SHOREBIRDS GAME NOTES: 6/14 vs. KANNAPOLIS

PREVIEW: The Shorebirds play game one against Kannapolis following their third off day of the season on Sunday. The Shorebirds lost two heartbreakers to the Legends at Applebee’s Park over the weekend. The ‘Birds have been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention; eleven games back with seven to go.

FIRST SWEEP: The Shorebirds were swept for the first time all season this weekend. They will look to avoid tying their season high for consecutive losses (4).

STAMPONE STELLAR: Tyler Stampone takes a four-game hitting streak into game one against the Intimidators. He had six hits in the three-game set against Lexington. The Meadowbrook, Pa. native has five RBIs in the series as well.

BELOW .500: The Shorebirds will finish below .500 in the first half of the season for the first time since the 2005 season. The ‘Birds have had winning records in the first half the last four years; 2009 (36-33), 2008 (38-31), 2007 (34-33) and 2006 (37-31). The best the ‘Birds can do is 33-36.

BULLPEN WOES: The ‘Birds bullpen had some difficulty in the Lexington series. In eleven total innings, the pen allowed eight runs. The ‘Birds squandered a 5-1 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth inning in game one.

SEVEN-IN-A-ROW: The last Shorebirds player to record an RBI in seven consecutive games was Mark Fleisher back in 2006. Fleisher recorded at least one RBI between May 13 and 21 of 2006. He recorded 14 RBIs during the stretch. Kieron Pope has recorded an RBI in six straight games. Fleisher finished the year with 67 RBIs.

JUSTIN COLLOP: Kannapolis starter Justin Collop was a 6th rounder in 2009 out of Toledo. In 2009, he posted a 4-7 record with a 6.51 ERA in 13 starts for the Rockets.

153 CAREER K’S: Nathan Moreau leads the Shorebirds staff with 58 strikeouts and has 153 for his two year career with the Shorebirds. Moreau struck out 95 batters in 2009. Moreau passed his pitching coach Troy Mattes on the career strikeout list. Mattes fanned 151 batters back in 1996. Javier Vazquez struck out 173 batters in 1996. Jayme Sperring struck out 250 batters in his four-year career with the Shorebirds from 2000-2003.

1 of 5: Brian Conley is one of only five players in the South Atlantic League with more walks than strike outs on the season. Conley has 44 walks on the year to 42 strike outs. The other four players are: Zach Gentile (Greenville) 22 BB: 15 SO, Kevin Dubler (Kannapolis) 14 BB: 11 SO, Dock Doyle (Savannah) 13 BB: 9 SO, Sam Honeck (6 BB: 4 SO). Conley has by far the most at-bats of the group (201 AB’s).

BUMBRY OVER LAST 10: Steve Bumbry is hitting .382 over his last 10 games (13-34). He also has five RBIs during the stretch.

T.J. BAXTER LEADS SYSTEM: Baxter leads the Orioles farm system in stolen bases with 18 steals on the season. Baxter has accounted for six of the 12 Shorebirds total stolen bases in the month of June.

.311: Over a four-game series, the Intimidators hit .311 against the Shorebirds at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium (May 12-15). Brady Shoemaker, Kyle Colligan and Jesus Villegas each had five hits in the series.

Laurel Investigation

I was curious to know if you have heard of anything going on in the Laurel area. The police visited several homes in the area today informing us that they were looking for someone. They advised us to not go outside, and to keep our doors locked.

Any information would be greatly appreciated seeing as I feel captive in my own home.

Thanks

Special Board Of Education Meeting

Special Board of Education Meeting

The Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 29. The main item on the agenda will be the approval of the fiscal 2011 budget. 410-677-4561.

Anne Arundel Council Feasts, Workers Get Furloughed

Anne Arundel County Council members are on a seafood diet. When they see food, they bill it -- to taxpayers.

Council members may hold jobs and services in their claws, but that didn’t stop them from spending more than $1,100 on crabs and booze at a waterfront Annapolis restaurant -- just hours after approving a slashed budget with 12-day worker furloughs.

The council signed off on the budget, which cut workers’ pay and county services, then headed on down to Mike's Crab House, where they spent $1,169 on a seafood feast, which they charged to a county credit card, according to the Baltimore Sun. When found out, the folks responsible for the county’s math lamely said they used the card to avoid having to work out who owed what on the massive bill, and that they had planned to pay it back all along.

STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY ON THE ARREST IN THE MURDER OF TROOPER WESLEY BROWN

ANNAPOLIS, MD (June 14, 2010) – Governor Martin O’Malley issued this statement today following an arrest in the fatal shooting of Maryland State Police Trooper First Class Wesley Brown.

“On behalf of the people of Maryland, I want to thank the men and women of the Prince George’s County Police, the Maryland State Police, and federal authorities who worked so hard over these last three days for their commitment and their professionalism.”

