English's Family Restaurant, an Ocean City landmark known for its "famous fried chicken", has sold the property where it served locals and beach-goers for more than 50 years.
Harrison 1500 Philadelphia Avenue, LLC, an affiliate of the Harrison Hotel Group, acquired the property at the northeast corner of Philadelphia Avenue and 15th Street for $1.8 million in an auction on Wednesday. Harrison Hotel Group is a big player in the Eastern Shore resort. The company owns 11 hotels and 12 restaurants in Ocean City.
A.J. Billig & Co. Auctioneers, a Baltimore company, represented the seller, the English Co. The property consists of two contiguous parcels, comprising 0.53 acre just west of the boardwalk. The sale included a one-story, 5,730-square-foot restaurant building, restaurant equipment and paved parking lot. The trade name “English’s” was not included in the auction.

Im glad it is not going to be another Royal Farms.
Changes just continue!
Any more rumblings about Phillips on 141st street up for sale? That's a very large property plus the parking lot across the street (Farmer's market area).
I am glad it's the other guy and not me to have bought the properties.
I saw the property tax bill that English was paying and there is no way in sam's hell that I would want to have that 'Ball and Chain' wrapped strapped around my neck.
The Harrison group can have it!!!
It would be nice if they sold Englishs chicken.
