Vandalism On Pennsylvania Ave In Salisbury

Now YOU look at the third photo and tell me if that's NOT attempted break-in and entering? The Salisbury Police want you to believe that's vandalism instead.

!!!!!MAJOR BREAKING NEWS AGAIN!!!!!

A Wicomico County Sheriff's Deputy has been arrested for Child Abuse and several Sexual Offenses on Minor Children.

The Officer was arrested today while attempting to pick up his own child at School. The Sheriff's Department wasted no time making sure there was an immediate separation of the two as soon as possible.

The Officer has been suspended without pay since it is a Federal Offense. ALL of his Police powers have been suspended as well.

At the Sheriff's request, he has asked the State Police to assist the C.A.C. (Child advocacy Center) in this investigation.

Vandalism On Virginia Ave & Pennsylvania Ave!

The vandalism wasn't just on Pennsylvania Ave. today. It also spread out to surrounding blocks including Virginia Ave. At least 12 vehicles had all their tires slashed on one block alone and one home had planters thrown through the windows. The Police refused to write that us as an attempted breaking and entering and instead called it vandalism. Want those numbers in certain categories down Chiefy? The Police admitted there were far more than the 12 vehicles vandalized on other surrounding streets.

Nevertheless, pictures will be coming soon. So to the Idiot who keeps sending in comments stating I am wrong, BITE ME! Must be The Daily Times because they never caught on to the story in the first place. LOL

Gilchrest To Host PAC Luncheon After Claiming To Not Take PAC Money

Gilchrest claims on his website that he does not accept PAC contributions, but now that he faces a serious primary challenge, he is soliciting them. This proves once again that Wayne has Changed!!!

See some of Wayne's Quotes and articles written about him not accepting PAC money below:

"I know special interest groups don't like me very much and are helping to fund my opponent's campaign. That's because I don't take PAC money and my vote can't be bought. I only accept contributions from people who can vote for me, and I wish every member of Congress subscribed to that." (Salisbury Daily Times, letter-to-the-editor, p. 6; 8/25/02)

The majority of invitations come from Political Action Committees. Gilchrest is one of about 10 congressmen who do not take money from these committees. (...) He also does not accept money from outside his d istrict, including from out-of-district relatives. "It's a huge commitment that is required if you want to accept PAC money," Gilchrest said. "It gives me a lot more time (to spend) on legislation." (Caroline County Times Record, pg. 5; 2/10/00)

(Democrat) Gies has very little money to try to defeat Gilchrest (...). The result is Gilchrest is in such a secure position he has been able to take a position virtually unheard of in modern politics. He is not taking any contributions from political action committees or from anybody who lives outside the 1st District. (Salisbury Daily Times, p. 4; 10/26/94)

Citing as his theme a "return to honesty and integrity in government service," Gilchrest expressed confidence that enough Democrats would cross over to elect him. (Star Democrat, pg. 1; 10/12/88)

Gilchrest said, however, he believes PAC contributions should be prohibited because they "unduly influence" politicians. (Salisbury Daily Times , p. 3; 10/17/88)

Gilchrest's Website: http://www.gilchrest.org/makeadonation.htm
The website is saved as an attachment to this email as well.

Wayne has Changed!

There is nothing wrong with candidates accepting PAC money from groups they agree with; however to tell the voters you won't accept them while quietly soliciting money from them is just plain wrong. The voters deserve better.

The Pocomoke/Fire Fighters Christmas Parade?

Wednesday night I was invited by the Pocomoke Tattler to visit him at his home and enjoy the Pocomoke Parade. It was such a pleasure to finally meet them in person and enjoying an evening of food and entertainment.

I've held off this Post because it has taken me a couple of days to go through all the pictures I took of just the Fire Departments alone in this Parade! Talk about your tax dollars hard at work! I'm telling you, there were Fire Departments from Virginia, Delaware and Maryland and the smell of diesel fuel was enough to choke King Kong!

