Beating The Odds...

Many said, you'll never survive opening your doors in the winter, they were wrong. Caribbean Joe's, (thanks to so many of you) is a great success. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is exactly what west Ocean City needed.

When you spend a day where the bar is standing room only, well, I'd say I was right, they were wrong.

Come see why so many people are traveling 30+ miles just to experience a great time/food. Today we'll feature Golf, NASCAR, $1.50 tacos, (unlike other local establishments charging $9.95 for just a taco and $1.00 extra for each topping like cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream) and so forth.

We swing our doors at 11:00 AM and look forward to seeing you.

Larry Hogan: The chance of Trump losing a general election in 2020 is 'pretty good'

Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan predicted Tuesday President Trump may struggle to win re-election in 2020.

"The issue I'm concerned about is he has a very low re-elect number, I think in the 30s, high 30s, low 40s. So the chance of him losing a general election are pretty good. I'm not saying he couldn't win but he's pretty weak in the general election," Hogan told CBS News in an interview set to air in full Wednesday.

"At some point if he weakens further, Republicans would say we're concerned about whether or not he's going to win if we're going to face a very far-left Democratic nominee, and is he going to take the rest of us down with him if you're an elected official," he said.

Live From Ocean City Maryland

It's 9:40 AM, the roads were covered with brine yesterday morning, schools have closed for the day throughout the Eastern Shore and now the weight of the snow on my trees could be jeopardizing the structural integrity of each branch. I have no milk, no chains for my tires and like so many thousands of you, I'm screwed.

I know, it's my fault. I should've listened to Dan Satterfield and all the different Board of Education branches when I heard last night Schools were closing. Call me stupid, I get it. Some of my business friends were frantic this morning calling in their employees because they too listened to the devastating forecasts and many businesses told their employees not to come in to work today.

Then there's those poor state employees being forced to sit in those big dump trucks with the motors running in WaWa and Royal farms parking lots all night long waiting for that big storm to slam us to no end.

Well, if worse comes to worst it's only a half mile walk to the closest store where I can get the supplies I need to survive the blizzard of 2019. I'll check on my elderly neighbors first, (might I recommend you do the same).

You people be safe out there and don't miss Dan's updated forecast at noon on WBOC. I'm telling you, this storm could be a real hum dinger. Does WalMart sell tin hats?

Marijuana-impaired driving spikes in Maryland, police say

WASHINGTON — As more states decriminalize marijuana, Maryland State Police are seeing a large jump in the number of weed-related impaired driving crashes and violations.

“We have marijuana seizures, I feel like, on a daily basis,” said trooper Samuel Jackson, in an interview with NBC Washington.

“With marijuana we’re looking for bloodshot red, glassy eyes, dilated pupils, drooping eyelids, slow exaggerated movements.”

The number of vehicle crashes investigated by state police that were linked to marijuana nearly doubled from 2017 to 2018, and the number of violations related to pot jumped nearly 40-percent.

Virginia and D.C. don’t keep data that distinguishes whether drivers were impaired by marijuana or alcohol, but D.C. police records show a nearly 10 percent increase in impaired driving arrests between 2017 and 2018.

The NBC report included information from Colorado, where marijuana was decriminalized in 2013.

“We saw about a 74 percent increase in fatal crashes, between 2013 and now,” said Aurora, Colorado police officer Kevin Deichsel. “And marijuana has been a part of that.”

Report: Americans Using Too Much Toilet Paper, Heating Planet

Americans use more toilet paper than anyone else in the world, helping destroy the habitats of native people who live where it is sourced and contributing to global warming, a research study said on Wednesday.

U.S. consumers use roughly three rolls of toilet paper a week, accounting for a fifth of the world's tissue consumption, according to the report by environmental groups Stand.earth and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

Single-use tissue products such as toilet paper used in the United States are made from wood pulp, mostly derived from logging in the old-growth northern, or boreal, forest in Canada, where logging companies clear-cut more than a million acres (405,000 hectares) every year, the NRDC said.

READ ME. This came from facebook. It's about the Fruitland City manager

Michelle Milad Royal

To the (curse word ..curse word ..curse word) that stole my little free library-may you (curse word .. curse word..) I hope you really wanted it because the children from the school down the street and the family that used the books to learn English.. will surely miss it...
Today I hate people....
If anyone sees it please let me know!!!
If ya can please repost!!!!