The Daily Times Pulls All Comments From NAACP Letter To The Editor

The Daily Times has pulled all comments from Wicomico County President of the NAACP Mary Ashanti's Letter to the Editor today.
Racism and Yellow Journalism, Wicomico County at its best. I know, let's let the Democrats say whatever they want and pull the Race Card and when the taxpayers call them out on their BS, let's censor all comments so everyone is to believe Mary's words are Gospel.
THIS is what Salisbury News is for Folks. Drop your subscription to that daily rag, they're clearly not worth it any more.

Happy Flag Day

2 In Custody In Officer's Shooting Death

Prince George's County police have taken two people into custody in relation to the shooting death of a Maryland State trooper outside an Applebee's restaurant, sources told News4.

Investigators will make the announcement and release more details at a 2 p.m. news conference.

Over the weekend investigators said they found a man seen in surveillance pictures at the restaurant, where Trooper Wesley Brown was shot and killed early Friday morning.

Mayor Ireton At It Again

Today Salisbury News came to learn of two new situations at hand, both referencing the Salisbury Police Department.

It has been reported that Mayor Ireton will be furloughing Police Officers. As if it isn't bad enough that these Officers are some of the lowest paid Officers in the state of Maryland, now he wants to cut even more out of their pay.
We have watched TWO Mayor's within the City of Salisbury ignore SPD requests to increase their budget in order to tackle crime head on by putting in new Officers. Jim Ireton ran a campaign based on showing support to the SPD, yet all of his actions since he has been in Office have turned out quite the opposite. Again, "Mr. One Term Mayor."
Are you ready for this though. Now Mayor Ireton, (even though he publicly stated Ivan Barkley could remain Chief as long as he was interested in the position) wants to ask the Council to EXTEND Ivan's current position for another 6 months.
OK Jim, what's the deal. Either you support Chief Barkley or you don't. The word I was receiving throughout the weekend was that Ernie Leatherbury was going to replace Chief Barkley and now we're seeing yet another extension rather than fixing the position for Ivan Barkley.
Here's what I personally think. I think the City Council should demand that Ireton either fill this position with Ivan Barkley or in the very least simply extend the temporary position for 3 months, instead of 6.
The City Charter states that the Mayor "SHALL" appoint a new Police Chief. It doesn't say he MAY. So based on the Charter, Jim needs to get on the ball with both the Police Department and the Fire Department and hire new Chief's.
Let me close with this thought. Since I challenged Mary Ashonti in an earlier Post, I should do the same to Ireton. Is it more important to have Lore' Chambers in her high payed position, or more Police Officers on the streets and not being furloughed? Will the AFP get a hold of this one and run with it as well? Let's see where this takes us.
UPDATE: The proposed resolution to extend Ivan Barkley's acting status is open ended -- no expiration is provided -- and is intended to continue until whenever Ireton appoints a permanent police chief "with the advice and consent of the Council" as the Charter mandates ("shall appoint").

Mary E. Ashanti Plays The Race Card Again

In a letter to the editor in today's Daily Times, Mary E. Ashanti pulls the race card once again. This time it's about the PIO position a WHITE MAN is holding, Jim Fineran.

Salisbury News got word recently that the "race card" was going to be played but not by Mary. We heard it would be Rudy Cane instead. We did learn that Rudy did send a letter to the County Council but we have not seen the content.

"Randolph Outen, an African-American, challenged Wicomico County's leadership to create a position that would be informational to the public and serve as an opportunity to fill a high-level management position with an African-American."

"The purpose of this commentary is to rally against the decision to ignore the vision of a well-respected African-American educator who served the county in many capacities and was instrumental in creating the position, without which our link to public information is weakened."

"Through a federal lawsuit, a group of determined community leaders successfully changed the county's voting districts to include a minority district. We realize our voice in government only spans two at-large seats unless we chose to engage in the democratic process. Simply stated, I request our County Council continue funding the position our community helped to establish and our county executive endorses -- the public information officer."

"Of all positions cut in the budget, the only high-level management position eliminated in a $112 million budget was created by an African-American." Another high position in the County was eliminated Mary. The Parks & Recreation Superintendent was eliminated, so your claim is inaccurate.
The majority of the County Council felt that the $60,000.00 salary for the PIO was not a necessity, especially based on the current position Wicomico County is currently in fiscally.
Considering the circumstances of the former PIO, (in which I will not get into in this Post) went vacant for several years, yet Mary nor Rudy made any formal complaints. The former position was held by an African American and then filled by an Irish White man. Again, no complaints.
Considering the fiscal position the County is in right now and considering the position was vacant for several years, it puzzles me as to why the race card is being pulled out of nowhere. If you'll also recall, the County has been unable to do the Maintenance of Effort for the Public Schools for the last two years. The state cut road funding along with many other budget cuts. Is the African American Community suggesting they would rather have this position filled, rather than roads being paved, schools being properly funded and additional Police Officers on the streets? I believe public safety is more important.
The true bottom line, (as I see it) is that the public has clearly spoken. Our County Executive mainly removed some employees from their payroll but most of them were low paying jobs. It is also my belief that Mr. Pollitt has encouraged both Rudy and Mary to play this race card in the hopes of securing Mr. Fineran's job.
In closing I'd like to add that I felt it was unfair of Mary to make it sound as if this PIO position was a part of the NAACP's lawsuit and settlement. I just want to make this clear to all of our readers. The two at large positions are what the NAACP settled on with the County and not the PIO position.

