Meet The Disability-Industrial-Complex: Up To 45% On Disability Insurance Are Frauds

If the American public knew what was going on in our system, half would be outraged and the other half would apply for benefits.

- Marilyn Zahm, one of the 1,500 disability judges operating in the U.S.

I’ve known about the “disability” scam for many years now, but I had never read a report that details the racket until I checked out the following from CBS’ 60 Minutes. As usual, the real money being made in the whole scheme is not centered around the people collecting the checks, but rather attorneys, doctors and even judges who grease the wheels of the $135 billion “disability-industrial-complex.”

For example, in the economically depressed border area of Kentucky and West Virginia we find 10%-15% of the population on disability, or three times the national average. The regional disability racket is essentially run by attorney Eric Conn, who’s clients for disability enjoy a 100% success rate thanks to Mr. Conn’s relationship with doctors and a local judge named David Daugherty.

Here are just a couple of examples of how Mr. Conn uses his advertising budget:

Pentagon Says Charity Will Pay Military Death Benefits, Amid Outrage Over Cut-Off

The Pentagon announced Wednesday that a charity will step in to pay death benefits to the families of fallen soldiers, in response to widespread outrage over the payments being cut off amid the partial government shutdown.

Earlier in the day, the head of the Veterans of Foreign Wars slammed the cut-off as "absolutely appalling."

The House voted Wednesday afternoon to restore the $100,000 payments. But in a rapid turn of events, the Pentagon announced minutes later that it had entered into an agreement with the non-profit Fisher House Foundation to keep the payments flowing to families -- without the need for congressional action. (Though the House approved its bill unanimously, senior Senate sources told Fox News that the Senate did not plan to take it up.)

Fire Official Demoted For Blog Blunder

An assistant fire chief in Clearcreek Twp. was demoted Tuesday as part of an agreement ending a police investigation prompted by a complaint by the local school board president about someone stealing her identity in an internet blog.

The Clearcreek Twp. trustees voted unanimously to demote Christopher Vecchi from assistant fire chief for a year in a “last chance agreement.” Vecchi agreed to use sick time and paid time off to compensate the township for his pay since being placed on paid leave on Aug. 16.

Vecchi was suspended after Kelly Kohls, president of the Springboro school board, filed a complaint with Clearcreek Twp. police on July 27 that someone had posed as her in an internet blog focused on Springboro school levy issues, according to a police report.

Me And ACA

I tried a bunch of times to get on NYS's health exchange last week. Dead end. The site went down for 'repairs' over the weekend, but as of 8 AM today it was up and running. Some thoughts.

The first step is to get a user ID. For those familiar with this type of registration process the Captchas etc. are not a big hurdle. But two 8 digit codes (no spaces please) are required on step one. My guess is that there are fair number of people who will struggle with this. The same could be said for the password requirements (eight digits, two numbers and one capital letter).

The NYS exchange wants more than the standard ID info of address and SS#. I was asked a series of questions to 'prove' my identity. I was asked to identify a financial institution that I had opened an account with in the past two years. Five banks were listed, and one of them was the bank I had in fact opened a new account.

Another question blew my mind. I have never purchased pet insurance, so this was a trick question that required the response "None of the above" to continue with registration.

Regular Citizens Enter National Parks And Dare Obama's Goons To Catch Them

It belongs to the people, not to the government. And yes, the former outranks the latter.

In choosing to stage histrionics over the so-called "shutdown," the Obama Administration hoped to prove to everyone how vital and wonderful the government really is. Why, you won't have your parks! You won't have your veterans' memorials! We'll even close the ocean!

But what they've really done is demonstrate what happens when the government intertwines itself with things that may belong to the public, but really don't need government oversight. We all heard the stories last week of the government erecting barricades at the World War II Memorial, even though it is normally not staffed and thus would not need to be affected by the shutdown. Closing off the memorial cost more money than doing nothing. It was strictly a stunt by the White House to upset people so they could blame Republicans.

Ben Shapiro: TruthRevolt Will Make MSM 'Pay' For Lies, Change 'Nature Of Media'

On Sunday, Breitbart News Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro discussed the launch of a new website that will seek to "change the nature of media" by exposing the donors and advertisers that enable the mainstream media to distort the truth and push their agendas with no accountability, especially when it comes to their bottom lines.

Shapiro will lead TruthRevolt.org, which will launch on Monday to expose the mainstream media and “unmask leftists in the media for who they are, destroy their credibility with the American public, and devastate their funding bases."

