Charles E. Rozanski, 25, of Georgetown, Del., was arrested Saturday evening following an investigation into an altercation with his girlfriend that occurred in a vehicle as they left Rehoboth Beach during which he stabbed her in the chest.

On Friday evening at around 11:15pm, officers were called to the second block of Rehoboth Avenue, in the area of the Purple Parrot, for a group of disorderly people possibly preparing to fight. When officers arrived the people had left the scene; however, the investigation revealed that prior to their arrival Rozanski was involved in an altercation with his girlfriend, a 30 year old female from Georgetown, Del., which drew the attention of two other males who confronted him about his behavior. Rozanski engaged in a physical altercation with the two males, which ended when he displayed a knife causing them to retreat.

Over an hour later, just after midnight on Saturday morning, Rehoboth Police were called to the Beebe Health Campus emergency room where a female victim was reporting that she had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers determined that the victim was the girlfriend of Rozanski.

A detective was immediately called into assume the investigation which revealed that after the physical altercation on Rehoboth Avenue, Rozanski drove his vehicle away from the scene with the victim in the passenger seat. A verbal altercation escalated to Rozanski stabbing the victim in the chest with a knife puncturing her lung.

Rozanski was arrested and charged with 1 count of first degree assault, 1 count of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and 1 count of carrying a concealed deadly weapon, which are all felony crimes. Rozanski was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $52,000.00 secured bail.

At this time police have been unable to identify the two males towards whom Rozanski displayed a knife. Rehoboth Police are asking that anyone with information about the altercation that occurred on Rehoboth Avenue around 11:15pm; please contact Detective Tyler Whitman at (302) 524-1391. Those with information can also submit a tip through the police department website online at or send us a private message.

Ultralight Aircraft Crash In Caroline County Claims Life Of The Pilot

(FEDERALSBURG, MD) – An ultralight aircraft crashed in Caroline County claiming the life of the pilot.

The pilot is identified as Michael Malick, 71, of Federalsburg. He was the sole occupant of the aircraft and was transported to Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford where he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. The model of the aircraft involved is a Dream Machine 582.

Shortly after 9:00 a.m. this morning today, Maryland State Police at the Easton Barrack were dispatched to the report of an aircraft crash at a privately owned residential landing strip in the 3000-block of Seippes Road in Federalsburg, Md. Police believe the pilot is the owner of the grass airfield where the incident occurred. There no injuries reported on the ground.

The preliminary investigation indicates shortly after takeoff, the pilot lost control of the aircraft for reasons unknown at this time. As he was ascending, investigators believe the plane hit a power line. Witnesses informed police the plane spiraled to the ground. A parachute appeared to have deployed from the aircraft.

State Police notified officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. FAA officials will be responding to the scene to continue the investigation.

Wicomico BOE: New Dog, Old Tricks

Dr. Donna Hanlin
By Thornton Crowe

We believed when Dr. Donna Hanlin took the reins from Dr. John Frederickson as Superintendent of the Wicomico Board of Education, everything would miraculously be transformed... Were we ever wrong. Things just got worse -- much worse.

In the fashion of big government, bureaucracy and all things we hate about politics and its effect on our worlds - another astounding development surfaced on the last day of school when parents received a  letter stating if their children lived less than a mile from a school, they would be forced to walk because the WBOE will no longer provide bus service in that radius.

This new measure encompasses even pre-kindergarten children. Yes, babies ages less than 5 years old are also expected to walk to school up to a mile away; regardless of said school's location.

As per one source, this means some students in the Quantico area will have to walk 25 minutes to get to a school, only to be bussed to their end destination. Does this make going to school more an adventure of endurance in a maze of confusion?

While many of you will no doubt herald this as the way for kids to get much-needed exercise, is it prudent in our current melee? Violent crime is on the rise in Salisbury and all, it should concern all parents whose children will be forced to walk through neighborhoods most adults wouldn't drive through in order to get to school five days a week. Is this really what folks expected when the WBOE touted budget cuts?

