Troopers On Scene Of Mower Incident

Location: Hudson Road at Log Cabin Hill Road, Lewes, DE
 
Date and Time of Occurrence: Wednesday, October 05, 2011 at approximately 10:20 a.m.
 
Resume:   
Lewes, DE- The Delaware State Police are currently at the scene of an incident in which a lawn mower has struck an electrical power line on Hudson Road and Log Cabin Hill Road, Lewes, DE.
 
Initial indication is that a Delaware Department of Transportation worker struck an electrical power line while cutting grass in the area. The worker was injured; however, the extent of his injuries is unknown at this time. Electrical power in the area has also been disrupted. 
 
Log Cabin Hill Road has been shut down and commuters are asked to find alternate means of travel around the area.

I heard from family member, who is friends with this young man...He did not survive the incident...such a terrible thing..praying for the family and friends....

Who ever owns that electric line is in some mighty hot water. 600 volts or less must be 24" deep. 50,000 volts or less is required to be 30" deep. Cant understand how energized cable was that accessable t a mower.
