With TV ratings off nearly 20 percent over all and the networks already known to have lost up to $500 million in ad revenue, it is becoming clear that last year’s 12 percent decline wasn’t because of the raucous political season, a claim that served as the excuse for the 2016 season’s ratings loss.
The ratings slide is reflected in the skimpy attendance at the stadiums, too, with Week 11 photos showing that there are still empty seats galore.

It's so bad you can pick up tickets on the secondary market for this weeks Redskins Giants matchup for less than the cost of a beer at FedEx Field, with many available for under $10.00. Why does Godell deserve an extension when he has ruined what was an American institution. Haven't watched more than a few highlights all year and do not miss it at all. Getting plenty of projects done around the house on Sunday afternoons.

Same thing happened to NASCAR ( and K-Mart), just for different reasons. Football is going no where but down and as far as I'm concerned out. I once watched both NASCAR and football on Sundays. I decided to watch NASCAR. Not devote my entire day to a bunch of ingrates put on a political protest. Besides, I watched enough football to know what happened in the games just by listening to the radio reviews.
I catch the good college football games on Saturdays, or their repeats on other channels thru the week.
AND...Your also much safer driving a car 200 miles an hour on a NASCAR track with 42 other cars for 36 weekends a year, than stepping onto a football field for one play.
Once they lose the people and their respect; they will probably NOT come back...Shame on the NFL. Ignorance breeds ignorance.
Go ahead and keep disrespecting everyday working Americans. And, veterans aren't falling for the new "we love the veterans" BS the NFL is trying to lay on us.

Good for you sir. That's what society in general needs in my opinion. More constructive endeavors by the citizenry and less time watching tv and looking at phones.
I think that is one reason people, in general, have become ruder. We don't have that much human contact nowadays. It's all smartphones and Netflix. When was the last time you actually had a conversation with someone? A stranger?
I am lucky to have conversations now and then and let me tell you, it sometimes is a welcome change. Other times you wonder how so many crazy, stupid people managed to survive this long.
The demise of televised sports might actually be a great thing to happen to society. I hope it continues to decline so we may actually find out.
Let blacks dominate a sport, and that's what you get! They aren't smart enough to know where the money comes from.
It's all a business that has gotten way too big for its britches.

I've posted this before and for some reason, it never showed up a few weeks ago....every single stadium the spun article mentions is the home of a LOSING team. The Citizens Bank Park was only half full all season. Was is because the players were protesting? No it was because the Phillies sucked. Just like the 49'ers, Packers (with out Aaron Rogers), Giants, Browns, Broncos, Texans and Dolphins (all stadiums that were shown). How about showing the crowd in Dallas for the Cowgirls/Iggles game? How about the crowd in the SuperDome where the 8-2 Saints beat the crap out of the Deadskins?
