ACLU Sues D.C. Police Officers

Members of the Washington, D.C. police department are being sued by the American Civil Liberties Union for allegedly arresting people unlawfully and depriving them for hours without access to basic items, like food, water, and the chance to go to the bathroom.

The ACLU is representing four plaintiffs who were present at the anti-Trump rallies Jan. 20 in D.C. including Shay Horse, a freelance photographer based out of New York who was photographing the demonstration when he was pepper sprayed by a police officer and later arrested.

Horse was "denied food, water, and access to a toilet for periods ranging from 7 to 16 hours." He and another plaintiff, Elizabeth Lagesse, were kept in a state of "anxiety, hunger, thirst, and other discomfort," according to the complaint. They were also handcuffed so tightly "that one of Plaintiff Lagesse's wrists bled and Plaintiff Horse lost feeling in several fingers, some of which were numb for months afterward."

Alarm clock stuck in Pittsburgh man's wall has been going off for nearly 13 years

WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - Walls may not be able to talk, but they do ring for a Pittsburgh man who got an alarm clock stuck inside his wall during a DIY project gone wrong nearly 13 years ago.

Back in September 2004, Ross Township resident Jerry Lynn was attempting to pass a TV wire through his living room wall and came up with a trick to help him pinpoint exactly where to knock a hole in the wall. He set an alarm clock to go off in 10 minutes, tied it to a string, and put it down an air vent.

"As I was laying it down, all of a sudden I heard it go 'thunk!' as it came loose," he told KDKA. "I thought, well, that’s not a real problem. You know, it’s still going to go off. And it did."

Governor Larry Hogan Addresses Cyber Industry Leaders at Houses of Parliament

Promotes Economic Development, Enhanced Trade Between Cybersecurity Hubs in MD, UK

ANNAPOLIS, MD -
Governor Larry Hogan today addressed cyber industry leaders of the United Kingdom at the Houses of Parliament in London. His visit is part of a week-long economic development and trade mission to Europe, where he is leading a delegation including representatives from the Maryland Department of Commerce. Joining the governor for his address to business leaders were Member of Parliament James Morris, Midlands Engine Chairman Sir John Peace, Professor Keith Mayes of the Royal Holloway University of London, and U.S. Embassy Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs John Simmons.

In his remarks, the governor promoted Maryland’s unique position as a premier location for international cybersecurity companies seeking to establish or grow their presence in the United States, extolling the state’s highly-acclaimed skilled workforce and already robust cyber sector.

"When it comes to the rapidly growing cybersecurity industry, Maryland is the cyber capital of America. Nearly all of the cyber-related federal government agencies and military installations in the United States are located in Maryland," said Governor Hogan. "We are home to a world-class academic community - we have the highest concentration of doctoral scientists and engineers in America, and we are second among all 50 states for concentration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics employment. Our state is home to 17 universities and colleges that are designated as National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, which is more than any other state in the U.S.

Democrats Block Witnesses from Testifying in House Intel Probe

House Democrats are continuing to block testimony from about a dozen witnesses who sought to appear before the intelligence oversight panel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Congressional officials said one of the key witnesses, former informal adviser to the Trump campaign Carter Page, was scheduled to testify at a closed hearing of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

But Democrats on the committee blocked the testimony, asserting they needed more time to prepare.

Trump celebrates after Republican special election wins

Donald Trump has heaped praise on Republican Karen Handel after she won a special election runoff in Georgia, and celebrated a string of GOP wins.

The president fired off a flurry of tweets on Tuesday night after Handel defeated her upstart Democratic challenge Jon Ossoff 52-48.

The margin was much lower than when Trumps' Secretary for Health and Human Services Tom Price won the 6th District last year, when he was re-elected with a 24 point buffer.

'Congratulations to Karen Handel on her big win in Georgia 6th. Fantastic job, we are all very proud of you!' he tweeted after the result was confirmed.

