Fox News - Breaking News

When President Clinton signed the bipartisan-crafted Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program into law nearly 16 years ago, its work requirement was hailed as an 'end to welfare as we know it' — now Republicans charge President Obama's under-the-radar effort to end the work requirement is a 'blatant violation of the law.'

our president is working really hard spending our tax dollars to buy himself votes. if he put as much effort into actually doing the job he was elected to do he may have actually accomplished something in the last 3 1/2 years. instead he is as big a disappointment (understatement, i know) to everyone as he was predicted to be. what a jerk.

Figures, he wants Romney to release all his tax info to see if he is criminally liable yet he makes it easier to hand out money all while possibly being from anther country l, which is a criminal act of he passes as an original American citizen. So yea screw off Obama I have never voted before but you can bet your bottom dollar I will be voting against Obama this year.

You can't harp on the very weak job growth numbers and high unemployment, then scream about people not working because they want something for nothin. Which one is it. Perhaps we should put the work requirement on hold until we see hiring pick up. That should happen any day now right? I mean with historically low taxes, big profits, and major gains in stocks over the last 2-3 years right? Atleast according to what my local GOPer told me.

How can he end mandatory work searching for the cash assistance program when he also says that he wants people to have jobs so they can be independent?

states may seek a waiver from the work component of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program, in order to "test alternative and innovative strategies, policies and procedures that are designed to improve employment outcomes for needy families."

So freeing up the states' hands and decreasing federal mandates is now a bad thing? hmmm

So-called welfare reform just pushed those who would be living on it to find devious ways to get on SSI.Drug addicts, people who claim they are mentally ill.You can threaten to kill yourself, get committed for a 24 hr hold and use that to win SSI according to a check-sucker I know.I know of someone who injured themselves DRUNK driving and guess what? they get awarded SSI.