Nevertheless, one after the other, Fire Trucks passed by, then a Marching Band every so often, interrupted by yet more LED Lights from Emergency Vehicles and then something cool would come along.

It started at 7:00 PM and went all the way to 9:30 PM. Don't they have something for these Fire Fighters to get their rocks off in Ocean City every year? I mean, this was unbelievable. Now look, I'm NOT against Fire Fighters and I know I'll get beat up over that one. However, COME ON NOW! This has got to be the biggest crock of shit I have ever seen in my entire lifetime!

2 1/2 hours of Fire Trucks, WHOOPIE! YAHOO! OH, MY NIPPLES ARE HARD! THIS IS SO EXCITING! OH LOOK MOM, THEY COME IN RED AND GREEN COLORS! If Pocomoke wants to sport THEIR Fire Trucks, I'm ALL for that. However, are you getting the idea it was too much? LOL

I'm so thankful the company was so great because I couldn't see didley for an hour after the Parade because of all those stupid led lights! Let me see if I have any normal pictures from this Parade besides Fire Trucks!

My sincere Thanks goes out to the Burke Family. Merry Christmas!

The Park On The West Side

Last night was an interesting evening of Politics & Concerned Citizens getting together for what would appear to be about the people.

However, it is my opinion after spending hours listening the almost everyone there speak, this is not the location I would recommend a Park be located. Allow me to explain why.

First of all, I trust Rick Pollitt. However, being that I have seen so much crap through the Mayor of Salisbury and the majority of the City Council, it's very easy for me to be skeptical.

When Rick started the meeting he mentioned there was a process. The County was not going to purchase this land if the Citizens didn't think it was the right place for such a Park. Rick also mentioned that IF they were to purchase the property, they would not develop the Park until ALL of the road infrastructure was complete first. Does anyone have a clue the millions upon millions of dollars it would cost just to upgrade those roads to accomodate such a facility?

What that says to me is, let's buy it just like all the other land we have purchased in the past and sit on it, (That may not be a bad idea either). Some properties are now being considered to dump sludge on because it wasn't the kind of land the County expected it to be in the end. Another piece of property, (Pirates Wharf) the County purchased has sat for 10 years now and Gary Mackeys stated 9 months out of the year the property is almost knee deep in water.

Now can someone please tell me how in the heck the County purchased such land in the first place? Secondly, how confident can the Taxpayers be if the County didn't research such property well enough to know it was wetlands most of the year?

Nevertheless, far too many people stood up against this Park and they had excellent reasons for why they didn't want it. One Citizen stated, we moved out here into the country because we wanted to get away from City life. We moved here to get away from the Parks and now you're shoving it down our throats? Another Citizen stated, we don't burden this area with a multitude of children for such a Park here.

Some Citizens complained a lot about the current road conditions and how there's no possible way the adults and or children could even ride biked down their roads. It sounded as if these people need help now, let alone when a Park would come to their area.

There were some who came stating they were in favor of such a Park. One of them, Anne Webster, President of the Hotel/Motel Assoc. strongly encouraged the economic impact from such attractions. Tom Fields lives right across the street from the proposed Park and stated he'd rather see a Park there than a housing development.

As for the appraisal, the County claims the two appraisals that did in fact come in were LOWER than what they had expected it to be. So the rumor of this costing $35,000.00 an acre could be far fetched. Then again, sometimes rumors get spread like this so when the REAL numbers come in, the Citizens think it's a bargain?

I personally like the Waller Landing idea better. Granted, it's a few miles from this location but like I said, it's a planned community in which people are going to know what they're getting into, rather than disturbing those people who moved to the country to enjoy the peace and quiet. I need to add, NO ONE has come forward with a piece of property for sale on the west side that would accommodate such a Park, period. That does make this an attractive piece of land but is it the right land for such a Park?

The County Council will have their hands full on this one. 4 out of the 7 County Council Members were there last night to hear every one's support and or concerns.