Earlier, he wrote, 'Things are looking great for Karen H!' and: 'Thank you @FoxNews "Huge win for President Trump and GOP in Georgia Congressional Special Election."'

UPDATED: Diakonia Plans To Build Affordable Housing Project

SNOW HILL – County officials approved a text amendment this week that will allow Diakonia to establish a new facility on Route 611 in West Ocean City.

On Tuesday the Worcester County Commissioners approved an amendment to allow supported living facilities in the C-2 commercial district. Supporters of Diakonia, several of whom attended to show support for the change, said it would enable the shelter to increase its services.

“There is way more need out there now than we can facilitate and help in our present location,” said Allyson Bernard-Church, president of Diakonia’s board of directors.

According to Ed Tudor, the county’s director of development review and permitting, the text amendment will allow two-family and multi-family dwellings utilized as a shelter by nonprofit educational philanthropic organizations in the C-2 general commercial district. It also establishes parking requirements for those dwellings.

Subject: Jon Ossoff's $23 Million Loss Shows Dems Have No Idea How to Win in the Age of Trump

SANDY SPRINGS, Georgia—After $50 million and a congressional contest bigger than some presidential primaries, the special election in Georgia’s 6th District to replace Rep. Tom Price ended up where it began, with the House seat still in Republican hands and national Democrats still looking for a way to turn the resistance to Donald Trump into a victory at the polls.

With 81 percent reporting, former Secretary of State Karen Handel defeated Democrat Jon Ossoff 52.5 percent to 47.5 percent.
From the moment Price announced he was leaving the seat to become President Donald Trump’s secretary of health and human services, the race to replace him was a highly nationalized, money-soaked brawl—a referendum, especially for Democrats, on the president in an affluent suburban Atlanta district he’d barely won in November.

“Operation Broken Heart” Yields 35 Arrests In Maryland

Maryland State Police Investigators Arrest 11 In Two Month Initiative

(Columbia, MD) Maryland’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force yields 35 arrests in Maryland, 11 of which were arrested by Maryland State Police investigators, while participating in “Operation Broken Heart,” a nationwide, two-month initiative targeting offenders of child sexual exploitation.

The Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) was one of 61 task forces included in “Operation Broken Heart IV”, a two-month initiative. Members from the Maryland ICAC worked tirelessly throughout April and May, initiating 314 investigations. Investigators executed 75 search warrants with 35 arrests. There were also public outreach sessions, which reached over 400 people.

The coordinated effort by law enforcement represents more than 3,000 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies with the purpose of arresting child predators, along with internet safety education and outreach. During the National Operation, investigators educated over 99,000 individuals during 1,245 educational programs across the country.

The Maryland ICAC Task Force is comprised of police agencies statewide. They concentrated on those offenders who possess, manufacture, and distribute child pornography and who engage in online enticement of children for sexual purposes. They also targeted crimes including child prostitution and human trafficking.

The Task Force’s primary mission continues to be to protect children from computer-facilitated sexual exploitation. This goal is achieved by cooperation between law enforcement agencies and prosecutors as they combine resources to combat these crimes. Additionally, the Task Force also provides community awareness campaigns helping to prevent the spread of these crimes through education.

OCEAN CITY -- A 24-year-old Pennsylvania man is in critical condition Thursday night after being found floating in the bay earlier in the day by citizens.
According to Ocean City Police Department Public Information Officer Lyndsay Richards, at approximately 10:50 a.m. Thursday, June 22, authorities were alerted to 14th Street and the bay for a report of an unconscious individual found in the bay by a passing vessel.
“Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim, a 24-year-old male of Hazelton, Pa., had dove from the bulkhead in to the bay,” Richards said. “Thanks to the efforts of several good Samaritans, the victim was brought onto a citizen’s boat and to a nearby pier to meet responding officers and paramedics.”
The victim, who has not been identified yet, was then transported by Ocean City EMS to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin. He was later flown by Maryland State Police Trooper 4 to Johns Hopkins Medical Campus where he is currently in critical condition.