Appearing on Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125 with Breitbart News Executive Chairman and host Stephen K. Bannon, Shapiro said those who "bankroll" and enable the mainstream media to lie and "push their agenda" must "be made aware that the American public is not going to stand for this bullshit."

He simply said there has to be a "price to pay for that."

Smoking Gun Exposed- D.C. Police Covers Up Giving Feinstein Illegal ‘Assault Weapons’

Washington Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier seems to think that gun-control laws don’t apply to the liberal elite. The police chief helped Sen. Dianne Feinstein acquire “assault weapons,” which are illegal to possess in the District, for a news conference early this year to promote a ban on these firearms, then tried to cover up the police involvement.

Now, a response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request reveals Chief Lanier’s shocking willingness to bend the rules for partisan and ideological purposes.

Lobbyist Chuck DeWitt emailed Chief Lanier on Christmas Eve last year. “Sen. Feinstein has asked us to bring examples of assault weapons used in the worst incidents over the past few years.” The CEO of the Lafayette Group told the chief that the guns would be put on display at a media event and asked, “Could you put me in touch with your person who would have any of these weapons?”

Epic fail: 99% Of Obamacare Applications Can’t Be Processed, ‘Nightmare Scenario’ Coming In January

Obamacare is going to crash and burn from technical issues more than political concerns, it seems. You’ve probably already heard that virtually no one can sign up using the online Obamacare exchanges. The web forms are broken. The code is buggy. The data integration is a jaw-dropping failure.

Image: Obamacare Supporters.

This is why, all over the country and across the media, no one can seem to locate anyone who has successfully signed up through Healthcare.gov. Even the one person the Obama administration rolled out as a “success case” turns out to be completely staged and fabricated.

But there’s even more shocking news about Obamacare that could utterly destroy any credibility the system might have remaining: Of those applications who somehow make it through the broken online sign-up system, 99% can’t be processed and will fail.

99% can’t be processed

Rain Could Spoil Many Local Activities

Can you think of ways to enjoy the next few days while it rains?

There are many local activities coming up this weekend in Wicomico County and Ocean City. Hopefully the rain tapers off by Saturday but it will be a tough week for those cruisers who arrived early to participate in the week long event.

So let's get creative in case the rain sticks around into the weekend. Any ideas?

U. S. Route 113 Median Closure Set In Georgetown

The Department of Transportation has announced that, following consultation with local elected officials, it will close the median crossover at the intersection of U.S. Route 113 and Kruger Road/Woods Branch Road near Georgetown

The purpose of this closure is to improve the overall safety of motorists and to reduce angle crashes. Since 2008, there have been 18 angle crashes at this intersection.

DelDOT Secretary Shailen Bhatt notes, “DelDOT is acting in response to continuing problems with crashes at this median crossover. We have met with business owners, residents, legislators and others to discuss and develop the best course of action to keep motorists safe.”

COULD A WHITE SOLDIER’S STABBING DEATH BY A GROUP OF BLACK MEN HAVE BEEN A HATE CRIME?

Tevin Geike, 20, was walking down a street in Lakewood, Wash., with two of his fellow Army soldiers when a car full of black men reportedly drove by and shouted a racial comment. One of the soldiers apparently responded by calling out the group’s disrespect for combat veterans.

What followed were deadly events that have police investigating whether Geike, who was fatally stabbed during a subsequent altercation, was the victim of a hate crime.

The soldier, an aviation operations specialist, died in a parking lot, police say, after the men got out of the car and proceeded to fight with the three combat veterans. While it was mostly a verbal altercation, one of the men reportedly stabbed Geike while the group was retreating back toward the vehicle.

Bleeding profusely, he dropped to the ground and died at the scene as the five suspects — all said to be in their mid-20s — drove away.

CAPITOL POLICE PICK UP TRASH AT AMNESTY RALLY

Democratic Reps. Charles Rangel, Luis Gutierrez, Keith Ellison, Joseph Crowley, Al Green, and John Lewis, along with several other pro-amnesty activists, union members, and other left-wing protesters, got themselves arrested on purpose on Tuesday afternoon in a statement made in support of comprehensive immigration reform.

Only a few hundred demonstrators participated in the part of the rally that led to the arrests, while several thousand rallied on the National Mall earlier in the day.

