All this talk about Joe Ollinger stealing Google's colors, give me a break! Joe was at least smart enough to make contact with Google and ask if it was OK. What I find most interesting are the other Bloggers who copy just about everything I do, yet they're the biggest complainers about copy and paste.
I change the format on Salisbury News, they change theirs to follow. I do interviews, they try to do interviews. I do a parody of Julie Brewington, they tape black electrical tape top their face to make it look like they have a goatee. I grow a goatee, they grow a goatee. I buy a silver BMW Z3, they buy a silver BMW Z3. I marry a beautiful woman, oh, well, I guess I should have stopped while I was ahead! Joe Ollinger believes Google has been successful with their colors, I say, great marketing move Joe.
The only mistake Joe Ollinger made when it comes to his signs is the fact that he promised he wouldn't do it. Oh sure, now he says he meant yard signs. However, when you make a commitment, stick to it Joe. What bothers me the most is, Joe is on the outside looking in. Like Ireton, he doesn't know the day to day business of a County Executive. God Forbid Joe get elected, he'd instantly learn the things he promised simply cannot be done. We've discussed all of that in the past, so I won't bore you again with Joe's false/impossible campaign promises. While I think the colors on his signs are pleasant, nothing is going to help Joe win this election. He's a hot head, he's a best friend of Barrie Tilghman, Mike Dunn, Lynn Cathcart, Gary Comegys, Ron Alessi and the republicans have delivered yet another Louise Smith. Are your eyes open yet Folks?

How do you steal colors? You can't copyright a color scheme.
In America you can copyright / patent food for cryin' out loud!
Yes you can also copyright colors.
Deja Vu -- this same "He's a know-nothing" argument was made against Ronald Reagan, when he ran for Governor and then for President.
"... he doesn't know the day to day business of a County Executive."
What it means is that Joe Ollinger is not a professional politician bureaucrat like Pollitt, O'Malley, Obama, and the rest of the local, state and federal Democrat elite.
How has Pollitt handled "the day to day business of a County Executive? Maybe Jim Fineran will tell us (at taxpayer expense).
His biggest plus is taht he isn't Rick Pollitt. Can he really be any worse thatn Pollitt? Other than being Fruitlands city manager what has Pollitt done? And remember Fruitland has some of the highest taxes and utility fees on the shore. Is that a resume enhancer?
There are real issues (unlike the "yard sign" brouhaha) in this race between Ollinger-Pollitt, like the tax cap, trying to buy a farm for $18,000 per acre, those secret pay raises by Pollitt, to name a few.
Say what you want, Ollinger is a shill for the old Tilghman Administration.
Next term Alessi will try to run again.
Ollinger even stated himself, he liked the way things went before they voted for a County Executive. So why run then Joe? Why not stand up for eliminating the position instead.
Flip Flop comes to mind when I think of this guy. The signs are just another example. Oh, by the way, the image on this post is just a BIG Yard Sign, period.
To: Rick Pollitt:
In today's Daily Times you say that yard signs are "Democracy in action."
What about the tax revenue cap that was approved by a huge referendum majority? That's real "Democracy in action."
I can pretty definitely tell you. You could offer this job to Alessi, no election, and he'd tell you to go fly a kite. He's had enough of them all. and the nasty mess you and others put on here smearing innocent people.
It will be difficult to wrangle power away from the masons in this town.
Here's a suggestion for Democracy in Action - how about another referendum and see if people still feel the same way? Anybody afraid of this?
10:57 Free Masons, Derick Masons or Dixon Masons?
I expressed my concerns directly to Joe Ollinger about what I perceive is an over-reaching platform. I also sent him a message that given Rick's advantage in name recognition that not distributing yard signs was a mistake, though I understand him not wanting to clutter up Wicomico County with yard signs. His approach with fewer strategically placed larger signs is admirable.
The reason I am supporting Joe Ollinger is that when you compare a successful businessman to a career bureaucrat/politician, I am going with the businessman... Joe Ollinger. I do think Rick is a nice guy, sincere and well-intended, but has not shown the leadership needed. The Sarbanes-led County Council should have heeded the recommendation to have term limits for the County Executive position.
B.J. Corbin
Could you imagine Barry Tilgman in de facto control of the county? Ick!
B.J. Corbin who dug him up,nobody has heard from him since the last election. He was used as an example of how not to react at a recent republican club meeting.
does anyone know the facts regarding ollinger? i already know i don't like the job rick is doing. please someone out there just give facts about what would make this man a good county executive. what is his background and ethics?

Please explain how I "was used as an example of how not to react at a recent republican club meeting"
Having served as a Past President of the WCRC... I would be interested to know.

B.J. has some secrets, dont you B.J.
As for Ollinger lets face it this was the best my party could do. That is sad. I am glad Barkovich is retirng if thats what you call it. The good ole boy system is done. It does not work on educated people. It might have worked with the mouth breathers of the past.
Ollinger is a nice man dont get me wrong. He has no busines running a county. If Pollitt does not grow a set of coconuts he should be gone as well. We are in a real dilema in Wicomico. Rick are you taking masculinity lessons from Ireton. Grow some balls man !!
As for the any of these men be a Mason I have never scene one of them with a brick in their hands. All kidding aside there is abosultely nothing wrong with electing a Free Mason. Look at 90% of your prior presidents.
So Rick needs to stay. As for BIG BAKER go have another beer. If there was a bar in Pollitt's office you might have worked a little harder to win. So jump party lines and endorse whom ever you want. Thats if they sober up in time to vote.
Have a Delmarvalous Day !
B.J. why should we even listen to you. You couldn't even make it to the general election 4 years ago. Rick probably has done a hell of a better job than you ever would. Grow some "coconuts" yourself and find something better to do rather then insult the guy who creamed you!