Dad, beat baby girl into coma, said he wanted her aborted

A Brooklyn man who allegedly punched his 16-month-old daughter into a coma said he told the baby's mother to get an abortion when she was pregnant.

'Feel mad disrespected,' Shaquan Taylor, 19, wrote in a Facebook post in February 2016 around the time his daughter Nylah Lewis was born. 'Told that lil b***h to get abortion (and) she tells me she is but still keep it. Exactly why I hate that lil b***h.'

The child's injuries are so extreme that prosecutors said in court early Tuesday they don't expect her to live another 24 hours according to the New York Daily News.

Little Nylah was rushed to Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn on Sunday.

Study supports Trump: 5.7 million noncitizens may have cast illegal votes

A research group in New Jersey has taken a fresh look at postelection polling data and concluded that the number of noncitizens voting illegally in U.S. elections is likely far greater than previous estimates.

As many as 5.7 million noncitizens may have voted in the 2008 election, which put Barack Obama in the White House.

The research organization Just Facts, a widely cited, independent think tank led by self-described conservatives and libertarians, revealed its number-crunching in a report on national immigration.

Just Facts President James D. Agresti and his team looked at data from an extensive Harvard/YouGov study that every two years questions a sample size of tens of thousands of voters. Some acknowledge they are noncitizens and are thus ineligible to vote.

Dear Democrats / Media: ICYMI Last Night Was A Referendum On You, Not Trump

For months now the entire country has been forced to listen as Democrats and the media prematurely boasted about the Georgia special election being a 'yuge' referendum on the Trump administration. Guess what, it wasn't.

Democrats lost last night not because 'Russia' stole the election, not because it rained in Dekalb county and supressed the minority vote and not because Trump is doing an amazing job...Democrats lost again last night because Americans are sick and tired of mainstream, corrupt politicians, tired of the millions of dollars that flowed into Ossoff's bank accounts from San Francisco in an apparent attempt to buy a house seat and tired of the fake media narratives on Russian hacking.

What's more, Democrats lost despite playing all the games they always play to give themselves an edge. Democrats spent more money on this race than any in the history of congressional races, outspending Handel by a margin of 7-to-1...but it didn't matter.

Canadian man charged after possible terror attack at Michigan airport, FBI says

Canadian Amor Ftouhi has been charged in connection to a knife attack that left a police officer in critical condition, the FBI said Wednesday. The FBI said it is investigating the attack as an act of terrorism.

MONTREAL—A Montreal man accused in a vicious terror strike at the Flint, Mich., airport allegedly cited conflicts in the Middle East and Afghanistan as justification for his actions.

Though little is known about the background or motives of the alleged attacker, Amor M. Ftouhi, the incident appears to mimic the recent cluster of random and small-scale attacks that have plagued Europe in recent months.

But what may be more troubling is the likely stoking of Americans’ long-running security fears that could potentially end up stifling the flow of people and goods across the Canada-United States border.

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Ftouhi, 50, entered the U.S. from the Lac-Champlain border crossing south of Montreal on June 16 and spent five days in the country before entering Bishop International Airport in Flint Wednesday morning.

Susan Rice Unmasking Documents to Be 'Locked Up' in Obama Library for Next 5 Years

Content originally published at iBankCoin.com

Get in here deep staters and explain yourselves.

Do you remember when Rep. Nunes found out some information about the unmasking of key Trump personnel during and after the elections, which tossed former National Security Advisor, Susan Rice, on the barbie?

It was believed that Rice had some vital information that could shed some light on who Obama was spying on and why. The fact that Trump was, in fact, unmasked raised questions as to the veracity of the 'incidental' intelligence claims. Well, if you were hoping for Susan Rice to pay for her sins, exposing Obama to potential criminal charges for spying on Trump -- too bad fuckers -- that's not going to happen.

See, the information is now locked up in the Obama library and will not be released for another 5 years. Why is this the case? No one really knows, other than the fact that it's in there and it is impossible to get out.

Judicial Watch is going apeshit over this.