I'd like to add this final note. I moved to Bowie, Maryland in 1973. I watched that Town go from fields like we see around here now to an absolute Metropolis! People may complain about PG County and even Bowie but let me tell you something Bowie did some 35 years ago. Bowie had a Master Plan in which they created the most unbelievable Bike & Hikers Trail like you've NEVER seen before. The crap Comegys spews all the time about Bike Trails/Routes throughout Salisbury is NOT what it's supposed to be.

Bowie create trails around the entire City and through the entire City. I'm talking, (and I'm guessing) 10 miles of bike trails? It was NOT done on the side of roads already in existence. These were strictly for bikes, hikers, joggers, walkers, skateboarders, roller bladers and so forth and so on. It is a black top trail that just goes on and on throughout Bowie and now other Towns.

This is a model in which "I" personally believe should be considered from this point forward here on the Eastern Shore. Hebron would make a perfect start. Plan ALL communities whereas you can create a safe environment for everyone to enjoy. I know if this was available in Hebron, I'd bring my Grandson there regularly to enjoy a safe riding experience like Bowie has to offer.

Much of this could be funded by developers interested in building in Wicomico County. However, a Master Plan of a Trail like this must be looked at NOW, before things get too far out of control growth wise. If BOWIE could do it 35 years ago, Wicomico County could do it now before things do pop up too fast. I also believe property owners would be willing to donate small parts of their property to allow such trails to pass through. If you travel towards the Western Shore, even Kent Island and other surrounding Towns have trails right along Rt. 50. They're beautiful and some of the best entertainment around.

I'm sorry I went on so long about this but even though I come from the Western Shore, some times we COME HERE'S can enhance better living and yes, even cleaner living. More bikes create cleaner air and less use of fuel. Start working on a Master Plan for such, it can't hurt!

Keep in mind, this is just my oinion and I look forward to hearing what everyone has to say. That's what makes this Blog so cool. Agree with me or disagee with me, the end result is who wants what and perhaps the County can follow the comments made here to help them make a final decision.

Jenna Hermann & Sex Abuse Charges At Pittsville Elementary

Letter To The Editor:

Joe:

Please feel free to inquire about this information but my sources have shared this information with me regarding the incident at Pittsville this week.

The SU student involved is not considered a "teacher's assistant" as was shared in the paper, news, and on your blog. Yes, she did "assist" in the classroom but many people may be confused because the WCBOE employs many staff under the title "teacher's assistant". These staff members are full time benefitted employees who have met all of the legal qualifications set forth by the state and WCBOE. The two should not be confused.

The SU student is considered a "Block C" student as determined by the education dept. at SU. This means that she spends 1 full day per week in the school to observe a teacher and teaches a few lessons in preparation for student teaching the following semester. She has gone through Block A and Block B where they just observe teachers and begin to spend time in schools. This usually begins their first year in the education dept. Block C students are nearing their end of their degree and usually just have to student teach.

In times when the education systems across the US have unfortunate situations like this occur, this is one instance where the local school system could do little to prevent it. SU is accountable for its students but in this case, it is hard to prevent unless previous situations occurred at other schools. From what I have been told, background checks are not done for prospective teaching candidates at the university. Not sure of the legalities of this but maybe this should be done. This may or may not have prevented this unfortunate event.

As always, you provide a great service to the public and I am sure that this information will never be found in the "mainstream media". Please feel free to share.

Major Shooting At T's Market In Salisbury Last Night

No, there's nothing about this in The Daily Times, as usual. However, WMDT was there and covered it HERE.

I'm told one of the Clerks was shot in the chest and of course I get very little information from the SPD on this shooting.

Here's what I did get from the SPD Website. 11/29/2007 21:13 400 N Salisbury Bv Robbery: Firearm, Chain 200700040141 Under Invst

Horror & Vandalism On Pennsylvania Ave. In Salisbury!

If you live on Pennsylvania Ave. in the City of Salisbury, I feel for you! What you're NOT seeing anywhere else is the fact that almost every single vehicle along Pennsylvania Ave had their tires slashed. One owner has a convertible Porsche had his roof cut to bits as well. Trailer tires were slashed and items were even thrown through windows along this road.

