Like it never snowed at all and has been since around 12 noon on the day it snowed.I live on an emergency route in SBY.I made sure of that before purchasing my house.

Good enough, don't waste money scraping and dumping salt everytime we have a couple of snow flakes or a little ice. Get used to driving on it or stay home.
Well having ditched the shore for the wonderful weather of Florida!!!!! No snow here!!! Just wonderful weather, great living, good jobs, and dolphins playing in the Gulf of Mexico.
North Worcester county pretty good. I ventured out to Selbyville yesterday and back roads and road into (Rt 54) Selbyville were clear. Town of Selbyville good also.

I think we all know at this point of the morning the sun is out and temperatures have risen to a point where snow and ice is melting rapidly. We got lucky and dodged a bullet, so to speak. If had remained as cold as it has been the past two days, schools would have been closed tomorrow.

I noticed that a lot of the sidewalks downtown still had a lot of snow and ice on them as of yesterday. Granted the temperatures were below freezing the night before but I have been told if I did not have my sidewalks cleared in front of my house within 24 hours from when it stopped snowing, that I would be fined. Where wasn't the Mayor and his cronies out yesterday making sure everything was cleared off?
But yet I am "threatened" with a fine ....

You never get used to driving on ice. People used to living in snow prone areas know this and that's why it is imperative to start salting and plowing BEFORE snow has a chance to thaw and refreeze. It's not so much that people need to get used to it, but more along the lines of officials knowing the best way to deal with it and around here they don't. They get even a light dusting in Upstate NY, PA and CT and it's gone off the road surfaces ASAP. Even in Northern VA they remove any little bit promptly. Of course it's hillier in these areas which would make it more dangerous to drive so that may factor.
anonymous 10:15, I have been Downtown for several years now and let me assure you, the majority of sidewalks on the Plaza are not at all cleared off. It has been very dangerous for people to walk through there and this is one reason I had gone through there with my snow blower the past three years and cleared it.
If you ask the City to produce ANY fines Downtown you will see immediately that NO ONE has been fined and the key reason for that is, Salisbury News would regularly produce pictures of City property NOT shoveled/cleared within 24 hours as well. The second reason you won't see anything is because the business owners would freak out on the Mayor and Council.
I have seen former Council Members getting together with the community to help clean up the crap residents in their own neighborhoods would throw on the ground, yet never once have I seen the Mayor or Council come together for the elderly and handicapped to clear their walkways.
Why, because THEY are EASY pickin. They'll be the first to send a check in for the fine and the last to complain about it.
Get out and VOLUNTEER people.
All the roads down here are clear & dry, mostly due to the 70degree weather and the gorgeous sun LOL

Everything is fine now, but Dykes Road was a mess till yesterday afternoon. You couldn't see the double yellow line on Friday, and it was a sheet of ice for a good part of yesterday.
My road is just horrible. I haven't been able to leave my house to get food. I live in the Salisbury city. If only you were mayor, Joe, I know you would have taken care of people. We talk all the time about how that election was rigged.
First thing Friday morning the roads in Salisbury were a disaster. It was difficult for the working crowd and it would have been schools closed in Wicomico County.
Just one of the many reasons we moved to SWFl!!!!! Watched a dolphin rip off a fisherman a few times at the Naples pier and enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the beach.....
It is not possible to do what you suggest. The number of miles to plow vs. the number of staff available does not make it possible. This area is in a bad position for ice. Precipitation starts as rain usually, then transitions to ice/snow as cold air rushes in from the back. There is a very small window to get it off before it becomes ice. It isn't rocket science. Many local government agencies simply do not have the funds to salt all their roads. The salt is reserved for major collector roads.
I live on the edge of the city. I saw the county out with plows down, never once saw a City truck with a plow down. City plows at 4 inches, county plows beginning at 2 to 3 depending on what is forecasted.
I used my EBT card to get my driveway shoveled off ... didn't want to miss the game.
they are rapidly falling apart from all the rain over summer and now the feeze this winter. very bad condition.
