anonymous 11:14, New Age Liberals. I have a couple credit cards that look brand new because they very rarely ever get used and when they do they are paid off before the bill even comes in. Young Americans could learn a thing or two from people like me who know, if you don't have the cash to buy it, don't buy it.
Today's generation has been brain washed into believing credit cards are more convenient. That is, until you have to pay interest. Until you have to go to Mommy and Daddy to help you pay off that debt you can't afford.
How many of you were able to buy your own homes without having to ask your parents for help. My generation will come back and say none. Your generation will act like Liberals and LIE and say none but we know the truth.
its not always just credit cards. 2 of my debit cards were affected by this. i rarely keep cash on me and use the heck out of my debit (not credit) cards. so i'm spending MY money when i shop, not borrowing from a bank.
Joe, like you, I also pay off my credit card each month.
But with crime as high as it is, I certainly do not want my 80 yr old mom carrying a purse full of cash out on a shopping trip.
She is already a target per her age, add a fist full of cash and you can guarantee something will happen to her.

Exactly Joe. The bankers are laughing their heads off at the mentality of 11:14. The chances of getting robbed is next to nothing. The credit card bill coming is a guarantee and the reality is, most don't have the money to pay if off on a monthly basis. This is why the rich keep on getting richer and the poor poorer. Every time that card is swiped you are relining the wallet of those who are already rich.
Cathy, throw those debit cards right in a fire! They are going to be nothing but continued hassles and here's why.
When debt cards first emerged banks were telling everyone they were the best thing since cash. Money was pouring into the banks at a rate of approx. 20 BILLION per year due to fees. In the last several years gov't regulators have stepped in and have limited banks and merchants on what they can charge related to debit cards cutting off the 20 BILLION a year spigot. This has caused security to suffer (while the fraudsters are getting more sophisticated) as unlike with a credit card, debit cards have no federal protections for the consumer.

Repurpose, recycle, how can I make this item work for me? I shopped after Christmas and found items that were 75% off that I could use any time of the year. Have you noticed that this year there are more items left in stores like Boscov's womens clothing than ever before. The economy is the reason... but... if we were to all refuse to shop until things become more reasonable things would change. The mark up on things is HUGE. I too will not purchase anything that I cannot pay for. My home and autos are paid in full and I don't want it any other way. We have become a debit nation and kids don't realize it is a trap. Most of the elderly that have money these days are people who just refused to purchase tings they didn't need and put money away for a rainy day. I suggest trying it ... you will see a major difference in your life... less worry.

Just how many people have gotten their money stolen while out and about in Salisbury? Maybe a few while getting money out of an ATM but how many people have actually paid for something w/cash at a store, someone saw and then robbed them? The word paranoid comes to mind because it does not happen.
