Vice News forum on minority issues in Des Moines, Iowa, on Monday evening.

When asked what changes he would bring to the agency as president, Biden, 77, said he wants to change the fact that children of illegal immigrants live in fear that their parents will be arrested and deported.

Baltimore - A Once Great City That Is Now The Murder Capital Of America

Last Sunday I read an article and viewed the accompanying video of a Baltimore police Sergeant being kicked by “bystanders” as he attempted to arrest a person who, allegedly, spit in his face.

As a native Baltimorean, this incident was much more saddening to me, than shocking.

Before I continue, permit me to “cherry-pick” some personal history with the City:

Upon obtaining my Masters Degree in City & Regional Planning in 1973, I was offered and accepted a position with the City’s Planning Department. A directive from then Mayor William Donald Schaefer to develop off-street parking in the City’s “Corned Beef Row” area proved to be the pilot project of what would become a multi-agency program of Neighborhood Commercial Revitalization … that I had the good fortune of directing. Working partnerships including local businesses, neighborhood representatives and City agencies were established in a dozen neighborhoods; revitalization plans, where the City would match private investments by making coordinated public improvements, were prepared; and their implementation were visible signs of a city continuing to “heal” after the 1968 riots.

In 1980, with the Baltimore Economic Development (BEDCO), I worked on numerous projects, most notable among them was spearheading Baltimore’s efforts to attract the NAACP national headquarters. I had the pleasure of working with then NAACP President, Dr. Ben Hooks, and his staff, as I facilitated the donation of an historic building to the group, and secured a $1.1 million State grant for renovations … and the association still occupies that building in the Seton Business Park.

Virginia Senate votes in favor of 'red flag law' bill

Virginia's state senate has passed a bill that would allow law enforcement officers to confiscate guns from or prevent the purchase of firearms by people deemed to be threats to themselves or others, just days after a massive gun rights rally swarmed the state capitol.

The bill passed the chamber in a narrow 21-19 vote and will next move to the state Housem of Delegates.

Jake Rubenstein, a spokesman for Virginia House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn, told CNN the House would "deliver" on a demand from voters for gun control measures.

"Virginians spoke loud and clear on Election Day demanding common sense gun violence protections, and make no mistake, we will deliver on that mandate," Jake Rubenstein said.

China Is Building a 1,000-Bed Hospital in 6 Days to Deal With the Coronavirus Outbreak

The quarantined city's existing hospitals are overwhelmed. They're turning away patients with symptoms and are using social media to appeal for medical supplies.

Authorities in Wuhan began building a 1000-bed hospital to deal with the coronavirus outbreak on Thursday night, and say it will be finished in just six days.

The rapid construction project is a reaction to the unraveling situation in the central Chinese city, which has been closed off from the outside. Hospitals are running out of beds and medical supplies, while patients presenting with coronavirus symptoms have been turned away. The situation has led to growing criticism for the slow reaction to the crisis by authorities in Wuhan and in Beijing.

The virus has now killed 26 people and infected 830 worldwide.

Work began on the new hospital — which will effectively act as a quarantine center — in the Caidian district of Wuhan on Thursday night, Chinese state media reported. Officials and those working on the construction project say the hospital will be ready to receive patients by the middle of next week.

Liberal Propaganda At Its Best, Ocean City Wind Turbines

This is the kind of crap these liberals feed their people, yet they claim to be the kinder and gentler party. It's total BS! Fight this wind farm like it was the last thing you can do in life because it will cost you everything in the long run. Your costs to repair, maintain, electric bills will skyrocket and your property value will decrease, (unless you are the Mayor of Salisbury who doesn't give a crap about OC). I don't know who this Idiot Jared is, (above) but let's give him the attention this Idiot deserves. By the way Jared, it's an Italian company, not an American company. Just because they put USA in their name doesn't make them an American company.

Berlin Teen Pleads Guilty To Second-Degree Murder

SNOW HILL — A Berlin teen charged in May for his role in the death of another teen during an altercation pleaded guilty on Tuesday to second-degree murder and now awaits his fate pending a pre-sentence investigation.

Around 6:15 p.m. last May 20, Berlin Police responded to a wooded area behind an apartment complex near Route 113 for a reported altercation that had occurred. Berlin Police responded to the area after a suspect identified as Vershawn Hudson-Crawford, 16, of Berlin, walked to the department’s headquarters with his mother and grandmother to report he had been involved in a fight.

During the course of the conversation, investigators learned the location of the victim, later identified as Dehaven Nichols, 17, of Berlin, in the wooded area. Berlin Police responded and found Nichols unresponsive in the wooded area. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Berlin EMS.

Tulsi Gabbard sues Hillary Clinton for defamation

Democrat presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard has filed a defamation suit against Hillary Clinton for calling her a “Russian asset,” according to newly filed court papers.

“Tulsi Gabbard is running for President of the United States, a position Clinton has long coveted, but has not been able to attain,” Wednesday’s Manhattan federal lawsuit reads.

“In October 2019 — whether out of personal animus, political enmity, or fear of real change within a political party Clinton and her allies have long dominated — Clinton lied about her perceived rival Tulsi Gabbard. She did so publicly, unambiguously, and with obvious malicious intent.”

The former secretary of state has refused to walk back comments she made during an Oct. 17 appearance on a podcast, in which she referred to the Hawaii congresswoman as a “favorite of the Russians.”

“She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far,” Clinton told “Campaign HQ” host and former Obama campaign manager David Plouffe.

“And, that’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she’s also a Russian asset. Yeah, she’s a Russian asset,” added Clinton.

Gabbard is suing for $50 million, citing defamation claims.

Facts Your Local Media Are Too LAZY To Expose On Ocean City Windmill Proposal

This week I will be creating an article that should blow each ad everyone out there away with FACTS. With almost 2,000 people attending last weeks meeting at the convention center in Ocean City, the company that is involved in this project stacked the deck with tons of people who were allowed to speak first, delaying LOCALS up to six hours before those who opposed the project could be heard. By that time there were very few people, (including local media) around to hear the truth.

I will deliver FACTS about how they are lying about the actual energy they claim these windmills will create and NO ONE ever calculated the figures, we did. Keep checking in this week as it will take some time to put it all together. By the way, each blade on each unit is bigger in height than the Statue of Liberty.

Virginia State Senator Warns Gun Owners About Rally: ‘We Are Being Set Up’

Republican Virginia State Senator Amanda Chase issued a warning on Friday to the thousands of Second Amendment advocates who are planning to attend an upcoming massive pro-gun rally in Richmond, saying that they are “being set up.”

The Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) organized the event, which is being held on Monday, and “is traditionally known as ‘Lobby Day’ in Virginia’s capital,” WTOP reported. “Tens of thousands are expected to show up for the event Monday in Richmond. Given the contentious nature of the issue, the prospect of such a large event has raised tensions. Earlier, [Virginia Democrat Governor Ralph] Northam declared a state of emergency. And recent arrests have further raised those tensions.”

In a Facebook post, Chase wrote: “Sadly, I am posting this, knowing that the Governor of Virginia has declared a State of Emergency in our state. I want you to be aware of how we are being set up. Does the Patriot Act ring a bell? Does the National Defense Authorization Act ring a bell?”