UPDATE...The police investigated and they found out that the Fruitland city manager decided that it wasn’t used enough so he went onto my private property and stole my little private library. The police officer found out that a city of fruitland truck took it away then was able to track down one of the drivers who told him directly that the city manager told him to do this and dispose of the library. So they threw away the library and the books inside. The police officer has reported it stolen and tomorrow I will go press charges.
So be careful of your bikes, scooters or anything else on your lawn that appears that no one is using at the moment because according to the city manager at fruitland, he can just pick it up and throw it away

Another update... received an email from the city manager and he admitted that he had city employees commit the theft but meant no malicious intent -WHAT WAS HIS INTENT THEN???and he was going to TRY and get it back ... even if he goes and gets it from the dump, I can’t imagine what it looks like after being slammed in a front loader, driven around and dumped in the land fill... I am stunned he even admitted to it ! I also asked where were the books that were inside and he had no answer...

Md.'s Larry Hogan Not Ruling Out Primary Challenge to Trump

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is not ruling out challenging President Donald Trump in the Republican primaries.

His comments came in an interview with CBS News.

Hogan is being encouraged by some anti-Trump conservative to go up against the president in the primaries, the network news noted.

"I was just sworn in a month ago for my second term … I've got a lot of work to do here in Maryland … I would say I'm being approached from a lot of different people and I guess the best way to put it is, I haven't thrown them out of my office.”

Question Of The Day 2-19-19

Jussie Smollett reportedly paid two men to orchestrate attack

Chicago police now believe “Empire” TV actor Jussie Smollett paid two pals to fake the attack that he has insisted was carried out by a pair of homophobic and racist strangers, according to a stunning new report.

The buddies — body-builder brothers from Nigeria — told cops they purchased the rope for the noose recovered from Smollett’s neck after the attack, Fox’s Chicago affiliate reported Saturday night, citing multiple Chicago law-enforcement sources.

The two are cooperating with the probe, and have turned over to cops the Ace Hardware receipt for their purchase of the rope, Fox 32 reported.

Chicago PD Superintendent Rips "Despicable" Jussie Smollett In Fiery Press Conference

Update2: A visibly angry Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson kicked off the Jussie Smollett presser with a scathing admonishment of the Empire star.

"I just wish that the families of gun violence in this city got this much attention, because that's who really deserves the amount of attention that we're giving to this particular incident," Johnson began.

Powerful words from Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson.

"This morning, I come to you... as a black man who spent his entire life living in the city of Chicago... Jussie Smollett took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career."pic.twitter.com/CEMWx5udY1

— Shelby Holliday (@shelbyholliday) February 21, 2019

Johnson confirmed that Smollett staged the hate crime after a letter he sent to himself did not have the intended effect.

"This stunt was orchestrated by Smollett because he was dissatisfied with his salary so he concocted a story about being attacked," said Johnson, who added "This publicity stunt is a scar this city didn’t deserve."

"Why would anyone, especially an African American man, use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations?"

REAL ID Compliance causing massive delays at MVA

REPOST: We have heard reports of 4 to 5 hour waits at some MVA locations to comply with the REAL ID requirements. Below are the steps needed to take to be sure you are in compliance. Failure to comply may prevent you from flying on a commercial aircraft, entering any Federal building and other restrictions. To mitigate the lines….MAKE AN APPOINTMENT which are currently running about two months out. While October 2020 seems like a long way off, consider that there are approximately 4.5 million drivers in Maryland with only 19 locations to handle this transaction. It cannot be handled by mail or kiosk or through an independent agent.

In the wake of 911, the Federal Government established theREAL ID Act which made it a priority that individual states verify the identity of their residents. Since most people will drive or have a state issued ID card, the logical vehicle to implement this is through the Motor Vehicle Administration. Your existing license may be compliant, but more likely than no, it is not.

So what happens with a non-compliant license? You will be turned away at any TSA checkpoint in airports across the country (if you have a passport, you should be OK), you will not be allowed to enter any federal buildings, military bases or nuclear facilities.

Coast Guard officer in Md. accused of stockpiling weapons for planned attack

BALTIMORE — Federal agents arrested a self-proclaimed white nationalist and lieutenant in the Coast Guard on gun and drug charges, accusing him of plotting a massive domestic terror attack against politicians and journalists.

