Board Of Education Makes Administrative Appointments For 2012-13 School Year

The Wicomico County Board of Education on Tuesday, May 8 approved two administrative appointments for the 2012-13 school year, effective July 1.


Supervisor of Reading: Patricia Blevins


Mrs. Blevins has served Wicomico County Public Schools as Coordinator of Reading since 2003. She has been involved in public education for 37 years, and has extensive experience in a variety of settings in effectively teaching reading. She has represented Wicomico County by presenting on the local, state, regional and national level, and is currently assisting the Maryland State Department of Education with Common Core curriculum writing. Mrs. Blevins is a graduate of Salisbury University, with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Education degree with a concentration in reading. She was a Title I reading teacher from 1991-2003, and prior to that served as a classroom teacher in Wicomico and Somerset counties (1975-1991). She has been an adjunct professor in the Salisbury University Master of Education Reading Specialist Program.


Elementary Assistant Principal: Shelly Hall


Mrs. Hall, currently a grade 3 classroom teacher at Delmar Elementary School, was appointed an Elementary Assistant Principal. A graduate of Wicomico County Public Schools, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Salisbury University, and a Master of Education in Public School Administration and a Master in Education as a certified Reading Specialist, both from SU. Mrs. Hall began her teaching career in Somerset County Public Schools in 1993, working as a middle school teacher. In 1997, she was hired as a middle school teacher in Wicomico County Public Schools, starting at Salisbury Middle School. She later moved to Delmar Elementary School. In 2001, she became a Reading Support Teacher for Salisbury Middle and later Reading Intervention Specialist at Wicomico Middle. This year, Mrs. Hall returned to Delmar Elementary. Mrs. Hall has served on the School Improvement Team, PBIS School Committee, Examining Student Work Initiative, and the Wicomico County Reading Committee.

Wow first the first time Wicomico county is quiet on a BOE post well let me stir things up for all of you Rumor has it that the person that will receive the head of human resources position will now be welcomed with open arms not only that but with her husband in a equally powerful position they will pretty much have the run of the BOE once again I am a shamed to live in Wicomico County with all the corruption and if I would happen to be an employee of the BOE I would start looking for ways to get out of my contract now because that is not the only disappointing news coming