Kittens

Hi Joe,

I adopted a kitten from you three years ago, and now my mom is in need of some help. A cat was dropped off to my parents home and she is sweet. Well low and behold she was pregnant. Now we have some kittens that are in need of a good home. I have a home for one that I know of and I am in talks with my husband to keep one myself. But that leaves two for us to find homes for.

They will be ready for new homes this weekend as they will be old enough to separate from mom. I have enclosed a picture for you. The calico and tortie are the ones in need of a home. The gray one in the picture is already spoken for. They are very sweet and friendly. If you could post this on your site and help us out it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help,

Pileated Woodpecker

Last week we introduced some of the new wildlife here on the Albero Ranch. Today we bring you rare footage of Mom bringing home food to her young right here on the Albero Ranch.

Despite its size, this elegant woodpecker is adept at keeping out of sight. Obtaining a close view of one usually requires careful and quiet coverage.

Although primarily a forest bird, the "Logcock" has recently become adapted to civilization and has become relatively numerous even on the outskirts of large cities, where its presence is most easily detected by its loud, ringing call and by its large, characteristically rectangular excavations in trees.

It breeds in southern Canada to the Gulf states and the mountains of the Western United States.

RICK POLLITT’S “PIO” OFFERS AN ABSURD EXCUSE

In today’s Daily Times article about the pending Wicomico County budget for FY 2011 the County’s public information officer attempts to justify his boss’s refusal to meet with the Council to discuss his proposed budget. According to Mr. Fineran this is appropriate because it is not customary for county executives elsewhere in Maryland to attend legislative meetings on the budget. In other words, let’s not go “outside the box.”

Apparently Mr. Fineran does not know whether those other county executives refuse to meet with the council when requested to do so. But, regardless of the normal practice, this is anything but a normal time for Wicomico County.

Mr. Fineran does not mention why Rick Pollitt should not go “outside the box” in the current circumstances other than the notion that to meet with the Council at its request would depart from the common practice (according to Mr. Fineran) in other counties. That attitude, in a word, is absurd.

Flag Day

Banners are symbol of freedom their seamstresses hope to regain

From the State House to the courthouse, the Stars-and-Stripes flying this Flag Day morning and throughout the year may be a symbol of "liberty and justice for all." But the women who sewed them lost their liberty a good while ago in Maryland's justice system.

The flags flown by government agencies in Maryland are hand-stitched by the inmates of the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women in Jessup, women who expect their work will bring them closer to freedom.

What's The Most Extreme Thing You've Done To Save Money?

Experts: Gulf Workers’ Levels of Chemical Exposure May Be ‘Perfectly Legal, But Not Safe’

When we—and others—have asked about the health concerns of cleanup workers in the Gulf, BP’s response has been that extensive air sampling is being done, and that none of the samples have shown levels of chemical exposure that go beyond federal exposure limits set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

That may be true. What the company doesn’t mention, however, is that some of the samples [PDF] have come back with exposure levels that exceed different federal limits—limits set by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, an agency that’s part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Game On: Iranian 'Aid' Ships Head For Gaza

Iran is sending aid ships to blockaded Gaza, state radio said on Monday -- a move likely to be considered provocative by Israel which accuses Tehran of arming the Palestinian enclave's Islamist rulers, Hamas.

One ship left port on Sunday and another will depart by Friday, loaded with food, construction material and toys, the report said. The boats would be part of international efforts to break Israel's isolation of the Gaza Strip.

"Until the end of the Gaza blockade, Iran will continue to ship aid," said an official at Iran's Society for the Defence of the Palestinian Nation.

While Israel has long suspected Iran, which rejects the Jewish state's right to exist, of supplying weapons to Hamas, Tehran says it only provides moral support to the group.

NAACP Urges Hallmark To Pull 'Racist' Card From Shelves

LOS ANGELES --- A space-themed, talking Hallmark graduation card is being pulled from store shelves because of the card’s reference to a black hole.

But members of the Los Angeles NAACP say the message sounds like "black whore" in the card's audio recording. That's how they hear it, and they say it's racist, KABC-TV in Los Angeles reported.

"That was very demeaning to African-American women when it made reference to African-American women as whores, and at the end it says 'watch your back,'" said Leon Jenkins of the Los Angeles NAACP.