Is this really looking out for the kids?

Strike Three?

By Thornton Crowe

Last week, we reported on all the contention over the County budget, yet another budget snuck under the radar without much to do until now. Salisbury News has learned, the City's budget is in far worse shape in spite of being passed before their deadline.

Being this is Julia Glanz's first official budget in her new capacity as our City Administrator, one would think she would've taken extra care to check for accuracy, proving her competency; however, this is not the case. The new budget was passed without being in accordance to the new Charter.

Is this incompetence or deliberate?

At this point, we don't know... but as per the new Charter, the budget must be balance in order to pass. And yes, while a balanced budget was passed, it was done illegally because it was under the old Charter based on 12 departments. There's just one problem...

Breaking News: Dashboard video (graphic) of Officer Jeronimo Yanez shooting Philando Castile in Minnesota

Dashboard video (graphic) of Officer Jeronimo Yanez shooting Philando Castile in Minnesota has been released for the first time

Days after a police officer was acquitted of all charges in the fatal shooting of Philando Castile, a black motorist in Minnesota, video of the shooting was publicly released on Tuesday for the first time.

Millions of people have seen the immediate aftermath of the shooting because Mr. Castile’s girlfriend had livestreamed it on Facebook. But few have seen this video – from a dashboard camera on Officer Jeronimo Yanez’s patrol car – which was played several times this month to jurors during Officer Yanez’s manslaughter trial.

While I'm sure all of you can just imagine what I wanted to add to this title, I'll just leave that up to you in comments instead.

Let me see if I can recall deep into my memory bank to an old saying by Max Klinger on M*A*S*H*. "If I had a dog with your face I'd shave its butt and teach it to walk backwards". That being said Jake, there's my answer.

As for the "First Family" crap, I really think you have some mental issues. WOW!

Salisbury Mayor Jake Day Oversteps his Power Line...Again?

By Thornton Crowe

Isn't this Jake balderdash getting just a bit old?

Yesterday in the Daily Times, Salisbury Mayor Jake Day proclaimed the area historical markers located throughout the area should be removed! Beating his chest, made this stunning proclamation but is this just more faddist politics on his part?

The country has a minority of people who want to eradicate its history by removing markers and monuments throughout historic cities - largely in the South. It all began with the Confederate flag and its removal in South Carolina's government buildings. And since, it's been a beat-the-clock political statement to try to see how much history the Liberals can erase before people say enough is enough.

What's so absurd about Day's bloviation is he seems to forget quite often where his jurisdiction lies in Salisbury. As confirmed by a county source, this is a matter for Wicomico's Executive office and the Historical Society - not Day.

BREAKING NEWS: Delaware Senator Brian Pettyjohn Caught Trying To Bring Loaded 9 mm Weapon On Plane 6-22-17

Delaware State Senator Brian Pettyjohn was denied access loading a plane today at the Salisbury, Maryland Airport.

Pettyjohn had a loaded 9 mm weapon in his carry on baggage. He later claimed he had forgotten he had it with him.

The Senator was detained and not allowed to board that flight but Wicomico County Sheriffs eventually released him and allowed him to board a later flight, he was not arrested.

Senator Pettyjohn does have a right to carry license but it is a Federal Offense to not forewarn the airline in advance that you will be carrying a weapon and allowing the airline to approve or deny it.

Airline sources have informed me that there will be charges against the Senator once he returns to the area.

Hollywood Melts Down After Ossoff Loss: ‘Grouphug, Get In’

Hollywood celebrities took to Twitter Tuesday night to vent after Democrat Jon Ossoff lost Georgia’s Sixth District special congressional election to Republican challenger Karen Handel.

Celebrities who donated time and money to Ossoff’s campaign, including actresses Alyssa Milano and Rosie O’Donnell, used their social media accounts to react to the Democrat’s loss shortly after the election results were confirmed late Tuesday night.

