Beaglin Park Drive Improvements to Begin Monday, July 10

As part of the ongoing effort to keep the public informed of improvements within the City of Salisbury, please be advised that a private contractor will be affecting the flow of traffic along Beaglin Park Drive in two locations to conduct repaving operations. The areas from Hannibal Street to South Schumaker Drive, and from Snow Hill Road to College Lane will experience delays during paving operations.

The work will be performed beginning Monday, July 10, 2017, at 7:00 a.m. and will be completed on Friday, July 14, 2017, at 4:30 p.m., barring unforeseen problems or weather delays. Expect minor periodic traffic delays due to traffic pattern modifications between 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated. Should you have any questions or need clarification regarding this project, please contact William White with the Salisbury Department of Infrastructure and Development at 410-548-3170.

Bob Woodward Blasts MSM: "Fair-Mindedness Is Essential If You Want People To Trust You"

After being tripped up by a series of embarrassing events this week, including a "fake news" story which resulted in the "resignation" of three CNN 'journalists' and two undercover videos from Project Veritas which reveal CNN insiders describing their own network's 'Russian collusion' narrative as "mostly bullshit" and "a big nothing burger', the mainstream media has resorted to doing what liberals do best when they get caught...they're playing the victim card.

In case you haven't been made aware, 'progressives' have never, ever been wrong...and if you disagree then you're just a racist, misogynist hate-monger and you need to seek professional help.

In fact, here is a clip from CNN that we shared just yesterday in which grandstanding anchors, after recklessly pushing the fake 'Russian collusion' narrative for months, casually admitted "We can debate collusion. They're right, there's no evidence of that..." and then moments later pre-emptively blamed Trump for any and all future attacks on reporters: "We are going to see a reporter face physical harm because" of President Trump's "declaration of war on the media."

Walking slower is an early sign of cognitive decline

Scientists have long believed that a slower walking pace in older people may be linked to dementia.

Now a team of researchers have identified the changes in the brain which explain why.

They discovered that people who developed slowed walking show a shrinkage of their right hippocampus.

This area of the brain, which is similar in shape to a seahorse, is primarily associated with memory and the ability to maintain posture.

The findings suggest dementia could be treated earlier if doctors regularly measure the walking speeds of older patients and watch for changes over time.

That's according to a 14-year study carried out by experts at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia Police are investigating a disturbing discovery on a North Philadelphia street Monday night.

People walking along the 3100 block of W. Clearfield Street came across an infant- or child-sized casket lying on the sidewalk just after 9 p.m.

“I was pretty shocked,” said Chris James. “It looked like something straight out of ‘Thriller.'”

Officers arrived and opened the casket to find a bag of organs inside, but no body.

Missouri Reverses St. Louis Minimum-Wage Hike

A week ago, we reported on a study from the University of Washington that exposed how the city of Seattle’s progressive minimum wage increases, which began in 2015, are – contrary to the hopes of so many liberals – actually crushing the city’s poor.

Specifically, the study found that higher minimum wages caused a 9.4% reduction to total hours worked by low-skilled workers, or roughly 14 million hours per year. Given that a full-time employee works 2,080 hours per year, that's equivalent to just over 6,700 full-time equivalents who have lost their jobs, just in the city of Seattle.

While the higher minimum wage law remains intact in liberal Washington State - despite the research suggesting that it’s harming Seattle's most vulnerable workers - the Missouri legislature recently acted to prevent a similar catastrophe from playing out in St. Louis by passing what’s known as a preemption law to invalidate a city-approved minimum wage hike that was slated to take effect in late August. The hike would’ve raised the city’s minimum wage to $10 an hour, from the state-approved $7.70.

US schools rethink meal-debt policies that humiliate kids

SANTA FE, N.M. —Teaching assistant Kelvin Holt watched as a preschool student fell to the back of a cafeteria line during breakfast in Killeen, Texas, as if trying to hide.

"The cash register woman says to this 4-year-old girl, verbatim, 'You have no money,'" said Holt, describing the incident last year. A milk carton was taken away, and the girl's food was dumped in the trash. "She did not protest, other than to walk away in tears."

