The president responded after LaVar Ball, the outspoken father of UCLA player LiAngelo Ball, downplayed Trump’s effort.
Trump said while on his recent trip to Asia, at the same time the players allegedly shoplifted in China during a basketball tournament, that he had spoken directly with Chinese President Xi Jinping about the matter.
Now that the three basketball players are out of China and saved from years in jail, LaVar Ball, the father of LiAngelo, is unaccepting of what I did for his son and that shoplifting is no big deal. I should have left them in jail!

They don’t seem to realize they are an embarrassment to our country. Shoplifting is a criminal offense here and one would think someone in his late teens would already know this! The POTUS had to ask for their release when there are more pressing issues in the world today is a huge embarrassment to America.

You can bet this was not the first time they "helped themselves" to something in a store. Three BIG thugs usually do not get reported by a little sales clerk. Happened a lot in Downtown Salisbury back when it was thriving. Inventory shortage from theft was over 7% per year. These days the credit card companies rip off 10% and do it legally. How times have changed.

8:11p you are incorrect. There is another black man over in China right now and his mother is seeking for President Trump to help. He was jailed in 2016 when he was there teaching English and coaching football. He went to a bar for a celebration and upset someone because he wouldn't drink alcohol. There was a fight and now he's sitting in a chinese prison. So please, don't RACE this up. It has nothing to do with them being black, at least not for the POTUS.