Milano, who personally drove voters to the polls in April’s preliminary election and was actively campaigning for the Democrat for most of Election Day, tweeted simply: “Grouphug” and “Get in.”

Meanwhile, electronic music producer Moby and vocal Trump critic O’Donnell appeared to be frustrated by the results, with Moby questioning how Democratic “still can’t win” even with “buffoon” Donald Trump in the White House. O’Donnell tweeted: “DONALD TRUMP IS THE DARKNESS ITSELF.”

Woman Hires Civil Rights Firm To Challenge OC’s Topless Ban

OCEAN CITY — The other shoe dropped over the weekend when the Maryland woman who first challenged the legality of women going topless in the same areas where men are allowed to go shirtless retained a nationally known civil rights attorney to challenge Ocean City’s recently passed ordinance prohibiting the act.

On Thursday, the Maryland Attorney General’s Office issued a long-awaited opinion on the issue of females allowed to go topless in the same areas where men are allowed to go shirtless, essentially opining the emergency ordinance passed by the Mayor and Council on June 10 prohibiting women from going topless in public areas including the beach and Boardwalk, for example, was not unconstitutional. The Mayor and Council enacted the emergency ordinance while awaiting the Maryland Office of the Attorney General (OAG) opinion with the start of the summer season arriving and at least a handful of women exercising their perceived rights to go topless on the beach.

Last August, at the request of Maryland resident Chelsea Covington, Worcester County State’s Attorney Beau Oglesby reached out to the Maryland Attorney General’s Office seeking an opinion on the legality of women going topless in the same public areas where men are allowed to go shirtless. Covington, an advocate for female bare-chestedness in public through the TopFreedom initiative, often goes topless in public places in Maryland including Ocean City and Assateague, for example.

What Drinking Costs You Over the Course of Your Life

A quick trip to the liquor store on Monday to pick up a bottle of wine for dinner, drinks out during the week, a trip back to the liquor store on Friday (because you must stock up for the weekend)…

Twenty bucks here and 30 bucks there may seem like nothing, but have you ever stopped to add up what you spend on drinking in a week? A month? A year? How about in 10 years? If you did, would you still spend the money?

The costs associated with regular drinking can be significant, so it’s important to be aware of the price you pay for maintaining this expensive habit.

What You Will Spend on Alcohol During Your Lifetime

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Americans spend about 1 percent of their gross annual income on alcohol. For the average household, that’s $565 a year, $5,650 in 10 years, or a whopping $22,600 over a 40-year period.

It’s worth noting that $565 per year breaks down to about $11 a week. In some cities that will barely buy you one cocktail, so it is very probable your spending exceeds that. But this is one area in which you may not want to be above average.

Who Did This As A Child & Where?

Justce for Sister Cathy: The Keepers

By Thornton Crowe

As many of you know from my previous writings, criminal injustice has always found a soft spot in my psyche, largely because I generally believe in our Rule of Law. A program on Netflix, once again, has struck a chord within me because the grave miscarriage of our justice system stirs even for the most hardened of hearts.

Sister Catherine Cesnik is probably a name many of you haven't heard of before. Her tale actually began and ended many decades ago. Close to 48 years ago, she was brutally murdered and many believe it was priests in her own parish who either orchestrated, planned and/or executed the egregious murder. Most importantly was not how she died but the following cover up by the Baltimore Archdiocese that makes this crime even more unsettling.

It began in November 1969 when she went out one night to buy her little sister a special engagement present. Sister Cathy left her apartment in Catonsville, Maryland and never returned home. She was killed to cover up bigger violations but in her death, silence has proven to be moot.

DEMANDS That Whites Open Bank Accounts Solely to Pay Reparations For Their Ancestors Owning Slaves

The idea of reparations has been around for a long time. Some activists believe that white Americans should be forced to pay black Americans whose ancestors were slaves. It’s not something that most people take seriously, but HBO host Bill Maherwelcomed a guest who argues for exactly this on his show recently.