I'm hoping to provide photos later today, we'll see what happens? Nevertheless, crime is just out of control in Salisbury Ladies & Gentlemen. I mean, think about it. Graffiti Artists vandalized buildings for MONTHS and no one was caught.

In Delmar, if my dogs don't get you, well................

More Like, Royal Flush, Down The Drain!

Currently there are For Sale Signs on this property along Rt. 50 and Royal Farms just can't seem to get it right with Wicomico County. IT reminds me of the work being done at the Salisbury Zoo. You know, the Red Wolf Exhibit. Perhaps it's the same Contractor? Then of course there's the Oasis Car Wash next to Sam's Club. Yeah, if you want to do business in Wicomico County, you better grease some palms or the waiting time is obviously much longer than anyone would ever expect.

You can build a $10,000,000.00 Fire Department in just over a year. You can build a massive addition at PRMC in just over a year. But what would seem the size of their bathrooms and NOT a FOB, YEARS! It must be those local Contractors getting their way and outsiders being put on the back burner? I mean, seriously, can you actually argue my point here?

Please Read Carefully Before Signing!

I usually don't pass along these "add your name" lists that appear in my email, but this one is too important. This one has been circulating for months and months and months.

Please do not delete ... if you don't want to sign, at least keep it going……..WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Why Is This Developers Hand Out To The County Executive?

Because he's from Waller Landing in Hebron and they'd do ANYTHING to have this Park relocated to their development and sell out a strong portion of their land to the County. Homes are NOT selling and landing a deal with the County would be the BOMB!

So why aren't you seeing this in the Daily Times? Because, (as usual) they show up too late and leave way too early. Just like their article today where they say "JC Webster who received a round of applause for his level headed rant against the project." Can someone out there explain to me what a "Level Headed Rant" is? (RANT) To talk in a wild loud way. "Webster Dictionary." So how can you be level headed and wild in the same breath?

Now I was there well before the DT and well after and I can assure you Ladies & Gentlemen, there was NO ONE ranting at all. There were quite a few concerned citizens who have a serious stake in this Community/Park. No one raised their voice and everyone was very respectable. No hecklers, right Rick?

Getting back to the topic of this particular subject. The Developers of Waller landing Changed the time of their meeting so they could run over and meet with Rick Pollit to pitch their project and location.

Rick explained how that location was not in the West Side Metro Core but they're open to all sorts of ideas. What's funny about that statement is, one of the gentlemen speaking last night showed on the photo he lived directly across the street from the proposed Park and his address is HEBRON!

I say, if the Park looks like it belongs in Waller Landing, consider it and create a very well planned out community with amenities, (like a Park) up front and everyone will know what they got into before Farmers and people who chose to live in the country wanted all along.

I'll get into that a bit more in another Post but you get the idea of where I'm going.

Today's Wildlife Photo

A Year Ago Today

A year ago, PRMC was just getting started on their massive addition to the Hospital. I wonder what the price tag to build that addition was?

Now Someone Is Screwing With My Identity

WorcesterRight has now promoted a My Space Ad created to be me. Interesting how he would know where the space is but once again the Anti Albero Blogs will do anything to slam me. GO HERE to see the ad.

Talk about a group of adults acting like babies. Oh, by the way, I'm not a Capricorn, I'm younger than 47 and I have no clue who Tom is. LOL

The Visitor Numbers Are Unreal!

I'd like to thank all the people visiting this Site on a daily basis. When you look around the Blogosphere and watch the comments everywhere, many of the other Blogs have 2 or 3 articles a day, max. Here at sbynews.com we have up to 20 in one day and the comments are spread throughout the Posts.

What many are not aware of is just how many are not posted. Ever since I went to moderation I have been bombarded with comments and many of them are very frustrated people. Here, use this one as an example. I received this just a little while ago and this should give you somewhat of an idea just how bad they get at times. Of course I'll clean it up a little bit.