Holt has joined a chorus of outrage against lunchroom practices that can humiliate children as public school districts across the United States rethink how they cope with unpaid student lunch debts.

The U.S. Agriculture Department is requiring districts to adopt policies this month for addressing meal debts and to inform parents at the start of the academic year.

Texas city official 'killed dad and son while high'

A Texas city official has been charged with intoxication manslaughter after admitting that she smoked marijuana before mowing down a father and son, according to authorities.

Dee Ann Haney, 54, was arrested early Monday morning after the deadly accident that took the lives of Van Duoc Le, 59, and his son, 33-year-old Phue Hong Le.

According to law enforcement officials, the two men were standing on the right shoulder of northbound Interstate 45 near the Galveston Causeway just before 1am, trying to secure Plaxiglas in the bed of their black Toyota Tacoma, when Haney rammed them with her white Ford F-150.

NRA Ad, Citing Baltimore Violence, Sparks Controversy

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A recent ad to attract new members to the NRA has created a backlash.

Some say the ad promotes violence, while others say it’s the truth and they are securing their freedoms.

The debate sparked from this NRA message, many call a recruitment video, posted on NRA TV.

“The only way we stop this, the only way we save or country and our freedom, is to fight this violence of lies with a clenched fist of truth. I’m the National Rifle Association of America, and I’m America’s safest place.”

Austria to send troops and armoured vehicles near Italian border to block migrants

Austria has deployed armoured vehicles close to its border with Italy and will send up to 750 soldiers to block any migrants trying to head north, the government announced.

The move reflects deep concern in Vienna and elsewhere in Europe over the huge number of asylum seekers who continue to cross the Mediterranean from Libya – so far this year more than 85,000 have been rescued and brought to Italy.

But it prompted a rebuke from Rome, with the Italian foreign ministry summoning Austria’s ambassador to explain the beefing up of border security. Italy has warned in the past that such measures would contravene EU rules on free movement.

Austria said it would ramp up border controls at the Brenner Pass, a key trade and transport route through the Alps that connects the two countries. "We are ready to protect our Brenner border if necessary,” said Sebastian Kurz, the Austrian foreign minister.

The 750 soldiers could be rushed to the border within 72 hours if there was a migration emergency, officials said. "I expect border controls will be introduced very soon," Peter Doskozil, the defence minister, told the newspaper Kronen Zeitung.

Spanish 1776: Catalonia on Brink of Declaring Independence

A new European nation between Spain and France?

Catalonia, a region of northeastern Spain, will declare immediate independence if voters approve a referendum in October.

The autonomous area best known for the city of Barcelona is controlled by those seeking to forge a new nation separate from Spain.

“If the majority of votes are for creating a Catalan republic, obviously independence will have to be declared immediately,” said Gabriela Serra, a member of the independence coalition governing Catalonia.

Catalonia has always had its own distinctive culture and language (Catalan) – and sovereign nations are defined by their homogenous identities.

The region was once a principality with its own laws and customs that flourished until power over the Iberian peninsula was centralized by the Spanish crown.

But to gain independence again, Catalonia must overcome several challenges since the upcoming referendum was not approved by Spain.

Abandoned puppy at airport bathroom highlights domestic violence issues

LAS VEGAS (KSNV NEWS3LV) — A 3-month-old puppy was abandoned inside an airport bathroom over the weekend with a heartbreaking note from its owner.

The miniature Chihuahua was left with a handwritten note from the dog’s owner telling a tale of domestic abuse and the owner’s rush to escape her abuser.

The note reads: “Hi! I’m Chewy! My owner was in an abusive relationship and couldn’t afford me to get on the flight. She didn’t want to leave me with all her heart but she has NO other option. My ex-boyfriend kicked my dog when we were fighting and he has a big knot on his head. He probably needs a vet. I love Chewy sooo much – please love and take care of him.”

Exercise reduces lower back pain by up to 16%

Regular moderate activity lowers the risk by 14 per cent, a study review found.

