A letter of thanks to a local company....
I am the current Band Booster President for the James M. Bennett Marching High School Band. It is our non profit organizations responsibility to raise funds for the band so that they can attend band camp, sporting events, competitions, parades and to assist with the purchase of instruments and other necessary equipment.
With the rising cost of transportation and equipment, this has become quite a struggle not only for our organization but for bands county wide. Recently we were in desperate need to replace tires on our equipment trailer and with limited resources we were extremely concerned with the cost. We priced the cost of the tires at places such as Walmart and Sams Club and even after they were told it was for a local school organization, they were unable to offer us a discount. However, one local business that we contacted was more than generous and not only did they give us the tires at their cost but also did not charge us any labor fees.
They never even hesitated to offer us a discount and were extremely professional and had the job completed in record time. On behalf of the JMB Band Boosters and students, I would like to publicly thank the generous people at Burnett White Tire and Auto Company. Their kind and generous offering is tremendously appreciated and saved our organization money so that we can continue to support the band students during this competition season.
We hope that your readers will consider going to Burnett White for their future automotive needs. Please support local businesses because they in turn support us.
Sincerely,
Jon Greene
JMB Band Booster President

Dawn is a great lady and asset to our community!
Great news. Very nice to hear of such generosity! Please support ALL local businesses!!
I have always been happy when I left Burnett-White.I even bought a car from the Tilghmans several yrs ago.
You mean a company owned by 7 (out of the top 15) richest people in the USA don't allow those kind of community donations, but a local company did it?? A company that was given huge- HUGE - tax breaks to come to this community (so they could close down numerous other businesses and offer local residents part-time jobs with little to no benefits at $8 an hour) can't give a local high schoola break?? Not even at cost? Don't forget that those tax breaks that our politicians so generously gave were unnecessary (Salisbury was a juicy corporate target for new construction), but they are revenues that must be made up by increased fines, taxes, levies, and more "serving and protecting" us in order to raise that missing money. They should be ashamed...is the Walton family down to their last 8 billion dollars or something?? But I also pity Burnett-White. They will now be inundated with requests for (free) everything that has to do with tires. Thats the downside to "giving"...they just won't leave you alone after that. Wait til the churches hear about this...