Prof Who Made Belligerent Appearance On TV Suspended

A former professor at Essex County College was indefinitely suspended two days after her heated appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Lisa Durden was told that she had to cancel her classes and report to Essex County College’s human resources department two days after a June 6 appearance on the prime time Fox News show. School officials then indefinitely suspended her.

“They did this to humiliate me,” Durden told The Star-Ledger. “Essex County College publicly lynched me in front of my students.”

Durden went off on the show in defense of a black-only Memorial Day party organized by Black Lives Matter, dodging a direct question from Carlson on whether it’s okay to exclude people based on race.

“I thought the whole point of Black Lives Matter, or one of the points, would be to speak out against singling people out on the basis of their race and punishing them for that because you can’t control what your race is, and yet they seem to be doing that, explain that to me,” Tucker said.

11 indicted for laundering $40 million in Atlanta-area drug proceeds

ATLANTA – Eleven individuals were charged Wednesday with laundering more than $40 million in drug proceeds back to Mexico through Atlanta-area money remitters following a three-year criminal investigation led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the IRS.
According to court documents, in 2014, HSI Atlanta special agents began investigating individuals across the Atlanta area that were suspected of using money-broker businesses to launder drug proceeds from the United States back to Mexico by breaking up large amounts of cash into smaller transactions, and using false names and addresses in an attempt to disguise the electronic transfers as remittances.
These small money-broker businesses allow customers to wire funds to individuals in other countries without using traditional bank accounts and are commonly used by foreign nationals to send money to family and friends across the border.

Texas Couple Exonerated 25 Years After Being Convicted of Lurid Crimes That Never Happened

TWENTY-FIVE YEARS after they were convicted of a crime that never happened, Fran and Dan Keller were formally exonerated on June 20 in Austin, Texas.

The couple’s prosecution in 1992 was part of a wave of cases across the country amid an episode of mass hysteria known as the Satanic Panic. Beginning in the 1980s, accusations flew that the childcare industry had been infiltrated by bands of Satanists hell-bent on brainwashing and sexually abusing young children. The Kellers’ exoneration closes a decadeslong chapter of profound injustice for a couple that paid an exceptionally high price for the credulousness of local law enforcement.

“I still can’t believe it’s happening,” Fran, now 67, said on Tuesday morning while driving with her husband to sign the legal paperwork. She’s still wary; they’ve been waiting for this day for so long she isn’t yet sure it is real. “I guess I’m just tired of having to hang on for so long.”

Democrats dumped most of their money into Georgia's record-breaking special election. Despite this, Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff ended up losing the election by a wider margin than the Democratic candidate in South Carolina, whose election took place on the same day.

Here is a breakdown of the money that Democrats have spent on every special election that they have lost..

A firm started by former insiders for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) hauled in millions of dollars from the failed campaign of Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff, Federal Election Commission records show.

Ossoff's campaign pulled in more than $23 million in contributions during the record-breaking special election in Georgia's sixth congressional district. The campaign disbursed $22.5 million and had $1 million left on hand at the time of its latest filings to the FEC.

The astronomical expenditures from the Ossoff campaign turned into a bonanza for a firm that was launched by veterans of the DCCC.

Consumer advocacy groups protest CareFirst rate increase proposal

More than three dozen organizations are calling on Maryland's insurance regulator to reject big rate increases proposed by the state's dominant carrier, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, for plans sold to individuals on the exchange created by the Affordable Care Act.

CareFirst asked the Maryland Insurance Administration for average premium increases of 52 percent in 2018, far more than three other insurers on the exchange.

The organizations, led by the advocacy group Consumer Health First, called the proposed increases "stunning," and unaffordable for many. The organizations, which also include other patient advocacy groups and professional organizations, believe such rate hikes could potentially destabilize the marketplace. An analysis by Consumer Health First challenges the carrier's assumptions about the level of enrollee illness and costs.

