Question of the Day, Wed 10/29

Today is Internet Day?

Could you live without internet in today's times? Real-time news? Internet auctions such as eBay? Gun broker for the gun-lovers? Overstock.com for the hoarders? Singles websites? The internet has it all . . . so could you live without it?

We did live without it. The world would be a better place without 24 hour news.

I don't think so. When I walk into the house in the evenings, the first thing I do is turn on the computer.
I LOVE the internet!

My computer was in the shop a couple weeks ago, and I tried to 'do without', but after 2 days I found myself calling my neighbors to see if I could use their computer a minute or two...just to check my e-mail. Then after about day 3 I was losing my mind...I had stuff I needed to print and copy and needed to 'look-up' on-line...I felt so out-of-touch. On day 4 when my computer came home I hooked it up so fast and then spent the next hour-and-a-half reading and surfing...it was like a drug 'fix'. Next time I think I'll have to find a 'loaner' computer if mine has to go in for any more repairs!

Some psychologists have publicly expressed opinions indicating their contempt for human freedom. And the mathematician Claude Shannon was quoted in Omni,(August 1987) as saying, " I visulize a time when we will be to robots what dogs are to humans, and Im rooting for the machines "

TOO MUCH information, most of which isn't true. Encyclopedias that can be edited tell you anything?????
