The Democrats’ lame duck majority began with a whimper last week, but it will almost certainly try to go out with a bang when Congress returns to Washington on November 29. The Presidential Deficit Commission’s recommendations and the Pentagon’s study on repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” will both be released that week, and Democrats have stated intentions to move forward on both while they still have sizable majorities in Congress.
In the House, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) announced last week that Democrats will hold a vote on legislation ensuring that taxes go up next year for many families and small businesses. And while no announcement has officially been made on spending, the outgoing majority is pushing for a massive omnibus bill instead of a short-term funding measure.
The choice Americans made on Election Day should not be overruled by a lame duck majority on the brink of losing its stranglehold on Washington. I will continue to fight for a lame duck session that simply keeps anyone’s taxes from going up, passes a short-term funding bill to pave the way for a sensible budget next year, and hands the gavel over to the next Congress.
On a concluding note, I hope you and your family enjoy a blessing-filled Thanksgiving. Many in our Armed Forces will spend this holiday season far from home. For their sacrifices, we are forever thankful.

Sit down and shut up Price. Congressmen are elected to serve for a designated term length. Stop using this for political points. We are not paying them to sit on their butt for 2 months.