Yet, exercise has no impact on short-term back pain or that which causes hospitalisation or disability, the research adds.

Dr Joel Press, physiatrist-in-chief at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, who was not involved in the study, said: 'We were meant to move. We were not meant to be stagnant in any way.

'Generally lower impact, walking type things are probably the starting point. Swimming is another low impact activity that puts less load on your back'.

This Is What A Hunger-Games-Society Looks Like

The burned out shells of vacant buildings and crumbling infrastructure, the mobs of dispossessed youth wandering the streets, the constant violence and threats of violence set against a soundtrack of car alarms, bumping car stereos, and the distant hum of an electric transformer buzzing like a swarm of electric flies feasting on the carcass of a once thriving city-at a cursory glance these places seem ungovernable, or at the very least ungoverned.

But here lies the ultimate irony: the citizens residing in these districts are possibly the most intensely governed people in the country. From birth until death, they are shuffled through an almost constant stream of government institutions: government housing, public schools, welfare, the penal system-the list is almost endless.

The eight-story hotel, located on a four-acre parcel that formerly housed the Ocean City Health and Racquet Club, is being developed by the Inns of Ocean City LLC.
Rich Palmer, a managing member of the hotel corporation, said the project hit a snag last fall when problems arose with the original general contractor, Berlin-based general Sens Mechanical Inc.
In late November 2016 contractor Whiting-Turner was selected to shuttle the project to fruition. Palmer credited the bonding company with taking on the responsibilities of general contactor and selecting Whiting-Turner to complete the remaining construction.

North Korea ICBM Reality

Wake up, kids. This is reality we are facing and there's nothing fun about it!

Arlington National Cemetery is banned from displaying patriotism

The displaying of the American flag is technically banned at Arlington National Cemetery.

A law meant to block anti-military protests and picketing during Arlington burials was passed in 2006, and an unintended consequence of that act has made it illegal to display anything at the cemetery… even the American flag. Doing so could result in a fine or up to one year in prison.

There are special circumstances, of course, including flag displays that are “part of a funeral, memorial service, or ceremony,” which explains why it’s okay for soldiers to place those tiny flags next to each headstone and marker for Memorial Day and other national holidays and ceremonies.

In all other cases, U.S. code forbids the display of “any placard, banner, flag, or similar device” at the cemetery unless pre-approved by officials.

Media Doesn't Want To Talk About Welfare

A GOP bill backed by the Freedom Caucus that reforms welfare programs calls for spending cuts and strengthening work requirements, sparking outrage from the establishment media.

The phrase “welfare reform” strikes fear in the hearts of liberals everywhere, and acts as a clarion call for the establishment media to hurl unfair assertions at its opponents. The tired, one-sided argument that the GOP only proposes welfare spending to pay “for tax cuts” for the rich and “massive hikes in defense spending,” all at the expense of needy children, is back.

Cuts to welfare spending are often framed by media outlets as being catastrophic to the poor, and that lowering requirements for enrollees and increasing spending is compassionate. However, those that advocate for lowering welfare spending or adding work requirements want to see people starving in the streets, as the narrative goes. Vox’s Tara Golshan quotes James Ziliak, University of Kentucky’s Center for Poverty Research director, saying that a “sizable population” would be left “destitute” if the GOP’s reform plan became a reality.

Bill Clinton’s childhood friend: Hillary already running for 2020

Dolly Kyle on legacy of twice-failed Dem candidate

Her rise to power was once seen as inevitable, her victory in the run for the presidency a foregone conclusion.

Yet today, Hillary Clinton is nothing but a source of anger, embarrassment and frustration for many Democrats who blame the former first lady for wasting enormous sums of money on an incompetent 2016 presidential campaign.

It was, after all, the second time she’s tried and come up short.

Yet to hear her, it was not her fault; it was sexism, the Russians and even the Democratic Party’s national leadership.

One observer who has closely followed her scandal-plagued career over decades, a childhood friend and former romantic partner of former President Bill Clinton, says there is no chance Hillary Clinton will ever accept responsibility for her failures, nor will she ever gracefully fade away from the media spotlight.

