TROOPERS SEARCH FOR SUSPECT IN DRIVE-BY SHOOTING

(Annapolis, MD) – Maryland State Police are searching for the suspects involved in a drive-by shooting that occurred early this morning on Rt. 50 near Annapolis in which a man was slightly injured and at least a dozen shots struck his car.

The victims are identified as Kevin A. Brown, 24, of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Justin L. Bentley, 24, of Columbia, Md. Brown sustained two minor graze wounds to his shoulder which are believed to have been caused by bullet fragments or flying glass. He did not require medical treatment. Bentley was not injured.

At 7:15 a.m. today, a Maryland state trooper on patrol from the College Park Barracks saw what appeared to be a disabled gray 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS on the shoulder of westbound Rt. 50 at the Anne Arundel and Prince George’s County line. The trooper stopped and found Brown and Bentley had been awaiting a tow truck that had just left.

Brown and Bentley told the trooper they had been at a club in Washington, D.C. last night and were headed east on Rt. 50 toward I-97 at about 4:30 a.m. today. Brown was driving his Chevrolet Monte Carlo and missed the exit for I-97. He turned around and was headed west on Rt. 50 toward I-97.

Both victims said a black Range Rover with tinted windows came up fast beside them on the driver’s side of the Monte Carlo. The passenger window of the suspect vehicle was lowered and a suspect described only as an African American male fired multiple times with what was described as a dark-colored handgun. The only other suspect or suspect vehicle description was that the vehicle had either temporary or cardboard registration plates.

The victims continued west on Rt. 50 and said the suspect vehicle went north on I-97. They were forced to stop at the county line, several miles from the scene, when one of the tires shredded off the rim, apparently because it had been punctured by a bullet. The rear window on the driver’s side of the vehicle had been shattered and there were multiple bullet holes in the side of the car.
The victims had attempted to change the tire and had to await a tow truck for several hours. The victims had not called police to report the incident.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone who may have any information about this incident and the suspects or vehicle involved is urged to contact Maryland State Police at the Glen Burnie Barracks at 410-761-5130.

Sounds suspicious to me. Why did they stay on the road for hours? Why didn't they call the police? They obviously had something to hide themselves.