The Hallmark card reads, "Hey world, we are officially putting you on notice," before playfully touting the ambitious future of the new graduate.

Fernando Guerrero Opponent

Although there has been much speculation about Fernando Guerrero's opponent, it is now final that a deal has been struck with the team of Ishe"Sugar Shay"Smith 27-3 of Las Vegas NV. Smith is best known for his appearances on the boxing series "The Contender".

Of the three loses Smith has never been stopped and most recently went 10 rounds with highly touted middleweight prospect Daniel Jacobs. Guerero's last opponent Michael Walker, who was stopped in 2 rounds by Guerrero, also went 10 rounds with Jacobs.

Smith has held the USBA, WBO, NABO and WBC Titles and defeated Randall Bailey 27-3 in a unanimous decision.

Team Guerrero has been looking at a number of potential opponents, including Alco Garcia of Colorado when a release was made that Smith was the opponent. " It was a little awkward because we were still looking close at opponents and had not made any decision, when all of a sudden we heard that someone had put out that Smith was our opponent. Now that the deal is complete and Smith is the opponent, I feel much better because we always want to make sure that only accurate information is put out there. It just happened to work out this time. "Said Hal Chernoff" Manager for Team Guerrero.

"Smith is a very tough, seasoned guy who has been on the big stage and is very well known, especially from the contender series. He is exactly what we need, opposition at a higher level. Camp is starting out well for Fernando and we hope to keep everything online and in order to take this next step". Chernoff added.

The fight titled, "The Best of The Best" is scheduled for July 16th and will be held in Memphis TN. at the Desoto Civic Center. "Showtime" will televise the bout worldwide with Guerrero as the Main event.

A number people are making plans to attend the fight. Anyone wanting tickets can call Brian Young at 615-491-1284. Young can also give advise on lodging, transportation or any other details of the fight.

Easton Post Office Meeting

Joe,

Quick update. I have been informed that the meeting to close the Easton Mail Hub has been changed to 6:00 p.m. on June 15th, not 7:00 p.m. We need to go and support the fact that we do not want this mail hub to be closed. Our geographical location is indeed unique. It is in no way effective to have to mail a letter to Salisbury from Ocean City and have it go to Baltimore to be post marked instead of in Easton. Think of the delays that this will create. The increase in tolls, traffic, snow in the winter, Bay Bridge closing for various reasons and the loss of jobs this will create is not justified. I really hope that people will plan on attending. I don't know if any our Representatives will be attending or not; however, we can't afford to lose more jobs on the Lower Shore. I do not work for the Post Office, but I feel very strongly that this is a huge mistake.

Media Blackout On Gulf Disaster?

Michael Vick At Snow Hill High School Tonight

I was really interested in getting some serious feedback on this situation that is brewing about Snow Hill High School entertaining Michael Vick on Monday at 6:00 at the school campus which is not open to the public and is not represented by any of the local animal shelters, Humane Society's or SPCA'S.

I am sure you are aware of it and I am definitely positive that you are quite a critter lover yourself. Can you help get the word out to everyone to contact the principal at the Snow Hill High School...410-632-1658 and just let them know how they feel about it. I don't want to get all riled up but that POS needs to stay in Philly - he has no business being around the kids down here.

Looking For A New Hangout

I met with friends last night for a few drinks after work. We went straight to the deck because of the nice weather.

Besides our table, there was only one other table occupied about 4 tables away. We asked our server if there was a designated smoking area. I mean, after all, we WERE outside. She was very nice about it but said she was sorry but we would have to go out to the parking lot.

I understand that it is not fair to a non-smoker to be forced to try and eat while someone next to them is puffing away. The non-smoker also has the right to eat outside if they choose. What tickled me was, as they ate, they were constantly swatting flies away. Given a choice, I would have taken the smoke over the flies. At least inside, there were no flies or smoke.

Now I am sure that I am not the only one who enjoys a cigarette with a nice cold beer on a hot, sunny day. When one of us decided to go to the parking lot, we had to ask the others to watch our food and or drinks to make sure that the server would not take them away. Yes, we could smoke and drink but not at the same time because you can't take your drink with you. Had I gone out by myself, instead of with friends, I may have even come back in to my table only to find someone else had come in and sat down.

I am NOT naming the place where we went because I am not bashing it. The food and service was excellent!

This is my question. Is there any place in Salisbury that DOES have an outside area where you can smoke while having a few drinks and not have to leave the table and friends? I agree with the no smoking inside laws. But outside where the breeze will dissipate the smoke and not fill up the entire area?

I guess the next time we get together, it will be at my home where smokers won't have to go to their cars. I guess we will have to skip the wonderful food and service like we had last night because I can't afford to cook for a lot and at my house, the service is help yourself!

I see a BYOB get together coming up real soon and am sorry that the place we went to last night will lose our money even if it was only about $190.00 or more between the 8 of us.