Maher recently landed in hot water for using the n-word on his show “Real Time with Bill Maher”, and he’s only just come back on the air. One of his first guests was Georgetown University professor Michael Eric Dyson, who unsurprisingly lectured Maher about his racist slip-up.

“That’s our word, and you can’t have it back,” Dyson told Maher, who agreed. “I did a bad thing,” Maher responded. “For black folks, that word, I don’t care who you are, has caused pain. I’m not here to do that.” The real question, of course, is how Maher still has his job, but apparently celebrities can commit any manner of sins and have them excused, as long as they’re liberals.

Concealed Carry Bill Proposed for Congress Members

A Republican lawmaker introduced legislation Tuesday to let trained members of Congress carry guns for self-defense in the wake of last week's shooting at a GOP baseball practice.

Rep. Brian Babin, R-Texas, wants to ensure all lawmakers can qualify for concealed-carry permits that could be used in any state and "in nearly every conceivable scenario with only a few restrictions," The Washington Free Beacon reported.

For example, the bill would allow members of Congress to carry a concealed weapon in "federal parks and buildings, the national mall, to and from their offices, at schools and military bases" with just "a few limited restrictions," Babin's office said, Free Beacon reported.

Lawmakers currently face restrictions on carrying guns when they are in Washington; the District of Columbia has strict gun laws, and firearms are prohibited in the Capitol.

LGBT Community Now DEMANDING Permanent ‘Rainbow Crosswalks’ In Cities Across The Country

“Rainbow crosswalks” are the just public crosswalks that have been repainted in rainbow colors, which have been taken by the LGBTQ community for signaling of greater acceptance and rights for LGBTQ campaigns and beliefs.

Activists are goading local lawmakers to make the crosswalks by what? Petitions, of course. Presently, one of the cities being bombarded with the petition is Chicago. That petition is now widespread there and has earned more than 4,000 signatures. According to the petition’s self-serving goal, tax-paid rainbow crosswalks are going to make things better…at least until the next demand, “Some cities, like San Francisco, have made LGBTQ people feel more at home by creating permanent rainbow crosswalks to honor the LGBTQ community. … This is one small thing that could be done to signal to one of the most marginalized communities in the country that we are here for them, we see them, and we support them.”

Eric Holder joins the anti-Trump resistance

More than two years after leaving the Obama administration, former Attorney General Eric Holder is re-entering the political fray.

His goal: to lead the legal resistance to Donald Trump’s agenda — and perhaps even run against the president in 2020.

Seized by a sense of urgency to oppose Trump and restore what he regards as America’s best self, Holder is mulling a White House bid of his own, according to three sources who have spoken to him and are familiar with his thinking.

“Up to now, I have been more behind-the-scenes,” Holder told Yahoo News in an exclusive interview about his plans. “But that’s about to change. I have a certain status as the former attorney general. A certain familiarity as the first African-American attorney general. There’s a justified perception that I’m close to President Obama. So I want to use whatever skills I have, whatever notoriety I have, to be effective in opposing things that are, at the end of the day, just bad for the country.

“Now is the time to be more visible,” Holder added. “Now is the time to be heard.”

On Monday morning, Holder launched this new phase of his career by traveling to California to speak out..

While the Mayor and Police Chief claim crime is down, it is only Salisbury News who continues to deliver the public factual/documented information. Mind you, this is what is reported and does not include rapes from Salisbury University or the County.

A guy can walk into a Bank without a gun and rob it and it's all over your local news but when women are RAPED, well, I guess that's not a big deal.

I guess the fact that this Mayor and Police Chief ignore and even deny the almost weekly rapes in Salisbury is what gets under my skin. Their only public comment is that crime is down and what you are hearing from Salisbury News is not true. It kind of reminds me of Hitler.