“Are you kidding me?” Dolly Kyle responded when asked if Hillary Clinton is planning on running for president again. “Hillary’s already running for president in 2020!

Meanwhile, Spotted Together At A Southampton Party...

OUT AND ABOUT IN THE HAMPTONS -- Lally Weymouth held her annual summer party last night at her house in Southampton.

There was a long gold carpet entrance from where the parking was to a big tent next to her house. She served champagne, rare filet, fried chicken, cornbread, a big chocolate cake, ice cream and cookies decorated as American flags. Brother Don Graham did a big tribute to toast Lally (whose birthday is tomorrow) and shouted out Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film about how Ben Bradlee and Katharine Graham challenged the government for the right to publish the Pentagon Papers in 1971 (Tom Hanks is playing Bradlee and Meryl Streep is playing Graham). Don made a big deal that Spielberg was there and jokingly conceived a Spielberg movie about Lally and described the cast (some actors and some in the room).

SPOTTED: Jared and Ivanka chatting with Joel Klein and Alan Patricof, Kellyanne Conway on the dance floor, Boyden Gray, Chris Ruddy, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and wife Iris, Katharine Weymouth, Mary Jordan, Richard Cohen, Margaret Carlson, Gillian Tett, Steven Spielberg chatting with Steve Clemons and Robert Hormats, Carl Icahn, Tom Lee (famous for doing a leveraged buyout of Snapple and now lives in Princess Radziwill’s house), David Koch, John Paulson, Dina Powell, Richard Edelman, George Soros and his wife Tamiko Bolton, former Florida Gov. and Sen. Black Mother SUES School For Forcing Daughter To Be Co-Valedictorian With White Student

Every year, high schools across the country honor the student with the highest GPA as class valedictorian. But one mother is crying foul, saying that her daughter was unfairly forced to share the honor — and according to her, it’s solely because her daughter is black.

Sherry Shepard filed a federal discrimination lawsuit on behalf of her daughter, Jasmine Shepard, against the Cleveland School District. Her complaint is that Jasmine was named “co-valedictorian” with a white student in May of 2016. This wouldn’t necessarily be a problem, Shepard says, except the white student had a lower GPA.

The suit, filed in Mississippi at the end of June, claims that there was a racial motivation to the school’s decision. “Prior to 2016, all of Cleveland High School’s valedictorians were white. As a result of the school official’s unprecedented action of making an African-American student share the valedictorian award with a white student, the defendants discriminated against,” the suit reads.

Academic Suckers EPA With Fraudulent Data

Duke University admitted Sunday that it used manipulated and completely fabricated data about respiratory illnesses to obtains grants from the Environmental Protection Agency, among other agencies.

Internal investigators at the school believe that former lab technician Erin Potts-Kant falsified or fabricated data for medical research reports, attorneys for Duke said in response to a federal whistleblower lawsuit against the school. Potts-Kant told investigators that she faked data that wound up being “included in various publications and grant applications.”

Former analyst Joseph Thomas alleged in a recent lawsuit that the university ignored warning signs about Potts-Kant’s work and tried to cover up the fraud, but the university denies there were warning signs. The lawsuit contends that all the work Potts-Kant did in her eight years at Duke was fabricated, and that the bogus data was done through grants worth $112.8 million to Duke and $120.9 million to other universities in North Carolina.

Investigators reviewed 36 research reports and found that, in many cases, she simply made things up.

Kobach: Why States Need to Assist the Presidential Commission on Election Integrity

Last Thursday, the Presidential Commission on Election Integrity officially asked each state’s chief election official for a copy of their state’s publicly-available voter information, in order to better investigate voter fraud across the nation.

I’m the Vice Chair of that Commission, and the letter went out under my signature.

Immediately thereafter, several prominent Democrats declared that they would not comply with this request. California Secretary of State Alex Padilla stated, “California’s participation would only serve to legitimize the false and already debunked claims of massive voter fraud made by the President, the Vice President, and Mr. Kobach.”

Similarly, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe fumed, “I have no intention of honoring this request. Virginia conducts fair, honest, and democratic elections, and there is no evidence of significant voter fraud in Virginia.”