This was only the 2nd time I have been there and honestly did not know that you were not allowed to smoke on the deck. The deck was closed the last time I was there because it was winter.

And So It Begins

"On the 9th of this month we saw a coyote in our backyard on S. Tourmaline Dr. I called the Humane Society and they told me to call Sheriff's Office, they in turn told me to call ABC. I did and spoke with Mark Leggett."

Who didn't know this was going to happen. No sooner did we receive information that the Humane Society was going to pass off certain calls to the Sheriff's Office, the buck is being passed off to other organizations.

The end result, NOTHING. There is now a wild coyote, (yes, they are known to be in this area) roaming the Rockawalkin area. Someone needs to trap this animal and relocate it to an area in which it can survive in the WILD.

A Letter To The Editor

My name is Michelle Davis. I purchased a 2009 Ford Focus from Preston Ford on June 11, 2009 (a year ago this Friday).

I have had nothing but trouble with this car with no end in sight, it just keeps getting worse.

When the car was delivered to me I noticed rust on the steering column as well as under the hood and on the inside of the door as well as two very strange marks on the passenger doors. Preston Ford's response to this was that it was normal considering that we live on the eastern shore.

They told me to make an appt for the detailing since they did not have time to do the detailing before they delivered the vehicle plus my free tank of gas, so I did. When I got there I waited for two hours and then they informed me that I would have to come back when they were not so busy. I had an appt. I'm sorry, (they said) I asked if I could have a loaner since they offer this to there customers. I was told, not for this issue. I was upset but made an appt for the following week. Guess what this time, they said they were running behind schedule. I said look, I'm entitled to a loaner. I'm sorry we do not have one available.

I asked to speak to Dave Jr., he's not available but we'll take a message for him and get him to call you back. Several/a lot of messages later, no contact. So I decided to take the car to their other Ford Dealership in Pittsville, they seemed to be a lot nicer. By this time the vehicle was due for an oil change, (which they did) plus the car was starting to have problems mechanically. It had funny sounds coming from it also it felt like it was always being driven in neutral . They did the oil change but came back and told me they could not duplicate these concerns I was having at this time. Sometimes the problem has to get worse before it can get better. I could not believe what Iwas hearing. I heard those same words years ago from a GM Dealership.

I asked if they could handle the detailing at least that was due to me via a signed document from the Preston group. I'm sorry, you will have to take it to Preston since the car was not purchased here. I decided I would just pay for the detailing myself and send a bill to Preston.

During this time my temp tags was one day away from expiring I contacted the tag dept and was told the lady that handles this was gone so guess what, they finally put Dave Jr on the phone. He said he was sorry about what happened but he would get the lady to handle the tag situation when she returned. By then it would be to late. I told him I was going to MVA to purchase my Chesapeake tags that I had already paid Preston for, I would send him the bill as well as the bill for the detailing and the tank of gas that was due to me. He said that was fine.

The next day guess what, I received tags in the mail. I called up and the lady that was gone was back and told me that I would have to return my tags and use the ones they sent and I would not be getting any money back. I contacted Niel Murrey the salesman and he said if I contact the dealership or come to any of there other dealerships I would be arrested. I said for what, he said harassment.

I finally got reimbursement from Preston for the tags and the detailing and gas. I was done with this place contacted Ford. They said to take my car to Sherwood. At first they seemed way to nice to be true. I was right. They changed my oil rotated the tires. When I left, the car started feeling rough and bumpy the rpm gage was staying between 2-3, normal is under 1 and a loud metal grinding sound when I would accelerate.

I took it back in 4 days later at Sherwood. I was told all my tires were overinflated 7 pounds each, causing the tires to feather and told me I would have to pay to get new tires. I said, you were the ones who over inflated the tires. So Kevin Sheffield the service manager told me they would replace them under my warranty, all 4 tires and align the vehicle as for the grinding sound they replaces a part in the front axle. I waited, (it seemed way to quick for them to have done all of this in such a short time) when I went to get into my vehicle as well as my mother, we both noticed the same gravel from my moms driveway in the vehicle. The tires looked the same, they did not have that new look or new smell tires always have.

I asked Paul Stewart service advisor if they replaced all the tires. He responded, yes mam all 4 tires are new. I asked if I could have paperwork for my records, he brought out Kevin Sheffield. Kevin said he would give me the paperwork when I received a survey in the mail. Bring it in with everything checked out satisfactory and he would personally mail it in.

I never received a survey. I called back 10 days later. The lady answered the phone and told me he would mail the paperwork for the tires to me. Finally after month of waiting my mother finally got the paperwork slammed at her. One paper they tried to keep but my mother grabbed it back and stated they only put two tires on the car and this paper is dated a day after they supposedly put the tires on.