"WHO GIVES A FU_K-
WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR HOME STATE!
YOUR A STUPID CHICKEN FU_KER!

BEEN AT THE REST STOP GETTING FU_KED IN YOUR A$$ YOU FAG!

I BET YOUR WIFE DOESNT FU_K YOU. SHE HAS BETTER TASTE!

POSTED WITH PURE GAY FU_KING LOVE FOR YOU!"

Now this is why I went to moderation. I get, oh, probably 50 to 100 of these a day, believe it or not. Believe me, if I could do this without moderation I'd love it because it takes a whole lot more time than you think. I have to read EVERY comment. Then accept or reject it and then the damn thing comes back again letting me know it went through! That means if I get 300 messages a day, many of them have to be processed twice.

So it's more work than many know but the end product is a far better Blog with all the Idiots removed. Anyhow, I hope everyone appreciates all the work going into it and again, thanks for all of you visiting each and every day as well as the support. It's a full time job, believe me.

Pipkin Greeted By Harris Supporters This Morning

As Pipkin entered the Chamber of Commerce he was immediately greeted by Andy Harris Supporters. I'll bet it felt a lot like walking into a room and all of a sudden your Ex Wife was standing there. SHIT! IMO, I'd say this is just the beginning of a difficult divorce. LOL

Here's What 1 Year & $10,000,000.00 Can Buy You!

It was a year ago the City of Salisbury broke ground and started their "Mormon Temple" Fire Station on the west side of Salisbury. Idiots!

By the way. Did all of you know they won't even have a Hall in this Station they can rent out like Pittsville and so many other Fire Stations that go through such an expense for their buildings? Unbelievable!

Andy Harris On Pipkin Entering The Race

"America is a free country and anyone can run for office. We are glad the only state senator not to endorse Andy finally realizes that Gilchrest should no longer be representing the first congressional district. However, Pipkin and Gilchrest are two tax-and-spend peas in a liberal pod. Andy Harris is the only person in this race who shares the conservative values of the first congressional district which is why he will win on February 12th."

PIPKIN MAKES IT OFFICIAL

For those on Blognetnews, there are more photos attached to article.

Pipkin announced this morning he will run for the 1st District Seat for Congress and join Andy Harris and Wayne Gilchrest who are obvious front runners.

Although the Pipkin Campaign stated they have three months to run this race, their math isn't all that great as they have just over 2 months to do so.

Just recently Pipkin realized that concerned Maryland Citizens reached out and asked him to run for Office and he has heard their cry. Pipkin was challenged by Mark McIver when he flat out stated Pipkin sounded like he was running on the exact same platform as the Harris Campaign.

Pipkin seemed to be agitated by that question and asked him what News Source he was from. Mark replied, I'm a taxpayer in Maryland stating how I feel and asking a simple question. Do you have anything else you're running on other than what Andy Harris is?

Pipkin stated the negative campaigning by Gilchrest & Harris is like an atomic bomb going off and he's going to change that. I'll have more to say on this Press Conference later today.

Rumor Has It Gilchrest Will Retire

Could the pressure be on with tomorrows announcement Pipkin will join the race that Gilchrest knows he can't win between Pipkin and Harris?

Red Maryland Blog thinks so. Or should I say, so he's been told? By whom, I wonder?

You Just Gotta Love Boss Hogg!

It's well past noon on day-7 of the 7-day ultimatum from Dr. Daffy of Boss Hogg's Pocomoke City.

FYI Dr Daffy is demanding through counsel, that we publish a 1/4-page ad in a local tabloid about her or she will file a lawsuit. No response from Dr Daffy or Mr Cornflakes on the proposed content so we are going to have a contest 'Can you read Dr Daffy's mind?' There are two (2) categories website apology and FOUR 1/4 page tabloid advertisements

Lets play 'Guess what Dr. Daffy want's us to print' because all her lawyer said was to secure competent representation because the Daffy Clock was ticking... In my response to Ernie Corn_ _ _ _ _ _ (name the players is a new part of the contest) the statement "...It is very difficult to locate a competent attorney on the Eastern Shore..." has proven true because competent counsel would have written and provided the ad copy with the demand.

