DELMAR CHRISTMAS PARADE POSTPONED

Hi Joe,

I just got word from our Parade Chairperson, Roger Martinson that the Delmar Christmas Parade scheduled for tomorrow, Dec. 5th at 2pm has been postponed to Sunday at 2, due to the weather forecast for rain.

We would really appreciate your help in getting the word out and we hope everyone will plan to join us on Sunday.
We have been told that the Delmar Football team will be able to be in the parade on Sunday and we are hoping that will be as State Champions! Either way, win or lose for them tomorrow, everyone in Delmar is so proud of them and need to come out and show their appreciation for these athletes.

Thank you

Greater Delmar
Chamber of Commerce

Postponed to the exact same time as Salisbury Parade

Given the choice, Salisbury's more exciting.

I think Delmar's decision to have it the same day as Salisbury parade is just not right..what were they thinking...!!!

No one would be there anyway because of the football game!

How sad, now the two towns can't get together on the parade times. Can't they change it up in Delmar until 4:00 p.m. Berlin used to have a nightime parade and it was lovely. That way people can do both.

Some people have NO idea what it takes to organize an event like this.
The Delmar Christmas Parade has been held on the 1st Saturday in Decmember for many years. They chose that date a long time ago because everyone else had their parades on the following Saturdays.
Then, some changed their parades to be on the 1st Saturday as well.
So please cut these people a break!
There are only so many Saturdays to choose from folks!
The rain date for Delmar's parade was posted early on, in the hopes they would not have to use it.
Sometimes schedule conflicts can not be avoided.
Instead of sitting there trashing the people who put these events on, why not give them some credit for what they do...support their community!
If you want to make decisions for these organizations who do these special events, why not become an active member of the organizations.
Delmar had considered CANCELLING the parade all together because of the Salisbury parade being on the same day and time as the rain date but decided there were too many people that would be disappointed over not having a parade this year.
It's a catch 22.
As far as changing the time, that was also scheduled a LONG time ago, you go changing the date AND the time and you'll catch hell from those people who you confused as well.

Delmar cannot do a night time parade. They were told that many years ago because you cannot cut off 2 main arteries of the town. That decision came from the states.
It has nothing to do with the two towns getting together on something.
Delmar's date has been long standing.

Oh well who knows, if this keeps up they both might get canceled tomorrow, but we sure hope not. It is snowing in DC now.
