Lots of people exaggerate highly emotional experiences because of the "heat of the moment". You have to take it all with a grain of salt.

The pilot said the only thing that hit the chopper was dust. 0 enemy fire.
This is a bit more than an elaboration or even an exaggeration. It's fraud.
These commenters are overwhelmed.They've never seen anything like this before.Good thing it's being fed to them in small doses because the sheer magnitude of this epic story would fry their brains.