NBC's Washington, D.C. affiliate reports 200 were arrested on scene while a couple hundred activists cheered the demonstrators on from the sidewalks on both sides of First Street between Maryland Avenue Southwest and Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest. Officers broke out barricades to keep activists on the sidewalk, as AFL-CIO and other union organizers wearing orange vests with their organizations’ namesakes emblazoned on the back organized the crowd.'

Bloomberg Piles $1 Million Into Fumbling Booker Campaign

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, once seen as a potential Republican presidential campaign, is shifting further to the left, coughing up $1 million to back Newark Mayor Cory Booker, the embattled Democratic Senate candidate and a member of Bloomberg’s “Mayors Against Illegal Guns.”

Bloomberg’s help for Booker has sparked a conservative retaliation and fundraising bid for GOP candidate Steven Lonegan in the last week of the special election to replace former Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who died in June.

The conservative group American Commitment has just cut a biographical video of Lonegan in its fundraising effort to help the longshot conservative take advantage of Booker’s fumblings and win the state.

“The liberals are sweating big time because they know Steve Lonegan is the genuine article,” said the group's Phil Kerpen.

Enrollment Crawls For Affordable Health Insurance

What better place than a library to seek knowledge, and on this day, the Maryland Health Connection van arrives in Columbia carrying a load of information on how the Affordable Care Act can work for Marylanders.

"We spend most of our time giving information and correcting a lot of wrong information that's out there, but they understand that we're not in a race and that there's time," said Pat Gussio of Healthy Howard.

In its first week alone, Maryland's website has drawn 170,000 visitors and more than 13,000 have set up accounts, but only 326 of them have actually enrolled drawing a mixed reaction over its implementation.

Farm Groups Appeal Chesapeake Bay Cleanup Ruling

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Farm groups said Tuesday that they were appealing a judge’s decision to uphold federal pollution limits that are designed to improve the health of the Chesapeake Bay, the nation’s largest estuary, by more tightly regulating wastewater treatment, construction and agricultural runoff.

The American Farm Bureau Federation and the National Corn Growers Association said they each had filed a notice to appeal the September decision to the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia.

In her decision, U.S. District Court Judge Sylvia Rambo in Harrisburg had deemed the plan to reduce pollution in the Chesapeake Bay to be the largest and most complex of more than 47,000 such plans completed thus far throughout the United States.

Too Harsh? HS Hits Student With Suspension for Patriotic 'Vandalism'

A Minnesota high school student says he was slapped with a five-day suspension for an emphatic show of patriotism.

The students placed 150 mini-flags all around school grounds and painted USA on doors. Two others received lesser suspensions.

Bryce Reps, who led the effort, is fighting back against the punishment, arguing it could hinder his chances at getting an Air Force scholarship. He points out that his penalty is harsher than if he had gone to school drunk.

Cuccinelli: PPP Cooked The Numbers In Va. Governor's Poll

Public Policy Polling manipulated its numbers to skew results in its newest poll on the Virginia governor's race, state Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli said.

Republican Cuccinelli is in a hotly contested campaign against Democrat Terry McAuliffe, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

The Politico poll — conducted by the liberal-leaning Public Policy Polling and Republican company Harper Polling — shows McAuliffe opening a 9-point lead over Cuccinelli in the country's only competitive governor's race.

Cuccinelli's campaign immediately blasted the survey.

"We reject the findings within this poll," spokesman Richard Cullen said in a statement. "One of the polling outfits that conducted this survey has been exposed by a number of neutral news outlets for withholding poll numbers that were unhelpful to its Democratic friends.”

Super-Rally Against President In Works

'Obama is behaving like a vicious tyrant'

Veterans first fought America’s wars, then they fought the National Park Service over White House-ordered closures of war memorials because of the partial shutdown of the federal government.

Now they’re developing a response to President Obama’s “war” against them: A rally.

The Million Vet March on the Memorials will be held Sunday, Oct. 13, at 9 a.m. Eastern at the World War II memorial on the National Mall, the location where rangers under orders from the White House tried, unsuccessfully, to prevent vets from visiting in recent days.

The announcement said the group Special Operations Speaks is organizing the rally because the Obama administration “is using the government shutdown as an excuse to keep our veterans from acknowledging the debt owed to them and their predecessors.”

“This is unforgivable. It is also unjustified, as no taxpayer funds are spent by keeping these shrines open. We will open them ourselves, if that’s what it takes,” said the group, founded by former Navy SEAL Larry Bailey.

