AOC to VP Pence: ‘It’s Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez to you’

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appeared to be closely watching the vice presidential debate Wednesday night, tweeting several responses to comments by Vice President Mike Pence during his confrontation against Sen. Kamala Harris.

Particularly irking the New York Democrat seemed to be Pence’s reference to her by her widely used nickname “AOC.”

“For the record @Mike_Pence, it’s Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez to you,” Ocasio-Cortez responded on Twitter.

Portland mayoral candidate spotted with skirt featuring photos of communist leaders

A photo of the leading candidate for mayor of Portland, Ore., has resurfaced showing her wearing a skirt patterned with the faces of famous Communist dictators.

Sarah Iannarone — who, like all other candidates in the race, is unaffiliated with a political party — can be seen in the photo, shared earlier this week by independent journalist Andy Ngo, wearing a skirt covered in the faces of Che Guevara, Mao Zedong and Joseph Stalin.

Iannarone is beating incumbent Mayor Ted Wheeler in the race, which uses a nonpartisan voting system in local elections, by upward of 11 points, according to the latest survey from local newspaper Willamette Week, published Monday.

The mother and Portland State University educator paired her Communist garb with a shirt from her campaign merchandise, bearing her first name.

Beside her posed an unidentified man with spiked hair, an odd-fitting white suit, and what appeared to be a black shirt and clerical collar.

A representative for Iannarone did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

The progressive candidate told the Willamette Week late last month that she supported defunding the police, stating, “We must listen to our BIPOC community on issues impacting them most.”

Republicans baffled by Pelosi's 25th Amendment suggestion, say she wants to 'stage a coup'

Republicans were baffled by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Thursday suggestion that she might introduce a bill allowing a body appointed by Congress to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office as he recovers from the novel coronavirus.
The 25th Amendment allows for the vice president to become acting president if it is determined that the president "is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office." Currently, the vice president and cabinet can invoke that amendment.

"Tomorrow, by the way, tomorrow, come here tomorrow," Pelosi said. "We're going to be talking about the 25th Amendment."

Pelosi was referring to a bill she will unveil Friday with Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., that would allow Congress to establish a permanent body to determine whether the president is fit for office: an Oversight Commission on Presidential Capacity. The bill is expected to reflect legislation that Raskin introduced in 2017.

Still, Pelosi would have to convince Senate Republicans to go along with it. Plus, Vice President Mike Pence would also have to sign the declaration as well, which would be highly unlikely.

President Trump Announces He Will Not Participate in Next Debate After Presidential Debate Commission Changes Debate Format to Virtual to Help Joe Biden

The Commission on Presidential Debates changed the format for the next debate without consulting the President.

The second presidential debate between President Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden will be virtual, the Commission for Presidential Debates said Thursday.

The change follows President Trump last week testing positive for the coronavirus.

The president said after the announcement that he would not participate.

“I’m not going to waste my time on a virtual debate. It’s not what debating is all about,” Trump reportedly said on the Fox Business Channel. “It’s ridiculous.”

The event will be at town hall style meeting with Trump and Biden at remote locations.

President Trump says the Commission is trying to help Biden.

The President said he will opt for a rally instead.

Transit officials and city and state leaders condemned the shooting and called for an end to what they described as "these senseless acts of violence."

"Attacking an essential worker during a global pandemic is the epitome of depravity," Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young wrote on Twitter following the attack. "We must have an end to these senseless acts of violence and as a city, we must find other ways to cope instead of resorting to violence."

These 13 men were charged with conspiring to kidnap Whitmer: Here's what we know

Federal authorities say six men helped orchestrate a plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer from her vacation home before the Nov. 3 election. The six were arrested and placed in custody, charged with multiple felonies that could result in life in prison for some if convicted.

State officials also charged seven different men in connection to related activities of the Wolverine Watchmen, a militia group accused of attempting to commit several crimes, including kidnapping public officials.

All 13 defendants or their attorneys could not be reached immediately for comment.

State law enforcement authorities wrote in court documents that "the Wolverine Watchmen have called on members to identify law enforcement officers' home addresses in order to target the officers, have made threats of violence to instigate a civil war leading to societal collapse, and have engaged in planning and training for an operation to attack the Capitol of Michigan, and kidnap Government officials including the Governor of Michigan."