In response, Chet Burell, president and CEO of CareFirst, acknowledged the proposed increases were large but said the carrier estimates it will have lost $600 million in the four years since it began selling plans under the law, known as Obamacare.

There is no challenge to Pelosi’s leadership, and none is going to happen at this point, said numerous Democrats. But it’s clear frustration is growing with the longtime Democratic leader following the extensive losses Democrats have suffered over the past half-decade.

A Bunch Of CIA Staff Got Fired For Stealing Snacks From Vending Machines

The group of employees shared a vending machine hack to steal more than $3,000 in snacks.

Several CIA contractors were kicked out of the agency for stealing more than $3,000 in snacks from vending machines, according to official documents newly obtained by BuzzFeed News.

The thefts took place starting in the fall of 2012 and continued through March 2013, according to a declassified Office of Inspector General report from October 2013. The report is one of hundreds only recently released to BuzzFeed News through a Freedom Of Information Act lawsuit filed in 2015.

The "theft scheme" involved unplugging a cable connecting the machines to an electronic payment system called FreedomPay, and then using "unfunded FreedomPay cards" to buy the snacks at no cost.

After being informed of the thefts, the OIG installed "surveillance cameras at several key vending locations where a high occurrence of thefts were taking place," according to the report.

"Video footage recovered from the surveillance cameras captured numerous perpetrators engaged in the FreedomPay theft scheme, all of whom were readily identifiable as Agency contract personnel," the report states.

Democrats Post Worst Fundraising Numbers in Month of May Since 2003

The Democratic National Committee raised only $4.29 million in May, the organization's worst fundraising performance in that month since 2003, according to data from the Federal Election Commission.

In May 2003, the DNC raised $2.7 million, but since that time, the party's worst totals in May had previously been $4.5 million in both 2005 and 2015. It is common for fundraising totals to dip in the year following a presidential election race.

This comes one month after the DNC posted its worst April in terms of fundraising since 2009, hauling in just $4.7 million. That meant the Democrats' fundraising total dipped more than $400,000 from April to May.

LISTEN to Megyn Kelly audio leak: “I knew it was a fraud!” [AUDIO]

by Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

I’m so not surprised by this. Alex Jones clandestinely recorded Megyn Kelly during his pre-interview with her. She just doesn’t get that she was being set up by this charlatan. Jones claims that he knew it was all a lie and a fraud. Of that I have no doubt… he’s paranoid and doesn’t trust anyone. In this case, he may have been right. I’m sure this violates agreements with NBC and that Alex Jones will wind up back in court over this.

In the meantime, Megyn Kelly’s ratings have massively cratered. No one wants to put the parents of the kids who died at Sandy Hook through an interview with a madman who claims it was all a hoax. It rips their hearts out. The guy is insane and everyone knows it. Kelly has a First Amendment right to interview whomever she wants… but why in the world would you give credibility to someone like Alex Jones? You simply make him money and push the fact that somehow he has a point. Excuse me, I think the whole human-fish hybrid nonsense is just crackers. Giving airtime to that is nothing but sensationalism and tawdry.

DC Polling Expert took this question to one of his focus groups and here's the real sentiment for most Americans about Trump and the whole Russian extravaganza.

Hannity: A ‘soft coup’ is unfolding against Trump

Conservative political commentator Sean Hannity claimed Tuesday that Obama administration holdovers and members of the media are contributing to a “soft coup” being waged against President Trump.

“A soft coup is underway right here in the United States of America in an attempt to overturn November’s election results and forcibly remove a duly elected president from office — sinister forces quickly aligning in what is becoming now, in my mind, a clear and present danger,” Mr. Hannity said near the start of his Fox News program Tuesday evening.

“Here in America, we are at a turning point tonight with forces now forming an alliance to try and remove President Trump from office. It’s that serious,” he continued.

The “Hannity” host followed up the claim by listing several factors he believes are contributing to the supposed coup, among them Obama administration holdovers; “left-wing ideologues” employed by what Mr. Hannity called the “Destroy Trump Media”; and Robert Mueller III, the special counsel recently appointed by the Justice Department to investigate criminal allegations involving the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

“This effort to override the will of the American people, change the results of a presidential election, is now creating a national security crisis,” he said.