“We know that there may be some degree of confrontation, given the anti-military attitude of the administration. It is our intention to avoid confrontation, and we request that you join us in avoiding any kind of physical contact with park rangers, police, or other law-enforcement personnel. Give them no excuse to hijack the moment.” the organization said.

Sebelius: Individuals Can Get A One Year Obamacare Delay

Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius defended Obamacare in a very contentious interview with Daily Show host Jon Stewart on Monday night.

Stewart pressed Sebelius on why businesses get a one-year delay on Obamacare but individuals do not. After several attempts for an answer, Sebelius eventually said individuals could delay Obamacare for a year -- by paying the penalty.
JON STEWART: So this is what some would consider the first mall that's been created [for purchasing health care insurance].

KATHLEEN SEBELIUS: You bet. The first -- new rules for companies.

STEWART: So why is it that individuals, though, couldn't say that they didn't want to do it just for a year, like business?

SEBELIUS: Well, they can.

STEWART: Oh, they --

SEBELIUS: They'd pay a fine. They'd pay a fine at the end of the year, but they don't have to -- I mean, they can say I didn't want to do it. The theory is they can't pick and choose if they're going to get hit by a bus or diagnosed with a illness. For a lot of young folks, there is one fall on the basketball court, one auto accident from a lifetime of hospital bills they can't pay.

It May Be Gloomy And Raining But This American Is Loving Ocean City

Then you get over the Bridge and there's this incredible feeling of peace. That's what it feels like for me here in Ocean City. Especially this time of year when most everyone is gone.

In the near future I'm going to start publishing the specials at local OC restaurants. I went to one last Sunday where they had half price dinners and it was absolutely fantastic. You deserve that feeling as well and it's only a hop, skip and a jump from Salisbury.

*UPDATED* The List: Unnecessarily Shut Down By Obama To Inflict Public Pain

While our president still enjoys his essential employees and locations: the White House chefs, Camp David, and a military golf course, there doesn't seem to be any question that in mercenary pursuit of a political win, this White House is determined to unreasonably punish as many everyday people as possible. And this includes children sick with cancer. That might sound like hyperbole, but it is not.

Although Barack Obama's chefs have been deemed "essential," employees at the National Institutes of Health who offer last-chance experimental cancer treatments for children suffering from cancer have not. Worse still, House Republicans have offered to compromise with the president and single the NIH out for funding. The White House has threatened a veto.

Breakthrough Or Breakdown?

by Raquel Guillory, Assistant Secretary, Department of Business and Economic Development

Fyodor Biotechnologies Corp. is on the precipice of a breakthrough in investigating sources of fever, other than malaria, in developing countries. Chairman and CEO Dr. Eddy Agbo was thrilled when he received word, only last week, of a National Science Foundation grant for their work. But before they could even process the payment, our federal government needlessly shut down.

Fyodor, headquartered in Baltimore at the UMB BioPark, has three full-time employees in Maryland and five in Africa. This grant meant an opportunity to seek out additional staff to help fulfill Fyodor’s mission of doing social good through science, but now those plans are on hold.

“The greatest challenge for us as we are developing our products is that every day we lose time, somebody is dying because that product could have benefited them and added years to their lives,” Dr. Agbo said. “It’s really very frustrating. It doesn’t allow you to keep focused on the critical mission that you set up the company.”

If the shutdown persists – he predicts that Fyodor would have no choice but to shutter the project.

“There are no very good options. If we don’t have the money, then the options for us are to put the project on hold entirely until we get the resources, which is really a pity,” Dr. Agbo said. “The other option for us is to find bridging funding. But you have to be able to tell the other source ‘In one week’s time, or two weeks’ time, I’ll be able to pay this back to you.’”

Despite the gloomy outlook for Congress coming together to fund our government, Dr. Agbo will not give up hope for his company’s mission of doing social good.

“We are adding our voice to the chorus,” Dr. Agbo said. “We are really urging our lawmakers and the president to find a way to resolve this. The impact is directly on the lives of people.”

You’ll Pay More To Keep Warm This Winter, Energy Dept. Forecasts

The government forecast Tuesday that most households will pay more for heat this winter. Heating oil users will catch a slight break, but will still pay near-record prices to keep warm.

Prices for natural gas, electricity and propane should be higher, the primary reason that more than 90 percent of U.S. homes will incur higher heating expenses.

