SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR MISSING BALTIMORE CO. MAN

(BALDWIN, MD) – Maryland State Police are asking for help from the public in their continuing search for a Baltimore County man who has been missing from his home since last week.

The man is identified as Michael Diffenderffer, 52, of the 12000-block of Fork Rd., Baldwin, Md.  He is described as a white male, 6’2” tall, weighing 235 pounds.  He is believed to be driving a silver 2005 Acura MDX,a sport utility vehicle, with Maryland tag 19469M4.  The vehicle has not been located.

Shortly before midnight on October 5, 2011, Diffenderffer’s wife went to the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack and reported to troopers that her husband was missing.  He was last seen at their home about 2:15 p.m. that day.  She said she found a note from him later in the day saying he had gone out and would be back for dinner.

Maryland State Police have conducted extensive searches for Diffenderffer, but have not located him.  He is known to visit park areas in Harford and Baltimore counties, as well as Western Maryland.  Searches of those areas have been conducted by Maryland State Police helicopters, but have so far been unsuccessful. Police departments throughout the East Coast have been notified and are on the lookout for him.

There were no signs of foul play or a struggle at Diffenderffer’s residence.  His family continues to cooperate with State Police investigators.  Troopers have interviewed numerous relatives and friends during this investigation.  A motive for his disappearance has not been established.

Anyone with information is urged to contact State Police at the Bel Air Barrack at 410-879-2101.