Johnny Depp is apologizing for his joke about assassinating President Trump, saying he didn't mean any harm by it.

Johnny released a statement admitting the "bad joke" he told Thursday to the Glastonbury Festival crowd was in poor taste.

“It did not come out as intended, and I intended no malice," his apology read. "I was only trying to amuse, not to harm anyone.”

We Are ALL Racist Now

Stevie Wonder: Can’t Say ‘Black Lives Matter’ When Blacks Are Killing Blacks

While addressing “gun violence” at a North Minneapolis Conference on Peace, musician Stevie Wonder said it is contradictory to say, “Black Lives Matter” while black-on-black crime rages out of control.

According to Billboard magazine, Wonder said, “It is in your hands to do it. It is in your hands to stop all the killing and all the shooting wherever you might be. Because you cannot say, ‘Black lives matter,’ and then kill yourselves.”

"Because you know we’ve mattered long before it was said, but the way we show that we matter, the way that we show all the various people of color matter is by loving each other and doing something about it. Not just talking about it.."

He continued:

Baltimore businesses destroyed during riots sue city officials for failing to prevent violence

Dozens of Baltimore business owners are suing city officials, including the police department and former Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, saying they mishandled the city's response to the rioting in 2015.

In a nearly 700-page complaint filed in federal court this week, more than 60 plaintiffs say city officials failed to prevent the looting and rioting that erupted after the arrest and death of Freddie Gray in April 2015, despite warnings the city would experience violence.

More than 380 businesses, including many located south of North Avenue in West Baltimore, were damaged or destroyed. Property losses were estimated at nearly $13 million.

The plaintiffs are suing under the Maryland riot act statute, which allows parties to bring a claim against the city for property damage during civil unrest. They name Rawlings-Blake and former Police Commissioner Anthony Batts, who were in office at the time of the riots, current Mayor Catherine Pugh, the City Council, city police and the state as defendants. They are seeking an unspecified amount in damages.

Motorcyclist Plows Through Trump Protesters Staging a “Die In” [VIDEO]

Lying about in the middle of the street is the hot new way to protest. The not-so-subtle obstruction of traffic patterns and the inconvenience caused to motorists is intended to draw attention to issues. But some motorists have had their fill of the protests and are staging protests of their own, like this motorcyclist who rode through a recent crowd in San Francisco.

The protest took place in front of the San Francisco Federal Building. They protestors were holding a “die-in” to highlight Trump’s new healthcare bill.

OCPD Arrest Man for Assault on an Undercover Officer

OCEAN CITY, MD – : A Baltimore man was arrested early Sunday morning after attempting to assault an undercover Ocean City police officer with a knife.

On Sunday, June 18, 2017 at approximately 12:30 a.m. an Ocean City Police sergeant was working in a covert capacity patrolling on foot in the area of 3rd Street and Baltimore Avenue as part of a robbery suppression detail. While investigating a nearby disturbance, the sergeant was confronted by a male who brandished a knife and began approaching the covert officer.

The sergeant immediately identified himself as a police officer, drew his departmental firearm, and began giving commands to the suspect. After ignoring the officer’s commands several times, the suspect finally dropped the knife to the ground but continued to approach the officer. The suspect was then taken into custody by the sergeant with the assistance of additional responding officers.

The suspect was identified as Jordan J. Kuzma, 19, of Baltimore, MD. Kuzma has been charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure, and possession of an assisted opening knife within the Town of Ocean City. Kuzma was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and released after posting $20,000 bond.

President calls for barring immigrants from welfare for five years

President Trump announced Wednesday night that he will soon ask Congress to pass legislation banning immigrants from accessing public assistance within five years of entering the U.S.

“The time has come for new immigration rules that say ... those seeking immigration into our country must be able to support themselves financially and should not use welfare for a period of at least five years," Trump told a campaign-style rally in Grand Rapids, Iowa.