Natural gas users will see the biggest percentage increase after two years of historically low prices. Their heating bills should rise to an average of $679, the Energy Department said in its annual outlook for heating costs. That is about 13 percent higher than a year ago but still 4 percent below the average for the previous five winters.

Ranger Mass-Cas In Afghanistan: The Airborne Ranger In The Sky

A Mass Casualty event is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. When a military unit sustains so many injuries that it can no longer support itself, it becomes what is known as a Mass-Cas event. This doesn’t happen very often, thankfully, although we know of some other examples where casualties became overwhelming, such as Operation Gothic Serpent or the Extortion 17 crash.

One such event happened Saturday night to 3rd Ranger Battalion during a night operation in Southern Afghanistan.

A Ranger Platoon infiltrated the objective area by helicopter and soon came under attack. The details are still vague and we won’t speculate or armchair quarterback from a distance. We do know that the Rangers were hit both by command detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IED’s) and enemy combatants wearing suicide vests.

Four friendlies were killed in the blast, two Rangers and two enablers. Others were critically wounded during the series of detonations, many of them still in intensive care with serious injuries. The numbers of Wounded in Action are worse than anything I’ve heard in recent years.

While the media has reported on Sunday that Delta Force flawlessly executed a capture operation in Libya, and SEAL Team Six wisely aborted their mission in Somalia without taking casualties, the 75th Ranger Regiment was not so fortunate that same weekend. The New York Times reported on the casualties but rightly withheld the details until the families could be notified. The names have not been released by SOCOM, and we ask that people not post any names until after that time.

Is This How IRS Cover-up Works?

Darrell Issa, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, says he is confident the story behind the IRS’s targeting of tea-party and conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status will eventually come out. But patience will have to be a virtue. Issa’s staff acknowledged late last month that the IRS had handed over to the committee a little more than 10 percent of the documents the IRS itself has admitted are relevant to the committee’s investigation.

Last night, Issa spoke via Skype to the New York Meeting, a gathering of influential conservatives founded by Mallory Factor. Issa said that while his investigation is incomplete, he has concluded that at least one reform at the IRS is absolutely necessary. “While the IRS formally has only two political appointees — its commissioner and its chief counsel — it’s clear that political people are embedded throughout the agency in ‘career’ slots,” he said. That can create real credibility and trust issues when the IRS is handling sensitive political matters.

Issa says he is thinking about a bill that would bar anyone from work in an apolitical “career” slot at the IRS for ten years if they come from an explicitly political position.

Maryland Obamacare Exchange: 'No Doctors Are Found'

"If you've got a doctor that you like, you will be able to keep your doctor," President Obama assured the public as he worked to sell Obamacare in 2010. However, in July 2013, visitors to Healthcare.gov received a less confident "you may be able to" in answer to the question, "Can I keep my own doctor?" Beginning October 1, users of the Maryland Health Connection, that state's Obamacare insurance exchange, might have an even more basic question: Are there any doctors?

A consumer information update dated the day the exchange opened informed users (at least those who took the time to read the updates) that the doctor search function was not yet operational and they would need to visit an external website to find out which doctors accept which plans. The full update reads as follows [emphasis added]:
Search for your physician. If you are interested in understanding which health plans a particular doctor participates in, please visit https://providersearch.crisphealth.org – a new service sponsored by Maryland Health Connection. For the time being, doctors and other providers are not yet available in Maryland Health Connection; therefore, if you choose to search for them on the website, you will receive a message that “no doctors are found” message.

All for smoke because they, (MoJo's) started the oven. Government is just so far out of control. Small business is never going to make it in this country.

Even Conservatives Betray America On Health Care

So, Warren Buffet woke up and called foul to Obamacare. John Boehner finally found a spine and tried to call a halt to Obamacare. But does it matter? Isn’t it all too little, too late?

For years Warren Buffet, a man touted for his business savvy, has been supporting the Democratic Party, which, for over 50 years, has been spending like drunken sailors –with my apologies, as Ronald Reagan said, to drunken sailors: at least they sober up.

How could Buffet not have known during all those years he was coughing up millions to the Dems, that the statist policies of the Democrats – dictatorially raising minimum wage, overregulation of business practices, wanton taxation of corporate profit and dis-incentivizing accomplishment through progressive private income taxation, not to mention the demonization of corporations themselves – would be bad for business?

