U.S. health insurer Anthem hit by massive cybersecurity breach

Health insurer Anthem Inc, which has nearly 40 million U.S. customers, said late on Wednesday that hackers had breached one of its IT systems and stolen personal information relating to current and former consumers and employees.

The No. 2 health insurer in the United States said the breach did not appear to involve medical information or financial details such as credit card or bank account numbers.

The information accessed during the 'very sophisticated attack' did include names, birthdays, social security numbers, street addresses, email addresses and employment information, including income data, the company said.

FOX said yesterday 80 Million. Does Anthem believe not breaching Medical and financial information gives their current and former consumers and employees no cause for concern? Seems to me name, birthday date, social security number , address, and employment information, including income data
is needed for someone to apply for a credit card. So guess those people who had Anthem will have a worry.

As I was advised by Numerous people in Banking and accounting, etc. today. You should immediately put a fraud alert on your credit by using 1 of the 3 credit companies like equifax. It is free, and will last for 90 days and help protect you. And simple as a five minute phone call. or do it online.
That is if you have blue cross/blue shield. Waiting to find out if your affected, as I was told, will or could, be to late.
also watch all your bank statements and accounts. And consider making your accounts only available with proof with a drivers license. unless your online banking, in which case, you can do nothing.