Governor McAuliffe’s declaration was particularly amusing, because only three days earlier In Virginia, a college student had been convicted of fraudulently registering 18 dead people. Evidently, there’s plenty of voter fraud in Virginia. Apparently, McAuliffe is ignorant of what’s going on in his own state.

The hyperventilating on the Left about this request is particularly strange since the Commission only requested information that is already publicly available..

Although private information like the last four numbers of a voter’s social security number is sometimes included in a state’s voter database, that information is usually not publicly available. The Commission didn’t request that information. Thus, there is no threat that the Commission’s work might compromise anyone’s privacy.

Poland Wants Trump’s Vow of Protection from Russian Activity

Poland’s government would like visiting President Donald Trump to make assurances this week that the presence of U.S. and NATO troops in Poland will continue as long as the region’s security is threatened by Russia, the foreign minister said Monday.

Trump is to deliver a speech in Warsaw during a brief visit Thursday. The visit comes before Trump attends a G-20 summit in Germany, where he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Poland and other nations in the region that were under Moscow’s dominance in the communist era are concerned for their security because of Russia’s increased military activity, some of it close to their borders.

Minister Witold Waszczykowski told reporters that Poland would like to hear Trump’s assurances that the recently installed rotational presence of thousands of U.S. and NATO troops in Poland will continue. The deployments were decided by NATO and by the U.S. administration under former president, Barack Obama.

President Trump Surprises 101-Year-Old Veteran – The Last Surviving Member of the Doolittle Raiders

The famed Doolittle Raid was the first ever air strike to attack the Japanese home islands. The raid not only proved that Japan could be vulnerable to air attacks, but also provided a vital morale boost to the American morale effort. Today, only one member of the Doolittle Raiders survives, and Donald Trump recently called him after he became injured.

Lt. Col. Dick Cole served as co-pilot of the lead B-52 bomber, which was piloted by Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle, who planned and led the raid. In May, Cole suffered a broken shoulder and elbow. Trump wanted to reach out to him before the Fourth of July.

“President Donald J. Trump spoke by phone on July 2 with Lt. Col. Dick Cole, the last surviving member of the famed Doolittle Raiders,” a statement released by the White House said. “The President offered his best wishes and support to this 101-year-old veteran who was recently injured. The President congratulated Lt. Col. Cole on his courage, thanked him for his service, and wished him a full recovery in advance of his upcoming 102nd birthday.”

In an interview Cole gave last year, he spoke about the raid and why it had been planned. “One was to let the Japanese people know their leaders were not being truthful by saying Japan couldn’t

NEW STUDY: Christians More Tolerant And Open-Minded Than Atheists

The left has long claimed that people of faith are more close-minded and intolerant than atheists. A new study says that is not so. We all knew that, but someone actually put it in writing. It was conducted by Dr. Filip Uzarevic, a researcher at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. In his study, the exact opposite of current thought is the truth here… atheists tend to be less tolerant of differing opinions. No offense to atheists, but I have found that to be very true.

And I would go even further here to say that both atheists and Christians have those among them that are tolerant and intolerant, which this study bears out. Those of faith and particularly Christians, are taught to be tolerant and understanding. It is part of our faith and it is ingrained in our teachings. Slapping a label on either side though is judgmental and really, people should be evaluated individually on their tolerances and reactions to others. Otherwise, you risk pigeon-holing whole classes of individuals. That leads to very bad things. See Nazi Germany.

It’s Official: Tall Ship Returning In August For Three Weeks

OCEAN CITY — The replica tall ship El Galeon Andalucia will be making a return trip to Ocean City in August for the first time in three years after resort officials on Monday worked out a few issues in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the vessel’s owner.

Special Events Director Frank Miller presented the Mayor and Council with the MOU that will bring El Galeon Andalucia back to Ocean City for roughly three weeks next month. The 170-foot, 500-ton tall ship replica is set to arrive in Ocean City on Aug. 10 and will make a pass in review under full sail down the beach front before beginning the trip through the Inlet, up the shallow bay and through the Route 50 drawbridge to its berth along the dock between 2nd and 3rd streets.