Found Dogs

My name is Lindsey Cooper and I live at 335 Cedar Dr in Salisbury. I found 2 dogs, one huskey and one brindle pit mix. They are both extremely sweet and looks like they belong with the same family as I found them together. They have collars put no tags. I have them in my back yard but want their family to find them so they can go home before these storms come in. If their families aren't found i'll be taking them to the Humane Socity at the end of the day. I cant keep them in my house as I have 2 small dogs of my own and they are real wierd about bigger dogs. Please spread the word so they can go home where they belong. lmcooper89@yahoo.com

It's Definitive - We've Reached Peak Jobs

The U.S. has reached Peak Jobs--at least the sort that can support a household.

There has long been a quasi-magical belief in the U.S. that capitalism's intrinsic dynamic of creative destruction will always create more jobs than it destroys. The evidence is compelling that this belief is no longer reality-based.

Please examine these charts of employment, keeping in mind that only full-time jobs can support households and pay sufficient taxes to fund entitlements paid by payroll taxes (Social Security and Medicare) and pay enough income taxes to support the rest of government.

Full-time jobs: the number of full-time jobs is essentially unchanged from 1999 while the U.S. population has increased 28%.

Dem Congresswoman Suggests “Martial Law” To End Government Shutdown

Colorado Gun-Rights Advocates Plan Another Recall Effort

Gun-rights advocates in Colorado have started gathering signatures in support of another recall effort against a Democratic state senator following two successful recalls of lawmakers over votes in support of gun control laws.

Recall organizers received certification Friday from the Colorado Secretary of State’s office to gather signatures in the effort to recall Sen. Evie Hudak, a Democrat from Westminster, Colo., who backed the controversial gun measures, the Denver Post reported.

“She has infringed upon our constitutional right to keep and bear arms. She has voted to make all citizens less safe and to drive hundreds of jobs from Colorado,” Mike McAlpine, a spokesman for the group behind the recall effort, said in a statement emailed to the Denver Post.

Traffic Shutdown? Truck Drivers Plan 3-Day Protest On Capital Beltway

Not only is the government (partially) shut down, but now a caravan of truck drivers is looking to shut down traffic around Washington -- as part of a bizarre protest against things that are "destroying America."

The group, Truckers Ride for the Constitution, is trying to attract participants for a demonstration on the Capital Beltway starting this Friday.

"Truck drivers will not haul freight! ... Truckers will lead the path to saving our country if every American rides with them!" the group's Facebook page, which had more than 57,000 "likes" as of Tuesday morning, declares.

The truckers reportedly plan to clog the Beltway by driving "three lanes deep" for three days.

Fort Meade Recalls More Than 200 Employees Furloughed

Fort Meade officials say they have recalled more than 200 Garrison employees who had been furloughed during the government shutdown.

According to officials, the employees reported to work Monday, and the Fort Meade commissary also reopened for business Monday.

“The secretary directed that the Department of Defense could eliminate furloughs for employees whose responsibilities contribute to the morale, well-being, capabilities and readiness of service members,” John Moeller, deputy garrison commander, said. “That’s exactly what the garrison civilians at Fort Meade do every day so we instructed our staff to return to work.”

'Gestapo' Tactics Meet Senior Citizens At Yellowstone

NEWBURYPORT — Pat Vaillancourt went on a trip last week that was intended to showcase some of America’s greatest treasures.

Instead, the Salisbury resident said she and others on her tour bus witnessed an ugly spectacle that made her embarrassed, angry and heartbroken for her country.

Vaillancourt was one of thousands of people who found themselves in a national park as the federal government shutdown went into effect on Oct. 1. For many hours her tour group, which included senior citizen visitors from Japan, Australia, Canada and the United States, were locked in a Yellowstone National Park hotel under armed guard.

The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the video shows the undercover officer banging on the rear window and shattering it. The victim is then seen being pulled out of the car and the undercover rides off, sources say.

Senate report finds massive fraud in West Virginia Social Security office

A two-year congressional study into a West Virginia Social Security office found that a prominent lawyer, a judge and several doctors profited by fraudulently getting the federal government to award benefits to 1,800 people.

Whistleblowers speaking Monday before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee detailed how managers at a Huntington Social Security disability office facilitated a scheme to exploit the system for years. The investigation charged that Eric Conn, the third-highest-paid Social Security lawyer in the country, worked with a judge to overturn benefit denials for hundreds of claimants without any interference from the local Social Security office. The judge approved as much as 99 percent of the cases brought to him.

