Employee options: Get the flu shot, get an approved religious or medical exemption, or leave
For dozens of employees at Essentia Health, Monday meant coming to work not knowing whether they would make it to Tuesday. All because of the flu shot.
“Purely voluntary or more education doesn’t get you those high levels of immunization compliance,” said Dr. Rajesh Prabhu, the company’s chief of patient quality and safety. Prabhu said it was essential that he take a mandatory approach.
Since September, Essentia has told employees, volunteers, students and vendors that they have three options: get the flu shot, get an approved religious or medical exemption, or leave Essentia.
So far, he said 99.5 percent of employees have chosen the first two options. But 50 or so have been terminated, with more left waiting to hear back on their exemptions.

There is actually no science behind this and the cdc admits it. The flawed study was based on a small pool from 1 small nursing home.
Such BS.
NO. That is my answer. 10th A.
See you in court, class action next, but first for me, my family and all others hurt by them firing me.
Same policy at PMRC.
I'm so glad. I work in a hospital where so many nurses come to work with colds because they can't afford to stay home sick. Totally agree with this decision.
1967 - Lackland AFB for basic training - on the 4th week of six weeks, you get the flu shot.
One out of 50 got the flu from the shot.
I was that one. Sick for three days on a base where the flu did not exist.
I'll never get another flu shot - ever.
I never get a flu shot but I do not associate with people that have children of school age and do not attend birthday parties or other evens where children a present. I have not had the flu or flu like symptoms since avoiding contact with the disease carriers.
Get the shot. Don't be a A-hole!!! Ray!!!
I got the flue shot & am sicker than a dog! In fact, every year right after getting the shot, I get sick. But they say it's not from the shot. I never used to get sick...ever.
I don't get the shot because I don't believe they can accurately predict which flu strains will be circulating, therefore it's pretty useless. A lot of people get the shot and don't actually get sick from the shot, but still get the flu later that season. Why put some unknown concoction in your body if you don't have to?
Then why do you get it? I got it one time, got sick and never again.
Completely incorrect. You didn't read CDC findings.
You don't have to work for that company. However if you choose to the company requirements is getting a flu shot.. How does the 10a apply and WHAT law firm would you use to fight a company policy and you CHOOSE to work at? Who else is involved in the class action? Will YOUR law firm cover them also? Is it FREE representation or do YOU have 50k laying around for the FIRST COURT ROOM. Does YOUR firm cover FEDERAL COURT? Supreme Court is about 5 to 7 year wait IF you meet requirements AFTER 2 years of local battles! I'm all ears???
Get the flu shot, the take two weeks sick leave, sick, or not.
I have not had the flu shot since my last pregnancy. Every time i got the flu shot i have gotten sick. I have not had the flu in 9 years now. And i work w/ kids. If someone refuses and get sick let them use their time or dont get paid. If they get the shot and get sick whats there to say then?
Make sure your immune system is boosted. Take your vitamins, eat healthy, exercise and get your proper rest. Wash your hands frequently and don't touch your eyes or nose especially after touching objects that other people touch. That's your best prevention.
How stupid. That's a lawsuit.