Prominent Democrat Leader’s RACIST Comments Go Public

Wow. It looks like Florida Democratic Party chairman Stephen Bittel has really stepped in it this time. He made a number of comments to the legislative black caucus that were perceived as racist. This started at a fundraiser. Bittel edited and cut short a program that stated legislators should be recognized. When said legislators got upset, Bittel called them ‘childish’. He also said that State Sen. Oscar Braynon (D.) was acting like a three year-old. Braynon is black. Oh boy. State Sen. Lauren Book (D.) questioned Bittel on the exchange. “They’re like children, these black lawmakers. They just don’t get it,” Bittel said. “I raised more money in this amount of time than they ever could.”

Now, that’s rude, but how is that racist? Then Bittel accused the African-American lawmakers of “playing the race card” once they took offense to his statements. He may not have been acting racist, but he sure had a lock on moronic. “I have much to learn and I am committed to being better and learning from this mistake. I sincerely apologize,” Bittel said in a written statement to Politico. Uh yeah… it’s a little too little, a little late for that apology. Bittel is now saying he may resign and that suddenly has become a real possibility.

OC: Cop Nearly Shoots Suspect For Charging Him With Knife

OCEAN CITY — A Baltimore man was arrested on first-degree assault after allegedly pulling a switchblade on an Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) officer and continuing to come toward him to the point the officer had to threaten to shoot him.

Around 12:30 p.m. last Saturday, an OCPD officer was working in a covert capacity around 3rd Street and Baltimore Avenue searching with other officers for a robbery suspect. The OCPD officers observed a group of about eight males standing on the sidewalk on 3rd Street outside City Hall. As the officers approached, the group of about eight males abruptly split in several directions and began to run away from the area. According to police reports, the officers observed frightened expressions on the faces of at least two of the males.

The OCPD officer exited the unmarked patrol vehicle and began to approach the bushes on the south side of City Hall to see if any of the suspects who had fled were hiding there. As the officer stepped out of the street and onto the sidewalk, he noticed a male suspect, later identified as Jordan Kuzma, 19, of Baltimore, lurking on the sidewalk about 20 feet away from the officer.

After Jon Ossoff’s DEFEAT, Democrats Conclude To Stop Losing, They Must Go FURTHER LEFT

I was beyond thrilled last night when Karen Handel beat John Ossoff Georgia’s 6th congressional district. The Democrats broke a new record there and spent over $25 million trying to get a Pajama Boy elected that didn’t even live in that district. It backfired. So, instead of examining their message to see what went wrong, the Democrats in their rabid insanity have decided to lurch even further left. That’s right… embrace the violent radicalism threatening to eat them whole.

The Democrats are now actively rejecting calls for civility. This isn’t going to end well. Nope. Handel effectively tied Ossoff to Nancy Pelosi and the voters collectively puked over that alliance. So, it’s an image problem. But on the civility issue, a Bernie Sanders acolyte just tried to assassinate Republicans at a baseball practice… you would think that would give them pause before going the ‘uncivil’ route, but no.

Planned Parenthood spent $734,000 in failed Georgia race

Jon Ossoff lost the House race in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District despite receiving nearly three-quarters of a million dollars from the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

With $734,000 in campaign contributions, the abortion giant was the second-biggest spender on the Democratic side of the ledger — only trailing the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which poured $4.9 million into the race.

Mr. Ossoff raised a historic $23 million to try to pick off the seat vacated by former Rep. Tom Price, who was appointed to head the Department of Health and Human Services by President Trump.

Hospital: Scalise Upgraded to Fair Condition

The Republican congressman shot last week at a baseball practice is making good progress and has been upgraded to fair condition.

That's the word from MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The hospital issued a statement on Wednesday saying Rep. Steve Scalise, 51, of Louisiana is "beginning an extended period of healing and rehabilitation."

