Police say suspects strapped teller with possible bomb at Miami-area branch
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Robbers abducted a Miami-area bank employee from his home, strapped a possible bomb to his chest and used him to steal money from the bank Friday before fleeing, authorities said.
FBI spokeswoman Judy Orihuela said a teller was abducted early Friday morning by three suspects and forced to help them rob a Bank of America branch in Coral Gables near the University of Miami. The teller was wearing a vest police feared might be a bomb, although that was not immediately confirmed.
The teller cut himself free from the possibly explosive device, emerged shirtless out of the bank unharmed and was taken into custody for questioning after a nearly four-hour standoff. Orihuela said the three suspects got away with an undetermined amount of cash.
"We don't know the role of this individual,'' Sgt. Janette Frevola, a Coral Gables police spokeswoman, told reporters. "He's being questioned.''
Police were working to control or safely detonate the possible bomb.
Authorities and a Bank of America spokeswoman said that at one point several employees were held hostage inside the bank.

Same thing happened back in 2005 at a bank in California. Woman was home invaded, then they held her hostage and told her to get a large amount of US currency at the bank where she worked. Cops arrested her, said she planned it, and she told them that the people that attacked her came into the bank a week before. Caught the people 3 months later, after she pleaded with law enforcement that she was not involved and they reviewed the security tapes.
Yeah the show just came on two days ago. Probably a copycat
