Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Press Release 2-10-15


On February 7, 2015 at approximately 1935 hours a Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Deputy observed a silver passenger vehicle traveling 68 mph in the posted 55 mph speed limit on Rt. 50 in the area of Caleb lane. The vehicle was stopped and the operator was identified as Rip Thomas Scotton 33, from Willards Maryland and a front seat passenger was identified as Holly Star Lynch 37, from Snow Hill Maryland. 

Through the course of the traffic stop a K9 scan was conducted of the vehicle, and the K9 positively alerted to the odor of a presence of suspected controlled dangerous substances.
Ms. Lynch admitted to the Deputy that she had needles in her purse. The Deputy located 3 capped hypodermic syringes in Ms. Lynch’s purse. Ms. Lynch stated that she uses Heroin with the needles. 


Ms. Lynch was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and later released on a Criminal Citation. Mr. Scotton received a written warning for the speed.