Pocomoke Tattler readers have not had this much fun since we played 'Lets find a tag on Cane's Used Cars' going on 3-years 7-cars last week but no tags on anything at 'Ground Zero' for Pocomokes Open Air Drug Market on Fourth Street... Honiss Cane is one of Boss Hogg's City Councilmen for you new readers here.

Possible subject matter: The election of officers for the Pocomoke City Chamber of Commerce was held last Wednesday at the Upper Deck with 17 members reported to be in attendance. It has been verified that Dr. Daffy took the ballots and instead of counting and announcing the winner as has been tradition she took the ballot box, by herself to go to the chamber building to "count ALL of the ballots" after having the locks changed on the building that morning.

It's not like she has Boss Hoggs collection of goat pictures to protect its the chamber of commerce who can't even afford to repair the furnace but new locks were the unilateral decision for election day by Dr. Daffy so she could lock out any nosey members and count the votes in private.

It's Pocomoke...

[See the attached file]

The rules of the contest are simple;

Submit anything you want your guess is as good as mine.

Copy - Pictures - Text or whatever?

No Profanity or Pornography

You may submit as many entries as you like but each entry must be separate.

e-mail entries to bosshogg@pocomoketattler.com

Or post using the comments feature

Really good one liner responses will qualify for runner up position so please don't be bashful

Winner will be treated to a Barbeque Feast with the Billy Burkes in Pocomoke City.

First Runner Up will win a seat with Billy Burke at Pocomoke City Hall for a City Council Meeting.

Second & Third Prizes have not been determined yet but they will be interesting.

Remember we need FOUR (4) 1/4 page ads tabloid size where you will

READ DR.DAFFY's MID TO GUESS WHAT SHE WANTS

Then there is the find the comments to retract and guess what type of retraction should be published for 30-days on the Pocomoke Tattler.

Right about now I am guessing that Dr. Daffy is Russ Blakes favorite person in the world but don't worry Boss we have not forgotten you.

Let the games begin!

SPD Goes 7 Days Without A Single Press Release

As I know many of you enjoy reading the Salisbury Police Department Press Releases, they simply have not produced one since 11-21-07.

As soon as I get word they will start releasing them again, I'll keep you posted. Till then, no news is good news, I guess?

Why The Daily Times Can't Deliver!!!!!!!

As you can clearly see, The Daily Times is constantly running ads like the one I found in today's paper for delivery people. Now why, (might you ask) are they constantly running these ads? Well I've got the EXCLUSIVE answer!

The Daily Times only pays 8 cents per paper, (Monday through Saturday) to be delivered! On Sunday they pay $ 0.24 cents per paper and the drivers have to insert all the sale ads.

Now think about that for a minute. If you deliver 100 Newspapers, that's only $8.00 for the day! If you deliver 1,000 papers that's only $80.00 for the day! I can assure you there aren't many 1,000 papers being delivered by a single driver.

Now if you happen to think that's fair, allow me to continue. The delivery drivers are independent contractors. This means they have their own vehicles, they pay their own automobile insurance and more importantly THEY PAY FOR THEIR OWN GAS! At $3.00 per gallon, drivers are quitting left and right and rightfully so!

While everyone else out there is paying a fuel surcharge, LIKE BOTTLED WATER TO THE CITY GOB, these drivers get NOTHING! Oh, and that Thanksgiving Paper that was thicker than ANY paper delivered all year, they get paid $0.08 cents a piece for that paper! Even though the end user pays $1.25 for that paper, even though they make more money on that paper than any other paper they produce all year, the delivery people get eight cents to deliver it to you.

So it's no wonder this ad is constantly running to get people suckered into delivering papers and it's also no wonder why the Newspaper Business is failing.

