Maryland State Police will have an eye out for young, night drivers in particular this summer.
Particularly, troopers and officers will be watching for drivers
under the age of 35 who are most likely to lose their lives in a crash
because they were not wearing seat belts.
The effort is part of a nationwide "Click It or Ticket" mobilization that began the first week of May and lasts through the beginning of June.
State police said young people -- men in particular -- are among those least likely to buckle up at night. According to recent figures released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,
lap and shoulder seat belts -- when worn -- lower the risk of death to
passengers in the front seat by 45 percent. The research revealed that
seat belts also reduce the risk of moderate-to-critical injury by half.

It's a tax.
This is just another in a long list of excuses to pull people over and shake them down.
People, please rise up against this!
I see more and more police on the roads both on the highways and in the city. I personally believe its for revenue enhancement. Instead of protecting and patrolling our neighborhoods, that are setting up speed traps, school bus traps and in general harassing motorist!
