Karen L. Brooks, 38 at the time of her arrest in June, faces zero to 30 years in prison when sentenced in Kent County Superior Court on Feb. 14, 2018. Judge Noel Primos accepted the plea made at the Kent County Courthouse.
Smyrna Police said that Mrs. Brooks was assigned to Smyrna Middle School when detectives were notified of a possible inappropriate sexual relationship in early May. She was taken into custody without incident on June 1 and charged with fourth-degree rape/sexual intercourse with a victim under 18.
Police said they did not believe any of the supposed acts happened on school district property.
In court documents, a detective said Mrs. Brooks met the youth when he managed the Smyrna Middle School track team that she coached. She was an Educational Diagnostician, working in the Special Services department at Smyrna Middle School.
Mrs. Brooks was placed on paid leave on May 15. The status changed to unpaid administrative leave when she was arrested, officials said. She resigned from her school district position on June 6.

I don't get it. It has been about twice a week I've been hearing about some young, hot, and married female teacher going at some 17 year old male. This is the female predator on the shore? Poor stupid kid. I know, double, or triple standard? I graduated in '94. If MS. C******t came on to me, it would have been a dream come true, and no one would have EVER known about. NO SOCIAL MEDIA! I can also keep a secret. Saw her at the mall after graduation. That's where the coffee bean was back in the day, and where I saw her again. Addressed here as Ms. Cr******, she then gave me permission to call her M***y. She did it by the book and has always been my favorite teacher. This person is the stuff of nightmares.

Jim--you are missing the point...the breach of trust, the immorality--just because a 17 year old boys glands may be in hyperdrive does not make it right. What age would NOT be OK for you...16? 15? 14? 13? 8? Wrong is wrong no matter what age. She is in a position of authority and trust which she abused. She could have found "companionship" by going to a bar at 2 am...she would have looked good enough then I imagine. Would you feel the same if the student had been a girl?

Oh climb down off the moral high horse. A 17 year old boy is perfectly capable of making his own decisions about sex and with whom. There’s no betrayal of trust...a good case for a beastiality charge maybe.
