There are more contractors than military. Our government uses contractors because there is more profit in it for the companies.

War is about profiteering in America. We are not really in any danger from the poor people in Iraq or Afghanistan. We all know that.

Actually, using contractors is cheaper than military or civilian. Anyone who's been involved with the government knows this. You're getting better trained, more qualified, experienced people across the board than government civilians, and the military is still paid far less than either civilian or contractors. On average, contractors make less money per position than civilians and the government isn't responsible for benefits.

It's cheaper to use a contractor, plus if they die or are injured, they don't show up on the "official scorecard"(I'm not using that term in anyway to disregard or disrespect anyone). Totally agree with 9:50's points.

You are both wrong.

It is far cheaper for the military to have its own cooks, mechanics, and truck drivers. We are being ripped off by the contractor miltary system. These companies are getting rich while our taxes are being wasted.

Plus the contractors are not held to Geneva Convention Standards. They are not "military" of the U.S.A. That is how they get away with war crimes against civillians.

Abu Gahraib Prison was being run by private mercenaries. It was a CIA operation.

It is my understanding that many U.S. Servicemen complete an initial contract (2 - 3 years) and then get out of the military so they can work for private contractors and be paid A LOT MORE. I have heard this from many people. The young men get basic training from the military and then become mercenaries.

Contractors make HUGE money....a friend of mine went there for 2 yrs...came back, bought a Hummer, paved his driveway, built a pavilion on the back of his house and fenced his back yard in, took his wife on a couple of cruises, enclosed his garage. Then retired. At 50 yrs old. He bragged about the money.