Trump's proposal would build on the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, which allows federal authorities to deport immigrants who become public dependents within five years of their arrival.

Trump's proposal would also prevent the admission of people who are likely to become so-called "public charges" within five years of their arrival. The concept of "public charge" has been part of U.S. immigration law for over a century. It allows the government to bar entry to individuals who are likely to seek public assistance. Trump is expected to propose toughening up the rules regarding “public charge” and ensuring that they are enforced.

Michael Brown's Parents Settle Wrongful Death Lawsuit With Ferguson, Mo.

Nearly three years after their son's death sparked nationwide protests, the parents of Michael Brown have settled their wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Ferguson, Mo.

Brown, who was African-American, was shot and killed by a white police officer in August 2014.

As we reported, Brown's parents filed a civil lawsuit against the city of Ferguson, former police chief Thomas Jackson and former police officer Darren Wilson, who shot and killed the unarmed 18-year-old.

The lawsuit claimed Wilson "unjustifiably shot and killed" Brown, using "an unnecessary and unreasonable" amount of force.

Bernie Sanders urges supporters to ‘act in unprecedented way’ to stop Republicans

Apparently not learning any lessons from a near-fatal attack by one of his supporters on Republican congressmen and staffers, Bernie Sanders is urging Democrats to fight the GOP by any means necessary.

During a Facebook live Q & A with fellow progressive crank Elizabeth Warren on Monday, Sanders told a supporter named “Mary” that liberals need to take “unprecedented” action to stop Republicans.

“We gotta stand up and fight back,” Sander said. “We have gotta be involved in the political process in a way that we have never been before because what is happening now in Washington is unprecedented.”

Pointing at the camera, Sanders said, “You have got to, Mary, act in an unprecedented way. Think big. Get involved in every way that you can.”

Holder Wants To Be In The Spotlight And Might Run In 2020

Former Attorney General Eric Holder is moving away from a behind-the-scenes role and is considering running for president in 2020, according to a Tuesday report from Yahoo News.

“Up to now, I have been more behind-the-scenes. But that’s about to change. I have a certain status as the former attorney general. A certain familiarity as the first African-American attorney general,” Holder told Yahoo News. “There’s a justified perception that I’m close to President Obama. So I want to use whatever skills I have, whatever notoriety I have, to be effective in opposing things that are, at the end of the day, just bad for the country.”

The former attorney general has been working against Trump administration initiatives ranging from crackdowns on illegal immigration to increased prosecutions of drug dealers.

Holder further explained that Hillary Clinton’s loss inspired him to step into the spotlight.

“I thought, frankly, along with everybody else, that after the election, with Hillary Clinton as president, I could walk off the field,” the former attorney general elaborated. “So when she didn’t win, I thought, ‘We’ll have to see how this plays out.’ But it became clear relatively soon — and certainly sooner than I expected — that I had to get back on the field and be in effective opposition.”

JUST IN: Karen Handel Wins Georgia Special Election, Fending Off Upstart Democrat

ATLANTA — Karen Handel, a veteran Republican officeholder, overcame a deluge of liberal money to win a special House election in Georgia on Tuesday, bridging the divide in her own party between admirers of President Trump and those made uneasy by his turbulent new administration.

Ms. Handel, 55, fended off Jon Ossoff, a 30-year-old Democrat and political newcomer who emerged from obscurity to raise $25 million from progressives across the country eager to express their anger at Mr. Trump. That fervor quickly elevated what would otherwise have been a sleepy local race into a high-stakes referendum on Mr. Trump and the most expensive House campaign in history.

The surprisingly easy victory for Ms. Handel, a former Georgia secretary of state and Fulton County official, averted a humiliating upset for Republicans in an affluent, suburban Atlanta seat they have held for nearly 40 years. And it showed that Republicans skeptical of Mr. Trump remain comfortable supporting more conventional candidates from their party.