The Heterophobic Gender Deniers

Disgruntled liberal protagonists, short on substance for their arguments, often resort to denigrating their opponents with labels. For example, if you disagree with their “Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender” agenda, you’re “homophobic.” And if you disagree with theirstatist climate agenda you’re a “science denier.”

There are strong meritorious arguments opposing both these leftist orthodoxies, but allow me a bit of acerbic sarcasm to return fire, and label those promoting the LGBT agenda as “heterophobic gender deniers.” June, after all, is “LGBT Pride Month,” which means plenty of celebrations in the theater of the absurd. (Heterophobic: Fear of Diversity)

But before addressing those gay merriments, allow me also, by way of disclaimer, to submit that what follows is not a “conservative” or “religious” perspective on sexuality. In fact, I believe the private affairs of consenting adults, however sordid, are their business — until they attempt to normalize and nationalize them.

Ron Paul Interviews Snowden On The "Rise Of The Deep State"

In a discussion with Edward Snowden on his weekly “Liberty Report," Ron Paul and the former NSA contractor trace the genesis of the so-called Deep State, and discuss how the US intelligence community uses covert programs like those exposed by Snowden in 2013 to trample individual freedoms.

The most sinister quality of the Deep State, Snowden says, is its ability to mask its very existence from the public, allowing it to undermine President Donald Trump while remaining largely hidden from scrutiny.

“Generally, when we’re talking about the Deep State, what we’re talking about is a mass of government that survives beyond administrations, but that is not responding to the politics of the people. This belongs not to a particular political party, but it serves across parties. Across administrations.”

The Deep State’s culture of secrecy convinces employees that they won’t ever be held accountable for their actions, Snowden said, since even routine communications between employees at the CIA and NSA are classified.

Yuge GOP Turnout Doomed Democrat in Georgia

A high turnout of Republican voters is believed to have boosted Karen Handel to victory in Georgia's special election Tuesday.

Democrat Jon Ossoff was favored in most polls entering the election that determined who would replace former Rep. Tom Price, who now serves as heath and human services secretary. According to Politico, Ossoff's defeat came down to numbers on the Republican side.

More than 259,000 votes had been counted as of Wednesday afternoon, a high number for a special election..

Playtime is Over: Team Trump Scraps Absurd EPA Employee Benefit

The Environmental Protection Agency is scrapping the agency's nearly $1 million in gym memberships as an abuse of taxpayer funds.

"We have ended taxpayer-funded fitness centers at EPA; a program that was costing American taxpayers $900,000 per year," said EPA spokesperson Jahan Wilcox. "Disinvestment in using federal funds for EPA fitness centers will allow the agency to invest this money in core activities to protect the environment."

The Washington Free Beacon first reported the decision on Monday. EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt vowed to get rid of the gym memberships after the newspaper reported earlier this year that the agency had paid $15,000 per year for employees in Las Vegas to upgrade to premium fitness memberships at 24 Hour Fitness. This was done even though the employees already had complimentary gym memberships at the University of Nevada's campus in Las Vegas.

Good riddance to the Russia myth — and blame Team Obama for promoting it

Ex-Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson’s testimony Wednesday should mark the definitive end of “Russia hacked the election” hysteria. Too bad it took so long to get to this point.

Johnson told the House Intelligence Committeeoutright that the Russians failed to alter “ballots, ballot counts or reporting of election results.”

Yes, it’s clear Russia (with Vladimir Putin’s full approval) orchestrated cyberattacks designed to influence the 2016 contest, and also pushed fake news.

But the hack, and release via WikiLeaks, etc., of Democratic e-mails produced nothing game-changing. The biggest impact was to confirm the obvious: The Democratic National Committee favored Hillary Clinton from the start.

And fake news mainly feeds people’s existing prejudices — which serves Putin’s goal of undermining our democracy, but fails to flip votes from one party to the other.