Gilchrist Must Go

Gilchrist Must Go And other Republican Growth opportunities.

An NRO Q&A

GO HERE for the official article.

Former Pennsylvania Republican congressman is president of the Club for Growth. In preparation for Wednesday night’s Republican debate, National Review Online editor Kathryn Lopez checked in with him for some quick Republican field assessments.

Kathryn Jean Lopez: Is Mike Huckabee really as bad as you say he is?

Pat Toomey: He’s every bit as bad, and you don’t have to just take our word for it. Jonah Goldberg, you and your fellow editors at National Review, Bob Novak, and John Fund — to name just a few conservative writers — agree that Mike Huckabee is no conservative. You can read the Club’s white paper on our website, but here is a quick summary of Huckabee’s worst hits. According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the average Arkansas tax burden increased 47% over Huckabee’s tenure. Huckabee supported (in chronological order) a sales tax hike; gas and diesel fuel tax hikes; another sales tax hike; a cigarette tax hike; a nursing home bed tax; another sales tax hike; an income surcharge tax; a tobacco tax hike; taxes on Internet access; and higher beer taxes. Huckabee also oversaw a 50-percent increase in spending; happily signed a minimum wage increase and encouraged national Republicans to do the same; favors a national smoking ban, farm subsidies, and a federally mandated arts and music curriculum; opposes private school choice; and employs class-warfare and protectionist language on the campaign trail. Huckabee calls himself an economic conservative in the mold of Ronald Reagan, but the above list doesn’t sound like either.

Lopez: You’ve been hitting him hard for months. Did you see this Iowa surge coming?

Toomey: We considered it a possibility, but our main motivation was to educate the public about the candidates’ various economic records. When Huckabee tried to sell his tax-and-spend record as a paragon of economic conservatism, we felt a responsibility to set the record straight.

Lopez: When are you going to start inundating Iowa with anti-Huckabee commercials?

Toomey: Stay tuned.

Lopez: Is the Club going to endorse anyone before the new year?

Toomey: Unlikely, but not something we’ve completely ruled out.

Lopez: Are you going to personally endorse anyone?

Toomey: I have no plan to do so at this point.

Lopez: How can the guy who ran against Arlen Specter even consider, say, Rudy?

Toomey: Let me be clear — I am speaking personally, not in my capacity as Club for Growth president.

Where do I begin? Arlen Specter does not contain a conservative bone in his body.

While Rudy Giuliani is a self-proclaimed liberal on many important social issues, he is a proven economic conservative, strong on foreign policy, tough on terrorism (perhaps the understatement of the year), and favors conservative judges. In contrast, Arlen Specter is a consummate liberal who never met a spending bill he didn’t like and a committed porker. He voted against CAFTA and permanent normal trade relations with China, joined with Ted Kennedy in borking Robert Bork’s Supreme Court nomination, and recently nearly accused Justices Alito and Roberts of lying during their nomination proceedings.

The list goes on: Specter voted for McCain-Feingold; voted against medical savings accounts; voted for price controls; voted for Medicare Part D; voted for the Bridge to Nowhere; voted to increase the minimum wage; voted to make it easier to raise taxes; voted for the cigarette tax hike contained in the overbloated S-CHIP bill; and voted for S-CHIP. On foreign policy issues, perhaps the best way to sum up the difference between Mayor Giuliani and Senator Specter is this interesting tidbit: Rudy Giuliani kicked Yasser Arafat out of Lincoln Center while Arlen Specter frequently enjoys tea with the Syrian dictator, Bashar al-Assad. The differences between Specter and Giuliani are many, and while Mayor Giuliani parts ways with conservatives on a number of social issues, overall, there is no comparison.

Lopez: Which Republicans must be defeated in 2008?

Toomey: If there is one Republican who must be shown the door, it is Representative Wayne Gilchrest (Md., 1). Representing the conservative First Congressional District in Maryland, Rep. Gilchrest is one of the most economically liberal Republicans in Congress, ranking 212th on the Club for Growth’s 2006 scorecard.