"It was a mass collusion between a judge and an attorney," said Sarah Carver, a senior case technician at the Huntington office. "It was something that was very noticeable within days of my employment and it just increased. And it was done in such openness. It wasn't something that was going on behind the scenes."

Pentagon Freezes Death Benefits For Fallen Soldiers' Families

It's another ugly symptom of the partial government shutdown -- and this time it impacts the families of soldiers who are dying for their country.

The Pentagon confirmed Tuesday that, as long as the budget impasse lasts, it will not be able to pay death benefits to the families of troops who've been killed in combat.

"Unfortunately, as a result of the shutdown, we do not have the legal authority to make death gratuity payments at this time," said Lt. Cmdr. Nate Christensen, a Defense Department spokesman. "However, we are keeping a close eye on those survivors who have lost loved ones serving in the Department of Defense."

White House Senior Adviser Dan Pfeiffer’s ‘Unfortunate’ Tweet Slings The ‘N-Word’

Twitter poster Elise Foley perhaps said it best: “Dan Pfeiffer, check your Twitter.” That came shortly after the White House senior adviser posted a most unfortunate message, complete with the dreaded “n-word.”

His Tuesday tweet read: “@jmartNYT also a much [n-word] factor on the right – Dan Pfeiffer (@pfeiffer44) October 8, 2013.”

As the adage goes — that’s got to hurt.

Mr. Pfeiffer was trying to answer a posting from Jonathan Martin, who wrote: “Glad @NBCFirst Read acknowledged a major factor in polarization: how Amers get information, rise of Internet/cable.”

His initial reply was tame enough. Mr. Pfeiffer said, “@jmartNYT @NBCFirstRead it’s a very smart point and massive factor in political polarization.”

It was Mr. Pfeiffer’s follow-up that caused the headache. Likely, he meant to write “also a much bigger factor,” but hit the “n” key by mistake.

However, even if one isn’t able to enroll successfully in the program, the website’s privacy policy, which users are required to scroll through before proceeding, is still available for whoever wants to read it.

And although the policy is pretty standard, packed with the usual legalese, there are a few details buried in it that have raised some concerns.

See, the policy states that all personal information used during the singing up process will be kept strictly confidential and will be used only by the Obamacare exchanges.

Switzerland Warning Against Obama Regime Stuns Russia

The Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) is reporting today that Switzerland’s Federal Intelligence Service (NDB) is proposing that the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (EDA) issue an immediate “Situation: Grave, Do Not Travel” warning for the United States upgrading that North American nation from its current status as “Stable” and on par with a similar warning issued for the war torn Middle Eastern country of Syria.

According to this report, millions of data files on counter-terrorism operations from both MI6 and the CIA were stolen this past December (2012) by a senior computer technician of Swiss citizenship who planned to release them to Wikileaks.

These highly classified documents stored on NDB servers, this report continues, were stolen by what was described as a “very talented” still unnamed NDB technician senior enough to have “administrator rights,” giving him unrestricted access to most or all of the NDB’s networks.

The December, 2012 theft of these top secret British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) and US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) files, GRU intelligence analysts in this report say, came on the heels of a similar theft barely two years prior when MI6 spy Daniel Houghton, also a highly trained computer technician with “administrator rights,” was arrested while attempting to, also, release to Wikileaks thousands of top-secret MI6, MI5 and CIA electronic files.

Obamacare’s Unconstitutional Origins

Tax legislation has to originate in the House; the health-care law didn’t.

Of all the fraud perpetrated in the passage of Obamacare — and the fraud has been epic — the lowest is President Obama’s latest talking point that the Supreme Court has endorsed socialized medicine as constitutional. To the contrary, the justices held the “Affordable” Care Act unconstitutional as Obama presented it to the American people: namely, as a legitimate exercise of Congress’s power to regulate interstate commerce.

To sustain this monstrosity, Chief Justice John Roberts had to shed his robes and put on his legislator cap. He rewrote Obamacare as a tax — the thing the president most indignantly promised Americans that Obamacare was not. And it is here that our recent debate over the Constitution’s Origination Clause — the debate in whichMatt Franck, Ramesh Ponnuru, Mark Steyn, and yours truly have probed the historical boundaries of the “power of the purse” reposed by the Framers in the House of Representatives — descends from the airy realm of abstraction and homes in on a concrete violation of law.
