PRMC Can't Get Rid Of Patients

Salisbury News just learned that PRMC isn't able to release patients to Health South or Genisis. There seems to be an unknown GI virus going around and NO ONE is allowed to be admitted to either facility.

Now, why is this important. Anyone who has a friend or family member in either one of the above locations should be well aware of the conditions there.

These seem to be flu like symtoms but no one is really sure at this point what the bug actually is.

Anyhow, those patients expecting to be released cannot be admitted to either of these facilities as they are in a sort of lock down.

There are other facilities available upon release. I suppose this will get the PRMC bashers blaming PRMC for this situation,

anonymous 12:29, NICE TRY! There are no openings available and this is why they are now sending patients home with home care nurses. You people are so full of sh!t.

i had a stomach bug yesterday. stayed in bed all day. felt much better this morning but i'm weak. today, my friend who brought be gingerale yesterday is now sick. this bug has been all through my sons daycare & many other daycares, so its not just health facilities. seems to be fast moving though, so at least that's good.

I had a relative that recently died of c-diff, and she had been a patient at PRMC.
She was able to get transferred out, though-- to hospice.

Joe, I really do not understand how PRMC can be awarded all those merits of excellence.I was recently admitted and put on floor 5. I waited for over 1.5 hrs before I recieved any pain medicine,My wife had to go to the nurses station to ask why as my room lite was blinking entire time. She was told thet havent recieved any paperwork yet.My wife advised them that it is federal law not to with hold pain medine for this amount of time. She left and a nurse followed her back with the pain medicine.I have been told of several more cases similar to mine that patients just get ignored. As to your post this is standard pratice when the flu season hits them.

Many of us have horror stories to tell about the care (or lack of it) at PRMC. But, to be fair, there are a few some nurses and doctors who operate out of there who are conscientious and caring.

anonymous 1:55, I firmly agree with your comment.

I love prmc and would go there over mccready hospital any day but that's opinions. Once you have a bad experience you want to bash it...not fair. Infections are in all hospitals.

what federal law? The nurses can not give meds with out the doctors orders. Perhaps you should take your complaint to your admitting doctor or the hospitalist.

anon 1016 My admitting doc was the ER DOC. aNON 1:55 i ALSO AGREE WITH YOU.However they have bad ones that make everyone look bad.I wish they would send survey forms out to the patients when they are discharged.

The ER doc isn't the admitting doc. The nurses on the floor don't receive orders from the ER docs. They must wait for the admitting or consulting doc to provide them with orders or "paperwork."

Just be glad you get out in better shape than you went in. They darn near killed my mother, another "unsupervised or unwitnessed" fall could have. The Dr. told us she was old and febel when actually her blood pressure was so low her brain and other organs couldn't function from lack of 0'2 and blood. No local lawyers will touch PRMC.