Baltimore City running low on opioid overdose remedy

Baltimore health officials are running low on naloxone, the opioid overdose reversal drug used hundreds of times by bystanders in the last couple of years to save lives.

Dr. Leana Wen, the city health commissioner, said demand has jumped significantly along with the drug epidemic and the health department needs funding for more supplies.

"We are rationing," she said. "We're deciding who is at the highest risk and giving it to them."

The city has about 4,000 doses left to last until next May. The department will distribute them, two at a time, to residents, including IV drug users encountered by the city's needle exchange vans or by outreach workers in "hotspots," areas where a spate of overdoses recently occurred.

"If I had 10,000 doses and gave them to everyone who requested them, I'd run out in about two weeks," Wen said.

Chuck Schumer: No more 'business as usual' from Democrats on healthcare

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Monday that Senate Republicans should not expect Senate Democrats to let the Senate run as usual in light of the secretive GOP talks to repeal and replace Obamacare.

"If Republicans won't relent and debate their healthcare bill in the open for the American people to see, they shouldn't expect business as usual in the Senate," Schumer said.

"This radical departure from normal procedure on a bill of such consequence leaves the Senate minority with little choice but to depart from normal procedure as well," Schumer said.

SPD Calls For Service Week Ending 6-18-17

Breaking News: Otto Warmbier, the U.S. student held by North Korea, has died

He was in a coma when he was freed last week after 17 months in captivity.

In a statement, Mr. Warmbier’s family said the 22-year-old died on Monday at 2:20 p.m.

“Unfortunately, the awful torturous mistreatment our son received at the hands of the North Koreans ensured that no other outcome was possible beyond the sad one we experienced today,” the statement said.

How Could The Navy Destroyer Collision Happen?

The headline shocked the close-knit world of the surface Navy: Seven sailors aboard the destroyer USS Fitzgerald were killed, and other crew members injured, when the warship collided with a cargo vessel off Japan.

As the Navy family grieves, both it and the wider world are asking the same question: How did this happen?

The short answer is that no one knows — yet. The official inquiries into what led up to the encounter could take months or more. The Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard both likely will eventually issue reports that describe what happened and could make recommendations for preventing another such accident.

"I will not speculate on how long these investigations will last," said Vice Adm. Joseph Aucoin, commander of the Navy's 7th Fleet. The Fitzgerald and the other ships of Destroyer Squadron 15, based outside Tokyo, fall under his authority.

Salisbury City Hall's Damning Reality

By Thornton Crowe

One of the problems we face today is the young ones coming out of college expecting to start at the top of the food chain rather than paying their dues and working there way up. Salisbury government is no exception to this general sentiment. Mayor Jake Day has purposefully been going through, slicing and dicing people from the payroll to make room for the college grads fresh out of school.

Could this be a coordinated effort with Dr. Dudley-Eshbach? It wouldn't be a shock horror if this were found to be the case. She is already under scrutiny (and heat) because college graduates are having the most difficulty find employment in the tough economy of the last seven years.

A source revealed after his collegiate career and service, Day waltzed into a fancy Perdue job gratis daddy before taking the City Hall helm. Pretty much the same song is sung with City Administrator Julia Glanz. She came here from Long Island, New York to go to Salisbury University; got her two degrees and went directly into government.

The opioid epidemic is so bad that librarians are learning how to treat overdoses

Philadelphia (CNN)A crowd hovered over the man lying on the grass as his skin turned purple. Chera Kowalski crouched next to his limp body, a small syringe in her gloved hand.

The antidote filled the man's nostril.

The purple faded. Then it came back. Kowalski's heart raced.

"We only gave him one, and he needs another!" she called to a security guard in McPherson Square Park, a tranquil patch of green in one of this city's roughest neighborhoods.

"He's dying," said a bystander, piling on as tension mounted around lunchtime one recent weekday.

"Where is the ambulance?" a woman begged.