I made an appt because the car was still having problems. I was told by Paul Stewart at Sherwood they could not duplicate the concerns at this time (this line must be something they are trained to say). He told me that the problems are all in my head and I need to learn how to drive a ford (I'm 34. I've been driving for 18 years and have perfect driving record also correct me if I'm wrong is there a special driving course on how to drive a Ford).

I contacted Ford corporate office and they finally, (after months of me complaining and taking the vehicle back to Sherwood) agreed to send a service rep down to look at the car and test drive it with me. The day I was going to this appt my chocolate lab coco collapsed and before the vet opened for me to take her there she passed away. I was heartbroken very very upset but I still went out to the dealership, tears in tow. I said to Kevin I need to walk this off, how long before the rep needs me to go riding with him. He said at least 30 minutes, so I walked the lot and came back about 10-15 minutes later and went into the waiting room.

Kevin came in later and told me that the service rep would be in shortly. Then Kevin comes back in and says the rep has found that my oil needs to be changed, its never been changed here. He said, take a look at my paperwork again and look at the sticker on the windshield. He had a puzzled look on his face. Also, he added my engine is dirty and needed to be cleaned, which I would have to pay for but keep in mind this may and probably won't solve your concerns. I asked where is the service rep, I was supposed to go on ride with him in the vehicle. He's gone, Kevin replied and shrugged his shoulder.

I was very upset to say the least. Every body in that service dept had a very scared look on there faces. I contacted Ford and they said I should have rode with him. Kevin told Ford I refused to ride with him. Kevin finally admitted to my brother that he had no intentions of letting me speak nor ride with the Ford rep. He said the rep's name was Darryl Huff. When I contacted Ford they claim there is nobody in there employee records by that name. I'm starting to think there was no rep that came down.

Shortly before the car was taken in for this rep to look at I was delivering an arrangement to put on my fathers grave site at Parsons. When I was en route there the car would not go went I accelerated so I went to push down again the it zoomed real fast. I pushed on the brakes causing the arrangement to fly up cutting my forehead causing stitches and now a scar. Thank God, it could have been worse.

Now guess what, one of the tires has blown. Luckily I must have known something about driving a Ford to avoid being in an accident.

I get a letter stating that they will pull off the parts to my car and test them then if it goes to trial they will keep the parts till after trial, then if nothing is found wrong or they win in court I will have to pay to have the car repaired.

This car is still very much in warranty. I'm still fighting to get Ford to buy back this lemon. My mom contacted Bruce Rogers, he won't call back. She finally got hold of Mike Burto last Friday and he said that he would address this matter Monday. He would get in very early in the morning, he hasn't returned any of the messages.

I honestly can't take this anymore. I rented a car for a while but I can't afford to make car payments and rent a car too. I feel something really bad is going to happen if I keep driving the car. Everybody is hiding whats wrong with car it obviously can't be fixed. I think Sherwood is hoping I will die so they are in the clear. I have a cleaning business so I can't walk with my mops and brooms cleaners etc, so I have no choice but to drive this car.

If anybody can please help, contact me at 410-749-2123 or email me at echostar2@verizon.net

Stimulus Payment

Sometime this year, we taxpayers will again receive another 'Economic Stimulus' payment.

This is indeed a very exciting program, and I'll explain it by using a Q & A format:

Q. What is an 'Economic Stimulus' payment ?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q.. Where will the government get this money ?
A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money ?
A. Only a smidgen of it.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment ?
A. The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China ?
A. Shut up.

GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY WELCOMES HOME MARYLAND VETERANS FROM ACTIVE DUTY

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Martin O’Malley welcomed home more than 100 Army Reserve Soldiers and several hundred Maryland National Guard Airmen yesterday at two separate ceremonies. The Governor began at Fort McHenry with a welcome home to 112 Army Reserve Soldiers from Alpha Company, 323rd Military Intelligence Battalion, who Governor O’Malley met with in February during a Department of Defense-sponsored mission in Iraq. Later, the Governor participated in a welcome home celebration for several hundred Airmen from the Maryland National Guard, each of whom served more than 30 consecutive days for Operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom and other contingency operations.

“Our Soldiers and Airmen, each and every one of them, have given a gift to our country, serving where they were asked, saving lives, and delivering hope to those who need it most; what a great American once called an ‘example of individual liberty fused with common effort,’” said Governor O’Malley. “Their devotion to this country, their efforts, their character, and their leadership were needed in our community before they left, and are needed here at home even more now. We are so grateful to have these heroes back home.”

Governor O’Malley visited with Maryland-based Army Reserve A Company of the 323rd Military Intelligence Battalion while in Iraq on a Department of Defense-sponsored mission in February. Soldiers are returning after completing one year of deployment where the unit supported the Multi-National Corps-Iraq and United States Forces-Iraq Commanding General. Alpha, 323rd Soldiers supported multiple regional and analytical missions providing critical and timely information to the Commanding General and Staff of USF-I. Members include 25 Marylanders.