Delaware Governor Signs Gender Pay Gap Law

Delaware Gov. John Carney, a Democrat, has signed a new law prohibiting prospective employers from asking job applicants about their salary history.

The law also bars employers from screening applicants based on their previous compensation.

In the absence of legislation from the U.S. Congress, governors in California, Connecticut, Illinois, New York, North Dakota and Oregon have signed equal pay lawsin recent years.

The latest move to outlaw disparate pay arrives as new studies indicate that Americanwomen earn 80 percent of what men earn doing comparable work.

Pollsters and Consultants ‘Have Learned Nothing’ from the ‘Disaster Last Year’

Democrat pollster and analyst Pat Caddell talked with Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM host Alex Marlow on Wednesday regarding the Karen Handel vs. Jon Ossoff results in the GA 6th district race and if they might be an omen for 2018.

Caddell said he thought the loss was “devastating” for the Democrats “because they invested so much.” He also said he thinks Republicans “dodged a bullet,” given what the implications of a loss would have been.

As for consultants and pollsters, said Caddell, “These pollsters have learned nothing, … nothing from a disaster last year. They are alchemists, they are not scientists.."

Using Special Nails to Save Roofs — and Dollars

MOBILE, Ala. — New roofs are coming to Africatown, a hamlet of crumbling shotgun houses amid ancient pecan trees northwest of Mobile Bay.

The replacements, many of which will go to the neighborhood’s poor and aging homeowners, are being paid for by a first-of-its-kind state grant program that aims to lower homeowners’ insurance rates and reinforce Alabama homes against future windstorms.

Alabama officials, like state and local leaders around the country, expect disaster recovery costs to continue to grow as people live in vulnerable areas and climate change increases the frequency and intensity of natural disasters. At the same time, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is considering a plan that would shift more recovery costs to the states.

In response, some states are taking steps to ensure that communities can better survive disasters, efforts they hope will lower recovery costs down the line.

Alzheimer's: Extra virgin olive oil staves off disease, new study shows

Temple University research shows extra-virgin olive oil protects against memory loss, preserves the ability to learn and reduces conditions associated with Alzheimer's disease.

Researchers at the college's Lewis Katz School of Medicine found mice with EVOO-enriched diets had better memories and learning abilities compared to the rodents who didn't eat the oil.

The real effect of EVOO appeared in the inner-workings of the mice's brains. Neuron connections in the brain were better preserved in those on an EVOO diet.

Also, olive oil reduces brain inflammation and activates the autophagy process, whereby intracellular debris and toxins are removed. Such debris and toxins are firm markers of Alzheimer's disease. A reduction in autophagy, researchers claim, is suspected to be the beginning of Alzheimer's disease.

Let's Find Rex

My name is Anai Montero. On June 19 at 5pm I was in a car crash in Berlin, Maryland. My dog was ejected from my vehicle and took off running. Please see post link above. A woman and her daughter told me she saw my dog all the way in Salisbury on June 19 around 7pm on a highway and that many other cars also pulled over to help catch him. Please, I have been looking through woods day and night in Berlin with the whole community looking for Rex. I do not know if he was injured in the crash. I have only been concentrating the search in Berlin. Will you please help me spread the word in Salisbury? I am hoping others who pulled over on the highway can confirm if it was him or not. Please help!!!!!!!

Sincerely,

Scientists Want You To Do Everyone A Favor And Eat These Crabs

There’s a certain type of crab that’s eating up more desirable seafood off the New England coast. The crab’s population could be thinned if commercial fishing operations harvested the darn things, but there’s no money in it. The solution? Figure out a way to make people want these crabs on their dinner plates.

Chicken May Get More Expensive Because Birds Are Too Old And Fat To Breed

Years of very precise breeding means that modern poultry grow to massive sizes very quickly — sometimes in a matter of weeks. While this results in more meat in less time, it’s also causing a problem: Some birds are so top-heavy that they may not be all that interested in breeding, and there’s now an older breeding population of roosters and hens that are less likely to produce viable eggs.