El Galeon made two successful stops in Ocean City, first in 2013 and again in 2014. It will remain moored at the dock along 2ndand 3rd streets and open for tours and special receptions until Aug. 27 and will make its departure along the same path it entered on Aug. 28. One of the last, and perhaps most significant, details to work out was the water depth in the stretch of bay between the Inlet and the Route 50 Bridge.

First Lady Shares 4th Of July Message That Her Haters CANNOT Argue

First Lady Melania Trump gave a short and sweet tweet today that perfectly captures the celebration of our Independence Day in an elegant, simple sentence: “We are the land of the free because of the brave. Thank you to the heroes who serve!” This is a woman who was not born a citizen in the United States, but immigrated here legally and found herself married to the President of the United States. A woman who speaks multiple languages, is brilliant, an accomplished business woman and a devoted mother and wife. And amidst all that, she holds out a special love and respect for our military, our police officers and our first repsonders… the bravest among us.

Despite Melania’s elegance and quiet ways, she is the never ending target of the left’s unhinged hatred and vitriol. But she stiffens her spine, holds her head up high and moves forward letting all of that fall by the wayside. That’s the sign of a woman who is courageous and is used to fighting opponents. Compliments are few for our First Lady… they say she is too beautiful (is that possible?), too cold, too quiet, too aloof… it’s always something, when in reality she is none of those things. These detractors know nothing of Melania… they don’t know ‘her’. But what she feels in her heart and soul is laid bare for everyone to see.

Officials Call Emergency Meeting on July 4th to Plan Response to North Korea Missile Launch

Key Trump administration officials huddled on the Fourth of July to plan a U.S. response if it is confirmed that North Korea conducted an intercontinental ballistic test, CNN reported.

Top national security, military and diplomatic officials were meeting Tuesday to study what options might be available to them if the North Korean ICBM claim proven, according to the news network.

North Korea had claimed it successfully tested an intercontinental ballistic missile – a milestone in its effort to build nuclear weapons capable of hitting the U.S., The New York Times reported.

If true, the U.S. would likely approve a "measured response."

More Very Fake News from CableFraudNetwork

They never learn. CNN is at it again, pushing more very fake news designed to hurt President Donald Trump with misinformation fed to viewers through its channel.

This time, on the morning of the Fourth of July, CNN political analyst Julian Zelizer, also a historian at Princeton University, inaccurately claimed that President Trump never made an Article 5 commitment to America’s NATO allies. The startling and deeply inaccurate accusation came during a discussion about President Trump’s upcoming meetings at the G20 summit, his forthcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and tensions rising in North Korea.

When asked in a follow-up by CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield—who did not correct Zelizer’s inaccuracy—if that’s something he thinks might be “potentially happening” on Trump’s upcoming trip, Zelizer again peddled the fake news.

Local Television Stations Screwing Up A Lot Lately

While WBOC is having multiple problems this morning, other stations have been having a ton of problems as well.

WMDT has had a major problem for the past YEAR with their ME TV channel.

WRDE can't seem to get their stuff together either and I have no clue why their advertisers are paying them anything at all. Their commercials have no volume whatsoever at night.

The Coming Carmageddon

Ben Bernanke’s successors at the Fed and other global central banks still don’t get it.

Falsified debt prices do not promote macroeconomic stability. They lead to reckless credit expansion cycles that eventually collapse due to borrower defaults. We’re now seeing that play out in the auto sector, especially since anyone who can fog a rearview mirror has been eligible for a car loan or lease.

If that reminds you of the sub-prime housing disaster, you’d be right.

That, in turn, will make the looming collapse even worse, due to the sudden drastic shrinkage of credit in response to escalating lender losses.

How did we get here?

Let’s start by looking at the Fed. Its reckless monetary reflation cycle in response to the Great Recession caused auto credit, sales and production to spring back violently after early 2010.

Accordingly, that reflation has powerfully impacted the growth rate of total U.S. domestic output. And it’s had a massively distorting effect.