His anti-growth votes read like a “RINO of the Year” award. He recently broke his anti-tax pledge, not once, but twice, voting for the Farm Bill, including a tax hike on foreign companies, and for a tax hike on oil companies. He feels no compunction about wasting taxpayer dollars, whether he’s voting for mohair and Viagra subsidies or against every anti-pork amendment (for which he was present) in 2007 and 2006. In a blow to political free speech, Gilchrest supported McCain-Feingold and the so-called 527 Reform Bill last year. Of course, there’s his vote to increase the minimum wage and his vote against an amendment restricting eminent domain abuse — and well, I could go on for a long time.

In contrast, his opponent, Maryland State Senator Andy Harris, has a long record of fighting for taxpayers at the local level, leading the fight against the Wal-Mart Tax Bill in the Maryland State Senate and sponsoring repeal of the Maryland inheritance tax. Harris has successfully ousted a Republican incumbent before, has been endorsed by former Maryland Republican Governor Bob Ehrlich, and is outraising Gilchrest. A Harris victory in the February primary will be a decisive victory for the conservative movement.

Lopez: Where is the Club focusing its efforts next year?

Toomey: The Club for Growth will be focusing its efforts on two fronts. In the presidential race, we will continue to be an arbiter of economic conservatism among the various presidential and vice-presidential candidates. We hope to encourage the candidates to adopt bold pro-growth platforms and to continue to educate the public about the candidates’ respective records and policy proposals.

On the congressional level, the Club for Growth PAC will be supporting an impressive group of economically conservative candidates in key House and Senate races across the country. These include Senator John Sununu in New Hampshire, former Rep. Bob Schaffer in Colorado, State Senator Andy Harris in Maryland’s First Congressional District, and former County Treasurer and State Representative David Schweikert in Arizona’s Fifth Congressional District.

Lopez: What's your biggest concern about Republicans this election season?

Toomey: The biggest concern is the ongoing struggle between those Republicans who want to continue down the disastrous road of big-government conservatism that doomed the Party in the 2006 cycle and those who want to return the Republican Party to its economically conservative roots. While some Republicans in Congress are putting up a fight to limit government, many Republicans have their hands permanently in taxpayers’ pockets and are not very happy about the concerted effort to remove them.

A Year Ago Today

One year ago the Delmar Fire Department and several others were working their tails off to put out this abandoned barn fire.

Wicomico County Neighborhood Congress

Last night the WCNC Held a meeting in Hebron that was very well attended. Whenever Michael Shwartz covers an event in such detail, I'm not going to throw out my side of it as I firmly believe his coverage is far more detailed than ANY other news source out there, anywhere. Therefore, enjoy the hits Michael.

That being said, GO HERE for the details and additional pictures. I will add however, there were 50 people there, not 75 and at least 10 of them were with the Neighborhood Congress. That's still a well attended meeting.

I'll add, No 47 News. No 16 News. Joe G. from the Daily Times showed up in the very last part of it and was dragging anyone and everyone he could into the hall to catch up on what he missed. A good politician would tell him whatever they wanted their message to be at that point because they would know he missed everything. LOL Perhaps IF my paper ever arrives today I'll get to see what he planted in the paper?

A Message from Jim Ireton:

"What made the meeting a success was that issues were discussed without the environment turning sour. With the facts and figures presented by Mr. Sartori, Mr. Lenox, and Ms. Gordy coupled with the townspeople in Hebron being able to hear from local activists and Hebron's own Planning and Zoning Board...I don't know if you could fit any more into a meeting! The goal of the congress to educate and organize was realized last night. Wicomico County, by one estimate will have 117,000 people by 2030, so I'm grateful to be involved because I'll be 60 years old and still driving to work every morning! We now begin planning for January 29, 2008 when we will convene in Delmar to host a community forum on crime. Everyone involved in the congress has put so much hard work into getting this started, it is nice to see the organization moving forward. Thanks for the coverage."