“The 323rd Military Intelligence Battalion is extremely pleased to recognize the faithful service of its Alpha Company citizen-warriors returning from a successful 400-day deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom,” said Lt. Col. Karl E. Nell, Commander for the 323rd Battalion. “Following in the same tradition of self-sacrifice made famous by the defenders of Fort McHenry which helped preserve the Nation in 1814, our returning Soldiers have contributed markedly as silent professionals to missions of the highest National importance in theater. We are thankful that all have returned home safely and in confident knowledge of a job well done.”

The Maryland National Guard has deployed 1,725 Airmen in support of missions around the world since the attacks of September 11, 2001. Governor O’Malley and Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran, have championed veterans causes particularly related to soldiers returning from active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since launching the Veterans Behavioral Health Initiative last year, the O’Malley Brown Administration has invested $3.1 million to make these critical mental health services available for all Maryland veterans. The Maryland Higher Education Commission led the way in creating Maryland’s first ever scholarship program for returning veterans and the O’Malley Brown Administration has since provided $2.1 million to put the dream of a college education within reach for our veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, including $750,000 for the current fiscal year. The O’Malley Brown Administration helped to secure more than $2 million in State and Federal funds for critical reintegration programs that are easing the transition from active duty to civilian life for our veterans who have proudly served their country.

“Our men and women in uniform have answered the call to serve their country,” said Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger, who attended both welcome home celebrations with the Governor. “These heroes put their lives on the line around the globe, so we can enjoy freedom and liberty here at home. We are grateful they have returned home safely. I am sure the families of the military personnel are grateful, too, and are incredibly proud of a job well done.”

“As a member of the House Armed Services Committee I was honored to spend this past Memorial Day with members of our Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan, and today I am just as honored to welcome these service men and women home and thank them for their service,” said Congressman Frank Kratovil, who also attended the Welcome Home ceremony at Fort McHenry. “Today, as these soldiers return home to Maryland we pause to remember what they have done on behalf of our freedom and our way of life, and we join their families in thanking God for their safe return. We all owe each of them a debt that cannot be repaid and we must continue to do everything in our power to fully equip and train our troops with whatever is needed to perform their missions safely and efficiently so that they can return home to their families sooner and safer.”

“The accomplishments of the Maryland Air National Guard since September 11, 2001 have added a distinguished chapter to an already stellar record of achievement,” said Brig. Gen. James A. Adkins, adjutant general of Maryland. “Their most recent operations in Afghanistan provided critical support to American forces and allies alike. Time and time again the Maryland Air Guard has answered our nation's call and we all should be proud of their contributions to keep us safe here at home.”

More than 21,000 Marylanders have deployed since the attacks of September 11, 2001 as active duty troops of all branches and components of the Armed Forces. There are currently 1,901 soldiers and airmen, including 808 reserves, on active duty from Maryland. In 2007, Maryland’s 58th Infantry Brigade Combat Team mobilized and deployed to Iraq in what was the largest deployment of combat Soldiers since World War II.

Of those who deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan or Kuwait, 116 Marylanders have died, 86 of them in active theater in Iraq. Five of these were Maryland National Guard Soldiers who died as a result of operations in Iraq.

TROOPERS ARREST CECIL CO. MAN FOR MURDER OF HIS WIFE

(Elkton, MD) – Maryland State Police have arrested and charged a Cecil County man who is believed to have murdered his wife in their Elkton home this morning.

The accused is identified as Jason M. Costello, 24, of the 1900-block of Stone Gate Blvd., Elkton, Md. After consultation with the Cecil County State’s Attorney’s Office, he was charged tonight with first degree murder, second degree murder, first and second degree assault, use of a deadly weapon, and four counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Costello is being taken to the Cecil County central booking center late tonight, where he will await an initial appearance before a court commissioner.

The victim is identified as Ashley N. Costello, 24, of the same address, who was the wife of the accused. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

Shortly before 10:00 a.m. today, Maryland State Police at the North East Barracks received a 911 call from someone who said they heard a woman screaming inside the residence later identified as the Costello home. Responding troopers saw blood on a window of the residence and they, along with a Cecil County deputy, made an immediate forced entry through the front door.

Troopers found a female lying in the living room with what appeared to be stab wounds to her neck. Continuing their search of the residence, they found a locked bathroom door and forcibly opened it. Sitting on the bathroom floor was a man, later identified as Jason Costello, who was holding a knife and bleeding from what appeared to be knife wounds on his wrists. It appeared he was in the process of injecting a substance intravenously with a syringe. Police ordered him to drop the knife and he complied.

Responding ambulance personnel determined Ashley Costello was dead. They transported Jason Costello to Union Hospital in Elkton, where he was treated for cuts and then released to troopers later today.

After obtaining a search warrant, Maryland State Police Homicide Unit investigators and crime scene technicians processed the crime scene. They found blood throughout the residence and recovered two large knives, both of which will be sent, along with other evidence, to the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Laboratory for processing. Also found were numerous syringes and baggies of suspected drugs which will also be analyzed.

