Federal wildlife officials are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person who killed a pair of bald eagles in Talbot County last Monday.
The carcasses were found by a resident near the intersection of Kitty's Corner and State Road 328, just south of Tuckahoe Creek. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officials believe the eagles were the victims of secondary poisoning after feeding on a dead fox.

Can someone please explain this? How can you accuse someone of killing a bird that ate a dead fox? Was the fox poisioned intentionally? Or did the fox just happen to eat something nasty? This makes no sense to me.
The fox was obviously intentionally poisioned, otherwise the charge would not have been made. Fox hunting has a season and methods of killing are described. I'm pretty sure without opening my "Guide to Hunting & Trapping In Maryland" book that poisining is not a method for fox huntting.
However, I do not know of any rules involving thee operation of a chicken farm that may allow other means. One must look up all the rules here.
My take? Any time you can kill a fox is a good time, as yhe rabbit population around here is just plain dismal. I hope the DNR does something more to address foxes.