On Friday, FBI agents and Coast Guard Investigative Service officials arrested Christopher Hasson, 49, of Silver Spring, on federal charges of possession of firearms and ammunition by an unlawful user or addict of controlled substances and possession of tramadol.

Federal officials said agents found a stash of weapons and ammunition in Hasson's Silver Spring apartment.

Court documents claim Hasson wrote in an email, "I am dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on Earth." Prosecutors said in a detention document that Hasson intended "to murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country."

The documents claim Hasson was stockpiling supplies for more than a year and had a spreadsheet of targets.

Cardi B: Jussie Smollett 'f--ked Up' Black History Month

Rapper Cardi B said she was "disappointed" in Jussie Smollett and says the "Empire" actor "fucked up" Black History Month in a livestream Instagram video over the Presidents Day holiday weekend.

“So, I’m really disappointed in Jussie Smollett, whatever the fuck his name is. I’m really disappointed in him. I feel like he fucked up Black History Month, bro," Cardi B said. "I’m not gonna say … yet, until he said out his mouth that it was fake and this shit was staged. I don’t wanna completely blame him, because, you know, like, somebody that I was talking to, they said, like, you know, police in Chicago are racist, so they might probably try and frame him and make him look like he’s a liar, but if he's not, then bro, you fucked up, for real.”

She said if Smollett faked his alleged "MAGA" assault in Chicago, he would effectively give President Trump "immunity to laugh at fucking n----s and shit." Cardi B went on to recount her own experience with police, recounting a years-old road rage incident about which she claims police twisted the story even though she admitted she never provided police with a statement.

Bernie Sanders Announces 2020 Presidential Run

Senator Bernie Sanders, the Vermont independent and 2016 Democratic primary runner-up whose populist policy agenda has helped push the party to the left, announced on Tuesday that he was running for president again, embarking on a bid that will test whether he can retain the anti-establishment appeal he enjoyed with many liberal voters three years ago.

A self-styled democratic socialist whose calls for “Medicare for all,” a $15 minimum wage and tuition-free public colleges have become pillars of the party’s left wing, Mr. Sanders is among the best-known politicians to join an already crowded Democratic field and one of the most outspoken against President Trump, whom he has repeatedly called a “pathological liar” and a “racist.”

“Three years ago, during our 2016 campaign, when we brought forth our progressive agenda we were told that our ideas were ‘radical’ and ‘extreme,’” Mr. Sanders said on Tuesday in an early-morning email to supporters, citing those health, economic and education policies as well as combating climate change and raising taxes on wealthy Americans.

“Well, three years have come and gone. And, as result of millions of Americans standing up and fighting back, all of these policies and more are now supported by a majority of Americans,” he said.

Another Big Reason Not To Buy A Chinese Smartphone

Given the constant stream of anti-China propaganda (true or not), security and privacy concerns are likely top of mind for many when considering whether a Chinese smartphone will be their next purchase. However, there is, perhaps, an even more important - health-related - reason to think twice...

For most people nowadays, their smartphone is within arm's reach 24 hours a day. It's in their pocket while they're at work, it's in their hand on the train ride home and it's on their bedside table as they go to sleep. And, as Statista's Martin Armstrong notes, with this level of proximity and usage, many can't quite shake the niggling feeling that they might be risking damage to themselves in the long run.

While conclusive longitudinal research on the effects of cell phone radiation is still hard to come by, for those looking to hedge their bets, this infographic shows the phones that emit the most radiation when held to the ear while calling.

The German Federal Office for Radiation Protection (Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz) has a comprehensive database of smartphones - new and old - and the level of radiation they emit.

The current smartphone creating the highest level of radiation is the Mi A1 from Chinese vendor Xiaomi. Another Chinese phone is in second place - the OnePlus 5T. In fact, the two companies are represented heavily in this list, with 8 of the top 16 handsets being made by one of them. Premium Apple phones such as the iPhone 7 and the recently released iPhone 8 are also here to be seen, though, as are the latest Pixel handsets from Google.

While there is no universal guideline for a 'safe' level of phone radiation, the German certification for environmental friendliness 'Der Blaue Engel' (Blue Angel) only certifies phones which have a specific absorption rate of less than 0.60 watts per kilogram. All of the phones featured here come in at more than double this benchmark.

To take a look at the other end of the scale, we also have a list of the phones emitting the least radiation...
