Governor O’Malley to Host Job Creation Access to Credit Summit with GBC;

Accept Small Business Task Force Recommendations


ANNAPOLIS, MD
– Governor Martin O’Malley released this statement today on job creation and President Obama’s Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth at the White House. Governor O’Malley will be co-hosting a Job Creation Access to Credit Summit for businesses in Maryland on Monday, December 7 at 10:00 a.m. The Governor will also be accepting the recommendations of Maryland’s Small Business Task Force on Wednesday, December 9.

“We are focused on new ideas to create new jobs and grow our economy in Maryland. President Obama’s leadership at the national level is critical to helping our small businesses and families weather this national recession. Today’s Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth at the White House will generate new ideas to the issues most critical to small businesses including expanding access to capital and fueling innovation.”

Governor O’Malley will co-host the Maryland Small Business Summit to focus on job creation and access to credit for small businesses on Monday, December 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel. On Wednesday, December 9, Governor O’Malley will formally receive the recommendations from the Small Business Task Force, where he will host a live Small Business Town Hall online from Baltimore’s tech entrepreneur Blue Sky Factory.

Over the last several months, the Governor has aggressively pursued a strategy to strengthen small businesses, expand opportunity throughout Maryland, and fuel innovation. These efforts include:

Hosted a number of small business roundtable discussions across the State
Created the Small Business Task Force
Released a ten point strategy to strengthen small business in Maryland
Encouraged members of Maryland Congressional delegation to target TARP funds to expanding access to capital for small businesses
Launched MBE University, which helps connect small businesses with State and private sector contracts.

maybe someone should tell the gov. that it was his tax increases and government intrusion into the private sector that not only destroyed the economy but is also preventing any kind of meaningful recovery. government jobs will not repair this economy