The State Police Homicide Unit was assisted by criminal investigators from the North East and Bel Air barracks. Troopers interviewed neighbors and were told the victim and accused were often heard arguing. They learned the couple had two children, ages four and one. Troopers were able to locate the children, who were staying with the victim’s mother in Delaware. Troopers from the Delaware State Police confirmed the children were okay.

A motive for the murder has not been clearly identified at this time. The preliminary investigation indicates the couple may have recently moved to the area from Colorado. Both were said to have been unemployed.

Canadian Prediction On Obama

Ever wonder why we have to depend on the Foreign Press to find out what's "really" going on in our own country. It's a good thing that Obama and the democrats don't own the Canadian press. Here is what Howard Galganov predicts for Barack Hussein Obama - PLEASE READ:

Barack Hussein Obama: "I Told You So, Yes I Did! "By: Howard Galganov - Montreal, Quebec, Canada
When Obama won the Presidency with the help of the LEFTIST media, Hollywood And Entertainment Liberals, Ethnic Socialists (ACORN), Stupid Non-Business Professionals and Bush Haters, I wrote: It won't take six months until the People figure this guy out and realize how horrible a mistake they've made. And when they come to that realization, the damage to the United States of America will be so great it will take a generation or more to repair - IF EVER.
The IDIOTS who not only voted for the Messiah, but also worked hard to promote his Lordship, are now left holding the bag. Here are two things they will NEVER do:

1. They will NEVER admit to making a blunder out of all proportion by electing a snake-oil salesman with no positive social history or management experience of any kind.

2. They will NEVER take responsibility for the curse they've imposed upon the immediate and long-term future of their country. In essence, the people responsible for putting this horror show in power are themselves responsible for every cataclysmic decision he makes and the consequences thereof. In just six months, the Messiah's polls are showing the following:

1. On Healthcare Reform - He's going under for the third time with polling well Under 50 percent, even within his own Party. Even though he might be able to Muscle a Healthcare Reform Bill by using Chicago BULLY tactics against his Fellow Democrats, it will just make things worse.

2. On Cap and Trade (Cap and Tax) - The Fat-Lady is already singing.

3. On the Stimulus Package (Tax and Spend) - His popularity is in FREE-FALL.

4. On the TARP package he took and ran with from President Bush - It's all but Good-Night Irene.

5. On the closing of GITMO and "HIS" war on what he no longer wants called the War On Terrorism - He's standing in quicksand with his head just about to go under.

6. On a Comparison between himself and George W. Bush at the same six months into Their respective first term Presidencies - Bush is ahead of him in the Polls.

7. On a comparison between He Who Walks On Water and the 12 preceding Presidents between WW II and now Obama ranks 10th.

8. On a Poll just Conducted, that asks who would you vote for today between Obama and Mitt Romney - It's a dead heat. Between Obama and Palin - Obama's ONLY ahead by 8 Points and she hasn't even begun to campaign. It seems to me that Obama Wants to be everywhere where he shouldn't be.

He's personally invested in 'totally insulting' America's ONLY REAL Middle Eastern ally ( Israel ) in favor of Palestinian Despots and Murderers. He's traveling the world apologizing for the USA while lecturing others on how to do it right, when in fact and truth he has no experience at doing anything other than getting elected.

He went to the Muslim world in Egypt to declare that America IS NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION while he heaped praises on Islam, where he compared the "plight" of the Palestinians to the Holocaust.

a.) The Russians think he's a putz.
b.) The French think he's rude.c.) The Germans want him to stop spending.d.) The Indians want him to mix his nose out of their environmental business.
e.) The North Koreans think he's a joke.
f.) The Iranians won't acknowledge his calls.
g.) The British can't even come up with a comprehensive opinion of him.h.) As for the Chinese, he's too frightened to even glance their way. [After All, China now owns a large portion of the United States.

Maybe if America's first Emperor would stay home more, travel less, and work a little bit instead of being on television just about everyday or stop running to "papered" Town Hall Meetings, perhaps he would have a little bit of time to do the work of the nation.

In all fairness, it wasn't HARD to be RIGHT in my prediction concerning Obama's presidency, even in its first six months, so I'm going to make yet another prediction:

OBAMA WILL PROBABLY NOT FINISH HIS 4-YEAR TERM, at least not in a Conventional way.

He is such a political HORROR SHOW, and so detrimental to the USA and his Own Democratic Party, that the Democrats themselves will either FORCE him to Resign or figure out a way to have him thrown out.

Or - MORE LIKELY THAN NOT, the Democrats will make Obama THEIR OWN LAME DUCK PRESIDENT.

I don't believe the Democrats have nearly as much love for their country as they do for their own political fortunes. And with Obama, their fortunes are rapidly becoming toast.
